He twisted midair, narrowly avoiding the impact. The blow slammed into the ground where he had stood, splitting the metal floor open like it was paper.
Raito didn't stop moving. He leapt, aura flaring violently, and punched straight into the Golem's chest, his fist driving into the glowing core. A sound like shattering glass filled the air as cracks of white light spread across the Golem's body.
Another Golem roared behind him, raising its hand for a crushing strike. Without even looking, Raito threw his arm backward, his palm cutting through the air like a blade. The sheer force of it sent the Golem stumbling, its arm exploding into fragments.
Kira could only watch, eyes wide.
Then Raito spun, his hand flashing. A dagger materialized instantly in his grip. He slashed through the air and drove the blade straight into the second Golem's core, piercing through stone and light. The creature convulsed, let out a deep metallic groan, then collapsed.
The impact sent a blast of wind across the arena, whipping Kira's hair and clothes. She raised her arm to shield her face as the dust and wind ripped across the underground hall.
Through the haze, the last Golem charged, its steps making the ground quake. It raised both arms high to crush him. Raito looked up once, and jumped.
He spun midair, twisting his body like a blade, and then, with a single devastating kick, he severed the Golem's head clean off. The massive body froze for a second before collapsing to the floor with an echo that shook the entire structure.
Silence followed. The only sound was the hum of flickering lights and Raito's steady breathing.
Kira stood frozen, her mind reeling.
What the hell, Who is this guy, she thought. It hasn't even been that long since I met him, but he just took down three King Golems like they were nothing.
Her gaze darted back to the cages lining the walls. The monsters inside were restless now, their glowing eyes fixed on Raito. She could feel it, the tension in the air, the tremor of power pressing down on them.
He might not even realize it himself, she thought, trembling slightly. He could be Rank A, maybe even S. Something must have gone wrong during his assessment.
But then her eyes flicked to the ceiling, where she noticed a camera lens glinting faintly in the dark.
Her stomach dropped. Of course, Itoshi. He's watching.
This wasn't just a room. It was a trap, a testing ground beneath the Black Gem Casino. The owner controlled every cage, every monster, every light in this place.
And with one press of a button, he could release them all.
Raito let out a sharp breath. "Ah, now that the golems are defeated," he muttered, glancing around the vast chamber. "How the hell did they manage to bring this many monsters into one place without anyone noticing?"
Above him, a section of the ceiling shifted, a slab of stone sliding aside to reveal a hidden speaker. A cold voice echoed through the chamber.
"Hey, I'm watching you. Don't think you'll get out of here alive. This is where you die," Itoshi's voice thundered. "I have access to every single cage in that chamber. For what you've done today, you deserve to be eaten alive. And don't worry, when they're done with you, not even a single bone will remain."
Raito tilted his head slightly, a faint smirk curling his lips.
"I know you can see me right now," he said calmly. "Tell me, how's that injury I gave you, your leg still hurting, huh?" His eyes hardened. "You bastard. You're going to pay for that with your life."
From above, Itoshi's voice cracked with fury.
"Raito, you'll regret this. My leg hurts because of you, and you're going to die screaming!" Then, the speaker went silent.
Moments later, a deep metallic clatter filled the chamber, chains snapping loose, locks falling open one by one.
From the shadows, they began to emerge.
Monsters, dozens of them. Chimeras with molten eyes, kobolds with jagged claws, undead knights dragging rusted blades, and even massive brown dungeon bears whose roars shook the ceiling. Four of the bears charged first, their thunderous steps cracking the stone beneath them.
Raito's gaze swept the chamber, reading every movement, every sound. Mana stirred around him like a gathering storm.
"…This isn't good," he muttered.
Kira ran up beside him, panting. "What should we do?"
Raito extended his hand. A circle of light flared beneath his feet, runes spiraling outward.
"Hold on."
A blazing magic shield burst into existence, wrapping around him, Kira, and the undead carrying Neo. The barrier hummed like steel under pressure as the bears slammed into it, claws screeching across the glowing surface. The impact sent shockwaves through the air, dust and debris exploding outward.
"Can it hold?" Kira shouted over the roar.
"Long enough," Raito said, his voice steady. He could feel every vibration, every pulse of killing intent outside the barrier. The monsters weren't acting on instinct, they were controlled, guided by something darker.
He smiled faintly. "Itoshi, you really went all out."
As more cages burst open, the air grew heavy with the stench of mana and blood. A-rank monsters, dozens of them, maybe more. Each one trembling with murderous energy.
Raito's grip tightened around his dagger.
"Fine," he muttered, his eyes glowing faintly blue. "Let's see if your pets can kill me."
The shield began to crack, light leaking through its edges. Kira braced herself.
Raito took a slow breath, eyes locked on the oncoming horde.
Raito clenched his fists, "What are we going to do, We're dead," Kira hissed, panic rising in her voice.
Raito exhaled sharply, "No, we're not."
He glanced around the chamber, monsters were multiplying, their growls echoing through the stone walls.
"There must be, forty of them," he muttered. "Forty B-rank monsters, mixed with A-rank and even a few D-ranks."
His eyes glowed faintly purple as he gauged their mana.
