Chapter 155: The Other Dark Elf

[Astrid Skogr: Tell me where you are and stay there. I'll go to you.]

This was the last message that Hazel received from Astrid before she gave her position to her partner. After that, it was complete radio silence. So, while waiting for the dark elf to show up, she set her eyes on the other dark elf.

With the attacker's hood removed, it was revealed that this person was indeed a Dark Elf due to the notable dark gray skin and silver hair. Another thing to note was that this dark elf was indeed a woman after taking a closer look. And she was rather young, though, since she was a dark elf, Hazel couldn't trust age by appearance.

Aside from the black cloak she wore, underneath it was a typical yet detailed green and black Ranger's outfit. There was also a dagger-holding belt strapped around her waist, to which Hazel immediately took off so her enemy didn't get any bright ideas.

The dark elf attacker was still under the effects of her Evil Eyes, basically making it impossible for her to move unless Hazel either closed her eyes or looked away. Even then, she could easily just utilize her Astral Eye and apply her evil eye's ability on them, like when she fought the Spider Queen.

While keeping the dark elf from escaping, Hazel took the opportunity given to her to appraise her enemy. She did this mainly out of curiosity since she had no idea how strong this person was.

[Olga Kjarr, Class: Arcane Archer, Level 30]

She was stronger than the players she tried to kill, that much Hazel was certain of. And her class explained how she was able to conjure an arrow of pure mana like that. It also helped that her bow, which Hazel appraised as well, also enhanced the arrow being conjured. No wonder this dark elf could cause so much damage when attacking the hospital. She practically left a gaping hole after just two shots from her.

Hazel wanted to question the dark elf, but could tell that she didn't plan to talk any time soon. Hopefully, that would change when Astrid got here. Who knows, maybe they might know one another. Then again, if they did, there was a possibility that it could end up like their previous encounter with Dolk. Thankfully, there didn't appear to be any other enemies nearby, waiting to ambush her like before.

So, Hazel simply waited for Astrid to arrive, hoping to get some answers regarding why this dark elf tried to kill those players and, more importantly, see what her objective was and who she worked for.

It didn't take long before Astrid finally arrived as she leaped onto the rooftop they were on and landed near Hazel. The witch didn't even need to see her come since she had one of her Astral Eyes keeping an eye on her surroundings, which was why she immediately noticed her before her dark elf partner landed on the rooftop.

"How did it go on the fifth floor?" Hazel asked, keeping her eyes trained on the other dark elf.

"Kane's currently dealing with it by questioning the mage and gunslinger who were the ones that betrayed their team," As Astrid said this, she walked closer to Hazel and the other dark elf before coming to a stop once she was next to her partner.

As soon as Astrid made herself known, the other dark elf stared in shock, clearly surprised to see her. Meanwhile, Astrid calmly stared at the other dark elf with a cold yet furious gaze. The type of gaze that fit the idiom "if looks could kill".

Hazel quickly noticed those expressions, realizing that they likely knew one another.

"I'm assuming this is someone you know?" Hazel inquired.

Astrid didn't say a word for a few seconds as she continued to glare at her fellow dark elf. Then she sharply inhaled before answering. "Yeah, I know her."

Hazel could tell from her strained tone that while she did know this dark elf, they clearly weren't on good terms. Which meant only one thing...

"And judging from the tone of your voice, that would mean that this person..."

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"Is one of the bastard's that betrayed me, yes," Astrid spat, still directing her anger and hostility toward the other dark elf. "Hello, Olga."

Olga stared at Astrid for a moment, a hint of guilt and fear-stricken in her eyes. "Hello...lady Astrid."

So, if this dark elf was one of the ones who betrayed Astrid, that meant this person likely knew about Dolk's whereabouts. Or at least whatever his plan was.

"She's the one who shot at the hospital, right?"

Hazel nodded. "Yeah. Her class is an Arcane Archer, and she also had a powerful magic bow that helped enhance her magic arrows. Though I don't know why she was attacking those players from before."

"She likely did it on someone else's orders..." She took a couple of steps forward, getting close to the dark elf enemy. "Like that bastard Dolk, perhaps?"

