Kurt and Laya got into some of the nicer clothes they had gotten, Sara went for a longer dress with leggings as it wasn't exactly warm outside. And Kurt wears one of his suits and the cloak. They both look dignified, beautiful and rich, as they wanted to.
Having never been to the town they started by simply wandering around until they heard what sounded like a nightlife that was fun. A club, drink, dancing, and a mass of people. Sara was loving it, she was on the floor as soon as she could be. Kurt wasn't much of a dancer, so he went to the bar, the club had a VIP section above the floor, maybe they could get up there one day, tonight they basically knew no one.
Sara had seemed to find someone who was interested, in giving her drinks at least. Normally Kurt would worry but the fact was if Sara wanted to she could probably kill the whole club with either golem or her tentacles, unless someone else had some powers, which of course was possible in a town like this. It wouldn't be impossible if there were clan members somewhere as well. But unlikely given the size of the city to run into too many, unless a group happened to be there together.
He found himself a little out of place, Kurt was never this type of person, but you had to go out once in a while. He saw a girl in the VIP section looking in his direction with intense eyes, 'still got it'. She turned away. After a few rounds he finally had enough nerve to make just as much of a fool of himself as everyone else there. Trying to groove with the music, the little bit of alcohol helped him get over himself. Every once in a while he would find himself staring back at the women in VIP, she seemed to always find him in the crowd.
"Whose the girl?" Said Sara.
"Huh?"
"The girl up there has been staring at you all night, maybe you should go say hi," Sra gave Kurt a little smile and pushed him towards the girl..
"And how does one get into VIP?" said Kurt
"Guess you gotta figure it out," she smiled back at him, taking her leave to the dance floor.
Kurt had tried to enter the VIP but some rude person wouldn't let him by, said he needed a ticket or pass or something. Kurt thought about making him, but realized that probably was a mistake. He was new in town, and fairly drunk at the moment.
The night started to blur in Kurt's mind, too many drinks, so many people. And so many cute girls, that he may or may not have talked to, he wasn't sure anymore. He was having fun but was really starting to feel it, apparently being a guardian had no effect on your tolerance for alcohol.
As the night continued Sara and Kurt left the club and began enjoying the outside entertainment, a few bards were singing. They started to go back to the hotel, and apparently Sara's 'friend' didn't last.
On their way back they were approached by five men that seemed to take a liking to their stuff.
"No reason to make this hard just hand over the valuables?"
"Are you trying to rob us?" said Kurt.
"I would have thought that was obvious, now hand it over, you're surrounded." The men all carried some blade of some kind. "You bunch of drunks"
Sara and Kurt just laughed at each other, "they are really trying aren't they?"
"What's so funny?" said the man showing his blade clearly. Crack, one of Sara tentacles appears and whipped right at the blade causing the goon to drop it.
"You are." Said Sara, laughing and barely holding herself up on two legs, "really trying to rob — us?"
"What was that?"
"Ohh just the start," said Kurt. Kurt had managed to basically appear in front of one of the other goons and hit him right in the stomach hard. And hard for Kurt was basically bone breaking. The man clutched his stomach and fell to the ground, not caring about his sword, then moved so fast in front of another, looking at him, well two of him for some reason Kurt forgot, "are you going to try?"
Sara was basically laughing so hard she barely could stand, "Didn't he already?"
"I don't know," slurred Kurt at Sara, turning towards the man, men, there were two of them for some reason, overlapping, "did you?" The man in front of Kurt was giving him a wide eyed expression. "You sort of look like you did, what with that look?"
The men realized they were completely outmatched, and started to run. Leaving their hurled over companion behind.
"What are you running for? We just wanted to talk." chuckled Sara.
"Aww, your friends left you," said Kurt, "want me to throw you to them?
"No," groaned the man. The man had probably realized Kurt actually meant to physically 'throw him to them'.
