'Don't pay it any attention. Just focus on planting the seeds and clearing the area for it. The danger is nothing but an illusion my brain is making up.'
I reminded myself as I kept digging the earth.
The seeds I had bought were enough to cover more than 25 square feet of land, and I had just about that much land left as well.
But to cover this land was going to take some while.
"Master, look—! This tree is so amusing. I can trip on it as I walk. Ohhh—! And this flower is so pretty as well. Do you think—! Hey, it snapped at me."
Fenrir was having fun as he jumped around. The puppy had too much energy and was already covered in dirt.
'Tsk, why does Fenrir get to have fun while I am working here? I am the master, right? Then, should I make Fenrir work for his meal?'
The sudden idea popped into my mind, and I turned to give Fenrir a smile.
My face caused Fenrir's smile to drop, and he gave me a suspicious look instead.
"Master, I don't like the look on your face. W-What do you want—?"
Fenrir asked me carefully, and I tried to wipe the smile off my face. But I could not help the fact that I felt relieved to have someone else help me out.
"My dear Fenrir, I am in need of your expertise. You see this space? I need you to dig it up as much as you can. You will help me out, right?"
I asked, and the puppy still looked suspicious of me, but much more relaxed this time.
"Oh—! Is that all, Master? Sure, I can help. Where do I need to dig?"
Fenrir asked, a little excited now, and I gestured to the 25 sq ft of empty space in front of him.
"We need to dig this whole place up. Let's get to work. Don't worry, I will help you out as well."
I assured the puppy, and he suddenly looked a little worried at the huge amount of space I had told him to work on.
"Master, won't that take too long?"
The puppy asked, and I had the perfect thing to say to rage-bait him into doing my bidding.
"Oh—! Is that too much for you? I guess it can be because your body is too small—"
"No way—! I can do this. Just you wait and watch, Master. I will show you what I can do as a great dire wolf."
Fenrir told me before he started to dig the ground.
Was it scummy of me to use Fenrir like this? Sure it was.
But did I care to think it was scummy and stop? Hell no! It was not animal abuse if the animal in question was agreeing to help me out, right?
Anyway, I decided to start on the other side of the plot as well. It was not because I wanted to be done quicker and needed to go to bed. The reason was to help Fenrir out… that was my justification.
Yet, despite having an overly excited and full-of-life puppy as well as a tired human, we took some time to clear up the needed space, and I planted the seeds before watering them and giving them the fertilizers.
Once that was done, I hooked up the artificial light to a few trees so that it would cover as much patch of land as it could and finally called it a day.
My body ached because of all the activity, and I had a feeling I would never have been able to do all this if not for my increased stamina.
After all, I was someone who used to feel winded after running for fifteen minutes.
My body hit the bed, and I felt it crash down. Now that the softness of the bed was finally under my body, I could feel my muscles scream at me.
"Tsk, looks like it's just my stamina that got better. My muscles are still the same old. Ouch—! It hurts so much."
I complained as I tried to relax. But the more I forced myself to relax, the more pain I felt.
Heck, the places that were aching were ones I didn't even know had muscles in the first place.
And the pain continued well into the next morning. I opened my eyes and tried to move, only for my body to get locked up and not allow me to move an inch.
"Fuck—! What the hell—! Ugh, it hurts."
The only thing that was going to solve this was a nice soak in a salt bath with relaxing properties. There were also herbs I had.
But first, I needed to take a painkiller in order to be able to move around.
As a doctor, even I could tell you that it was best not to take any painkillers, but I had too much to do today, and I did not want to be in pain.
So I took half of it… just enough to allow me to move and get some herbs and make a solution.
"Master, what are you doing… ugh, what's that smell? Maybe I'll wait for you in the breakfast room."
Fenrir seemed to show no sign of being tired, and I envied him. But I had a bath to prepare for now.
The salt and other herbs were quickly put in the lukewarm water before I soaked myself in it.
Half an hour later, my body was wrinkly, but I felt much better. The painkiller had faded as well, but I did not feel like my body was breaking with every step.
I cleaned off the remainder of herbs on my body and went down to have breakfast.
Once that was done, I encountered my next challenge—the stairs I needed to climb in order to get to the attic where the fairies were waiting for me.
'Alright, time for my next challenge—to climb up the stairs to get to the attic. Let's put one foot up. Good, now another.'
Somehow, I made it all the way to the top and opened the attic door.
"Master is back."
"Master brought food?"
"Is there good news?"
The fairies swarmed me as soon as I entered the room, and their leader pushed them all back before she stepped up as their representative.
I addressed her first so that I could distract myself from the returning pain in my limbs.
"You all can come out. I have brought you some berries. I will leave the garden to you for now. But you need to make sure not to harm the berry plants I am leaving you with."
I told the fairies, but my words were more for their leader and elder fairies.
Most fairies here behaved like children, and I had a feeling they would act like that as well if I left them without anyone in charge.
"Thank you, Master. It is a great act of kindness you have shown us. We promise to be on our best behaviour for you."
The elder fairy told me, and then they followed me outside. It was time to show them the garden that I was leaving them.
