I'm the Hero, so why do I have a Villain System!?

Chapter 54: Midterm Exams (2)

Hearing what Ms Ocsol said made Lucas' eyes widened.

"Thank you!"

He immediately bowed his head and thanked Ms Ocsol. Then he quickly resumed answering the questions he missed.

He was now smiling from ear to ear again.

He's changing for the better so I'll should give him a hand to make sure the change sticks.

Ms Ocsol thought, a small smile on her face as he watched Lucas work excitedly.

Lucas quickly rushed through the paper answering every question with ease until only the last one was left.

Question 29: Who invented the Lightning Bolt Spell and how was it invented?

What? When did we learn this?

Lucas stared at the paper, his mind drawing blanks.

Now that I think about it, I think I've heard of this before but where?

Lucas digged deep into his mind, searching for the answer.

Come on. Come on. I know it! Just a little more....Aha! I remember now, it was the first thing taught in class when I first transmigrated into this world!

Lucas immediately put his pen to paper.

"The Lightning Bolt spell was created by Asarv the Legless while he was trying to create a spell to levitate."

And that's it.

"Ma'am, I'm finished." Lucas said, handing the paper to Ms Ocsol.

"Oh, very well." Ms Ocsol said, taking the paper." It would be best if you ran along to the next part of the exam. It's already been 26 minutes."

"Yes, ma'am." Lucas said before getting up and dashing out of the hall.

"He's a good kid." Ms Ocsol said to herself before shaking her head and chuckling.

Meanwhile, Lucas ran toward the Indoor Training Grounds where the combat portion of the test would be held.

The Indoor Training Grounds wasn't really that close to the examination hall so Lucas had to book it across the campus at full speed.

After four minutes of nonstop running, Lucas reached the doors of the Indoor Training Grounds. He knew he was very close to being late, so he didn't even hesitate to open the door and step inside.

Seeing the huge crowd that was already in the place, Lucas could only stand at the back and look ahead.

"Hey, if it isn't Lucas Estellan." A voice called out and approached me.

It wasn't anyone he expected like Lydia or Celeste. Instead, it was a blonde young man with the typical arrogant young master look on his face. Judging by his richly decorated clothes, it was obvious that he's a noble.

Actually, now that I think about it, he looks kinda familiar.

Then it clicked in Lucas' mind.

I remember him. He's one of the original Lucas' bully's from the game. But how the hell does he know me when we aren't even in the same class in this timeline.

"What is it?" Lucas said, not wanting to waste time on someone who was just fodder.

"What's with the tone, Lucas?" The youth sneered. "Insects shouldn't talk so rudely to human beings."

Is this guy serious?

Lucas didn't say anything and just looked at the guy.

"There you are again, still acting all mighty, you f*cking little dog but remember...you're nothing but a bastard halfbreed. Don't think you can consider yourself one of us pureblooded nobles when filthy commoner blood flows through your veins." The youth said.

So that's is what this is about.

Ever since he learned the original Lucas' backstory from Leyla, he knew it would cause problems down the line but he hadn't expected it to happen at the academy and during the midterm exams of all places.

In his mind, he had known there was a group of pure blooded noble supremacists on the campus, since they would end up joining the Legion later in the game, but he had thought if he stayed out of there way, they would stay out of his.

Apparently not.

"Is that all you have to say?" Lucas said.

"That's not all. I'm going to slap your filthy maggot brain silly for daring to talk to your superior like that. We'll be seeing each other at the practical duel."The young noble said.

"Duel? With you." Lucas said with a raised brow.

"I'll show you that an insect like you doesn't deserve the noble name of Estellan. I specifically bribed the matchmaker in order to be able to fight you." The youth said.

Hearing all the elaborate planning the youth had went through Lucas couldn't help but say.

"You went through all this elaborate planning but I don't even know who you are."

The effect was immediate and devastating.

The blonde youth's face cycled through several shades of red, from pink to crimson to an almost purple hue.

His mouth opened and closed like a fish gasping for air, and his hands trembled at his sides.

"Y-You... You don't... How dare you!" He sputtered. "I am Carl Wayland! Son of Baron Wayland! My family has served the kingdom for three generations!"

"Carl... Wayland? Nope, still doesn't ring a bell." Lucas said.

"We've been in the same year for months!" Carl shouted.

This drew the attention of several nearby students who turned to watch the confrontation with barely concealed amusement.

"Have we?" Lucas said with genuine disinterest. "Sorry, I don't really pay attention to background characters."

Carl's face somehow managed to turn an even deeper shade of red. His finger jabbed toward Lucas accusingly, though it was shaking so badly it looked more comical than threatening.

"B-Baron Wayland is an important figure in the southern territories! Our family owns three estates and.."

"A baron?" Lucas interrupted, unable to hold back a laugh. "You're just a baron's son? And you're here talking about pure bloodlines and superiority?"

The crowd that had gathered was now openly snickering. Even some of Carl's own friends, who had been standing behind him for moral support, were looking away and trying to hide their smiles.

"I'll remember this, Lucas Estellan!" Carl said. "When we face each other in the duels, I'll make you regret it."

"Yeah, yeah," Lucas waved him off dismissively. "I'm sure you will. Now if you don't mind, some of us actually care about passing this exam."