"Were in that big one?" said Sara, pointing at the wrong hotel. "Right? I got turned around."
"No it was this one," said Kurt, pointing at another wrong hotel. They were almost lost, it was in this area somewhere.
"Ohh yeah."
After going to the wrong hotel, they finally managed to find their way back. And passed out in the massive bed, in one place and another, it wasn't exactly the ends of the bed, it was very large, but it wasn't together, together.
***The next morning***
Layla had come in sometime near noon, and opened the curtains. Which hurt Kurt's eyes. "What the hell close those things"
"Enjoy yourselves last night."
"Yes, mom," said Sara, "what can Fae not get drunk?"
"Good question," said Kurt, giving Sara a high five.
"Well, umm, I don't really like it."
"You lost me," said Sara, and Kurt laughed.
"You like this part?"
"No, let me go back to sleep. I'll be fine. What's your deal?"
"Kurt?" said Layla.
"What? We don't even have any plans what's the fucking problem?" said Kurt.
"Well, damn."
"Sorry," Kurt said, sitting up holding his pulsing head.
"You know the better way to do this is bring breakfast," said Sara.
"And coffee," said Kurt.
"Fine," Layla went back into the gate, and a few minutes later came back with a breakfast for them. Kurt would have complained about the coffee but he knew there wasn't any on the other side.
After they found one of the many tables in the massive suite, they ate some breakfast together.
"So why all the, wake up now, stuff?" said Kurt as he lifted a fork of scrabbled eggs to his mouth, and ate.
"Well, first Carl wants to do the big dinner thing tonight, so can y'all stay sober for that at least?"
"Ohh am I coming this time too?" said Sara.
"Sure why not," said Kurt.
"Awesome, you guys always be hiding that from me, Carl knows the best places."
"That's because we are in the damn carriage, and your over there on the other side." Said Kurt.
"Likely excuse," said Sara.
"I also wanted to ask about the plans for like this is city and what we are doing?"
"What do you mean we are basically waiting for Carl to collect money to pay us to go to the next town like, you know is sort of our awesome job now," said Kurt. "we'll have to find the right place here, I'm sure he'll show us."
"Kurt, think, we haven't really done anything about security."
"Security?"
"Yes, that's what I want the plan to be, to find two or three people to keep as permanent guards, more if we can but I think two or three should start, there seems to be enough people here, a couple have to have potential."
"Really? Who would I know here?"
"There is a little battle square I was told."
"You want me to fight?"
"No, I want you to watch them fight, and find someone good."
"Ohh i volunteer," said Sara easing her hand, "picking out the cute guards."
"Perfect," said Kurt while Layla was giving him an unapproving stare. "What Layla?"
"Can you take this seriously?"
"You spend most of your time surrounded by what appears to be an ever growing army of monsters. What are you worried about if I have to be next to you while you are out here, you know you can fly right, like humans can't fly, a fairly easy escape for you If all goes wrong, you think a couple of normal guys…"
"Do you think it's going to remain this easy?"
"No," said Kurt in a defeated tone.
"But I can still pick out the cute guards right?" said Sara. "The ones that are going to come in, and like visit me in my Dutchery with some shiny armor." She said with a wide smile.
"It's not a dating service, Sara," said Layla.
"You think I would call a guy that can't beat me in a fight, my knight in shining armor, I think not. I understand the standards, big muscles, good on his feet, marvelous hands, tall, with that tough guy jaw line."
"Umm," said Layla
"Yeah, sounds about right. I volunteer." said Sara. "I might even grab Susan."
"And, I got shopping. I'm planning for the potions eventually too," said Kurt, "and I was looking for armor, and I got to go back and get my new sword."
"Well, umm…"
"Then it's settled, Sara will ogle the talent, and I'll shop for the workshop" said Kurt
"So why is there blood?" said Layla
"It's not mine, I think someone tried to rob me—us?" Kurt said, looking at Sara.
Layla shook her head.
