"My Star Core is White, I have an affinity with swords, the shinier the better, one of my abilities involve controlling branded Swords," the young man named Zhou explained.
He didn't know Enzo quite yet, after all they didn't register on the same day. If not he'd be more respectful towards him. But for now? He was just that
"I've seen this kind of ability before, it's really good if the wielder is strong on his feet," Zeke nodded affirming that Zhou was a good candidate. Contrary to Enzo's belief, Zeke hadn't actually picked these two randomly.
They were both people he had stalked for a good few minutes. Zhou was neglected because someone more powerful had a problem with him and stumped on him in the main hall, and as for the second one…
"You guys be fast with all this nonsense, I don't have the time today, are we joining or not?" she was short, with green witch hat, but most of all she was blind.
"Calm down, I still need to fill some things," Enzo smiled bitterly.
He could tell that this girl in front of him didn't have any ill will from what she just said. She just has an awful character born probably from where she was born.
After a few short seconds, he asked her about her own details and wrote them down on the piece of paper before continuing to speak.
"So, I want to make sure you guys understand that this project is actually not easy. Though you won't be doing a lot, it would be a lot more than your counterparts are doing in bigger clubs."
Satisfied with their powers and how they presented themselves, Enzo told them a bit about the mission. He didn't give full details of course, opting to keep some things secret.
"We understand, as long as the higher-ups have a plan," Zhou nodded.
Yeah, Zeke had lied to them that the project was actually being taken by a mysterious 3rd-year with immense might. He wanted to do the project without others knowing until it was done so it all had to be a secret.
They were desperate, of course, so they didn't take the necessary time to really evaluate the situation thoroughly, the surface was believable enough though so they just went with it.
"Umm, okay," Enzo smirked.
Passing out two badges, Enzo added.
"For today, let's just go about our daily activities, we'll reconvene with the higher-ups on when to start."
Seconds later they separated and went about their daily activities as night slowly approached.
"Numbers 212, 213, 214 and 215. This is your room for the semester." In a dark corridor deep inside the institute, an instructor pointed at a room using his badge to open it.
Several first years trooped into the room moments later, in a straight line, taking their bed spaces. First years stayed inside the institute. Only those higher were welcome to stay in the settlement outside of the institute's walls.
One by one, the instructors placed all the students before turning the lights off in the corridors. And so the day before was as good as done…
For some
Inside the rooms, several of the students slowly stood up from their beds and introduced themselves to their new roommates trying to form bonds.
In one particular room two individuals stared at a young man with black hair in bewilderment and intrigue.
Well to be accurate, they were staring at the human-sized coffin that was seated right next to his bed.
"Well, that's awkward," Zeke commented as he walked towards Enzo and sat with a smirk. Enzo's coffin was very intriguing indeed, the first day he met him he had been stealing glances at it for minutes before even speaking to him.
These guys, however, saw it as normal to stare at Enzo's coffin without breaking eye contact; it was like they wanted to see him naked or something. No class! Both of them.
"I know, just ignore. It brings a lot of stares normally," Enzo muttered, his legs crossed as he stared upwards at the ceiling.
The project they had chosen was to say the very least difficult.
[Assassinate the leader of the thieves' guild in Astoria]
Rumors had it that he was an exalted weaver, a full realm above star weavers like them. It was an impossible task for a group of nobodies like them, so one would wonder why they picked it.
Well, it was due to the fact that they had some insider information in the place of Zeke.
Zeke had explained that Vager, the leader of the guild of thieves, was indeed an exalted weaver, and had become so quite recently, this sounded like a bad thing, but it also opened up a loophole for them.
Normally hiring external fighters for a project was prohibited by the institute. It was seen as cheating since most of the students there were affluent; they could probably afford to do so, it would ruin the essence of the project.
However, they weren't stupid; if facing something as strong as an exalted weaver they allowed a limited use of one mercenary of the same rank. Others had tried to recruit one for years but since Vager was actually just a 3-stage star weaver all that time, it was always rejected.
Now was different.
Just imagine them bringing in the head of an exalted weaver to the institute? They would get top marks and a bulk load of contributions.
But first they had to prepare; hiring an exalted weaver for an assassination mission would cost them an arm and a leg in time, talk less of the countless other plans they had to set in motion.
"Hello, my name is Victor… what's yours?" While Enzo sat on his bed with his hands crossed behind his head thinking.
A shadow suddenly loomed over him as a young man with Snow White hair came into view.
At first glance he could tell where this person was from…
Snowfall
