The Rise Of The No. 1 Hunter

Chapter 68: FURY

"Attention, civilians! This is an emergency alert from the Hunter Association!"

"Please take immediate cover. Return to your homes or proceed to the nearest armored shelter. Do not panic—hunters are on their way to eliminate the threat."

"Repeat: take cover. Monsters have been sighted inside the city."

The voice reverberated across every street, building, and alley — powerful enough for everyone to hear. Even inside the café, the sound was clear and heavy, shaking the windows slightly.

People froze mid-conversation. A few gasped; others dropped their drinks. The warm, morning calm shattered instantly.

Raito's eyes narrowed.

"Monsters…?" he muttered under his breath.

He turned toward the window, catching the distant flicker of smoke rising somewhere beyond the main street.

"It's been years since something like this happened," he thought.

Raito's pulse quickened.

"What's going on? What kind of monsters are attacking?" he muttered.

His nerves tightened — his body trembled, not from fear, but from instinct. That same feeling he had when he took down Taz.

He turned to leave the café, but before he could reach the door, a hand grabbed his left arm.

"Come here! Where did you go? I was looking for you!" Aiko said, pulling him back.

"Go to the back, Raito. Don't panic. They're on it — the Association is sending hunters."

"Wait, let me go! Why did you take me to the back?" Raito snapped.

"Have you forgotten?" she said firmly. "Your power hasn't even manifested yet. So leave it to me. I'm your big sister. I'll protect you."

Raito fell silent, watching her. Around them, panic spread through the café.

Several men in suits pulled out swords glowing faintly with aura. Some women formed fireballs in their palms, the heat flickering against their faces. Others huddled in fear behind tables, whispering prayers.

Raito could sense the danger drawing closer.

"What kind of monster is it…" he whispered.

Then he heard it—

Thud. Thud. Thud.

The sound of heavy, slow footsteps shaking the ground.

"System," Raito said sharply, "what's happening outside?"

"Scanning…"

"In this street alone, there are ten King Ogres — Rank B monsters. Each one capable of leveling a building. The others are scattered throughout the district. These ten are approaching your location," the System responded.

Raito's eyes narrowed.

"Ten… Rank B?"

He clenched his fists, and two black daggers shimmered into existence in his hands. He took a slow breath and lowered his stance.

Then—

CRASH!

The café door exploded inward as a massive ogre's claw tore through the entrance. The beast roared, its fangs dripping saliva.

Aiko was thrown back by the blast, landing hard outside. Flames wrapped around her body as she rose to her feet, her eyes blazing.

"Stay back!" she shouted.

She dashed forward, leaping high, and slammed her flaming fist into the ogre's stomach. The massive creature staggered backward. She didn't stop—

Aiko launched a rapid flurry of punches, her aura blazing hotter with each strike. Then she twisted midair and delivered an uppercut that sent the ogre reeling.

Before she could land, another ogre swung its massive club.

BOOM!

The hit sent her flying through the air, crashing into a house.

"Aiko!" Raito shouted, running toward her.

He reached her, blood staining her forehead. He knelt, lifting her gently.

"No… no, no…"

His hands glowed faintly as he whispered,

"Burst—recover."

A warm light surrounded Aiko's wounds. The bleeding stopped, though her eyes remained closed.

He laid her carefully inside a nearby abandoned building, breaking the door open and setting her down.

"Stay here. I'll come back for you," he said softly.

Then his eyes hardened.

"Every single ogre… is going to pay."

Raito burst forward, daggers in hand, leaping high into the air. He landed before an ogre and in one swift motion — its head rolled to the ground.

Nearby, Aiko's classmates — hunters from the same academy — stared in disbelief.

"Wait… isn't that Aiko's brother?"

"They said his power hadn't manifested—look at him!"

Raito dashed between two ogres, dodging a heavy club swing by a hair's breadth. He twisted low, drove his dagger up, slicing open one's stomach, then spun and kicked another back.

An ogre roared, raising its club to crush him — but Raito caught it with his bare hand, his muscles flexing with unearthly strength. He shoved the monster backward, driving his blade deep into its abdomen.

It collapsed with a thunderous crash.

Two ogres remained.

"You're all going to pay," Raito growled.

He hurled both of his daggers — they spun through the air, embedding deep into their chests. The ogres stumbled, still standing—then the blades pulsed.

Venom surge detected.

The monsters twitched violently, their veins turning black as the poison spread. Moments later, they dropped to the ground with a thunderous boom.

Silence fell.

Every of aiko classmate who witnessed it could only stare — the brother whose power "hadn't manifested" stood amid the bodies of ten King Ogres, his eyes burning like fire.

Raito's eyes narrowed as he assessed the approaching goblins. One hundred of them were swarming down the street, wreaking havoc on anything in their path. Civilians scrambled into their homes, slamming doors behind them, while a few of Aiko's classmates watched in stunned silence.

Raito didn't hesitate. He planted his feet firmly in the middle of the street, daggers at the ready. The goblins charged—fast, chaotic, but no match for him.

Within moments, fifteen goblins entered striking range. Raito moved almost too fast to see. His daggers flashed, slicing through the goblins' ranks in a single, precise sweep. Bodies fell to the ground, lifeless, before they even realized what had hit them.

The remaining goblins hesitated, fear flashing in their eyes. Half of their numbers had already been taken down, and now they were running—but Raito didn't let them escape. He moved in a blur, cutting off their retreat one by one. Within minutes, the street was cleared. Fifty goblins lay defeated, and the rest scattered into the alleys, terrified.

Aiko's classmates, who had been watching from nearby streets, couldn't believe their eyes. "He is aiko brother right?" one whispered. "A rank A? Maybe even S?" another guessed.