Upon hearing the name of a fellow dark elf who also conspired to kill Astrid, Olga immediately tensed up again. Astrid witnessed her visible reaction and scowled at her former companion.

"Looks like I was right," She said while pulling away from Olga. "Which means that bastard is likely still in Portland."

"But why is that?" Hazel questioned. "Shouldn't he be trying to return to your tribe and regroup with your brother, Kollr?"

Neither Hazel nor Astrid could figure out why Dolk was possibly still in Portland when he had no reason to be. Other than trying to kill Astrid, though, if he wanted to do that, he would've done that during their first encounter from before.

After hearing Hazel's question, Olga strained a scoff, catching both of their attentions.

"Know something that we don't, Olga?" Astrid questioned.

"Dolk...has no reason...to return to the Tribe," Olga explained. "Not...after everything that happened."

"You mean betraying and trying to kill me, correct?"

Olga could only nod, which she could barely do as well due to being under the effect of Hazel's evil eye.

"Even if that's the case, he was working with my brother, Kollr. So, wouldn't it be natural for a pet to return to their owner?"

Hazel spared a questionable glance at her dark elf partner. Did she really refer to Dolk as a pet? It wasn't like she didn't understand why, but she still had to question her statement.

"That...is only if the pet actually loves their owner to try and return to them."

Hearing this, both Hazel and Astrid arched their brows, clearly confused by Olga's statement.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Dolk...along with the rest of us...have no intention of returning to that bastard...you call a brother. And Dolk...was especially adamant on this."

"What?"

Astrid couldn't believe what she heard from her former companion, and honestly, neither could Hazel. So, after everything that happened, Dolk no longer had any desire to return to Kollr's side and work alongside him? Just what exactly drove him to make such a decision, despite what he did to Astrid?

While Hazel mentally questions Dolk's motives, Astrid suddenly spoke up, bringing her out of her inner thoughts.

"Hazel, could you give me a moment to be alone with Olga..." She asked calmly. "There are still certain things that I wish to ask her. Privately."

Hazel hesitated to comply, knowing what that meant. "If I leave you alone with her, I would also likely be unable to keep her from moving. Is that alright?"

She wasn't sure what her dark elf partner was planning, but it certainly concerned her due to the implications of what she asked.

Astrid simply nodded her head, not even glaring at Hazel. "Yes, I'm sure. Please."

Hearing Astrid plead for Hazel to listen, all she could do then was respect her wishes and left it to her. Unable to do anything to dissuade her, Hazel calmly turned around and looked away from the dark elf, Olga. This, in turn, deactivated her evil eyes.

Once she was free from Hazel's evil gaze, Olga gasped before collapsing on the floor. Meanwhile, Hazel began to float in the air with the help of Telekinesis.

"I'll head over to Kane and the others and see what's going on over there. Be careful with her, alright?"

Astrid smiled smugly. "No need to tell me twice. I'll see you in a minute."

Hazel gave her a brief nod before she zipped through the air and headed toward the fifth floor of the hospital, leaving Astrid with her former companion. In the back of her mind, Hazel worried about what her partner was likely going to learn regarding Dolk and the rest of the dark elves' betrayal.

Putting that thought aside for now, Hazel flew over to the fifth floor of the hospital. Making it to the massive hole in the wall, she went through it and saw Kane and the other players currently surrounding the two players who betrayed them. She believed that their names were Simon and Matthew.

The two traitors were currently bound by some kind of spell, likely from one of the other players with them. Though Simon should've been able to break free. Then again, Kane, Chegyaeyi, and John were there, and all of them were around level thirty. Meanwhile, Simon was only level twenty-seven, so he likely wasn't going to be able to do anything to them.

Once Hazel showed herself, Kane and the rest of her allies turned in her direction.

"Ah, good, you made it," Kane said. "Good timing, we were questioning these players as to what was happening and who that attacker from before was."

"Then I'll be able to help out in that regard," she declared while walking over to Simon and Matthew.

The two traitor players looked up at Hazel with scornful gazes and a hint of caution. Meanwhile, Hazel looked down at the two players with a calm yet menacing grin while underneath her transparent veil, her eyes flared a purple light as she stared at them.

"Now then, let's see what you two have to say, huh?"
