Hexbound Apocalypse [LitRPG Apocalypse] (Book 3 Finished!)

Chapter 148: The Next Step

"So, where do you want this?" Hazel asked one of the players while lifting a large stack of wooden logs in the air through Telekinesis.

"Over there, if you please," The player told her, pointing over where more stacks of wood were piled up.

Hazel briefly nodded at the player before calmly walking over to the pile of logs. She then carefully placed her current stack on the current on. As she did, several workers stopped and watched this happen, completely amazed by how effortlessly she was doing her task. Then again, this was only possible because of her telekinesis spell, which she was currently presenting to the rest of the players around her instead of hiding it.

After Hazel revealed her Telekinesis spell, she saw no point in trying to only use it when others weren't looking or around and simply used it as much as possible. And while this was attracting a lot of attention, she didn't care much about that.

Of course, there was another reason why Hazel was attracting so much attention compared to before. It was because of her current appearance. While nothing much had changed regarding her attire, like her dress and whatnot, there was now a new piece of clothing added to it. And that was her Arcane Veil, the item she received after killing the spider queen.

She wasn't sure why, but after putting on the veil and walking around the Valiant Guild's base and village for a while, she somehow gathered a lot of onlookers. Perhaps it was because of how her current appearance somehow changed her entire atmosphere. When she had the blindfold, she gave off a more mature yet mystical aura. But with the veil over her head, she still gave off a mystical appearance due to her magic abilities, but she was now more mysterious and perhaps even menacing.

To put it simply, she gave off the appearance of one of those Mysterious figures from fantasy novels and movies that warn people of an ominous future, like an army of undead rising from the graves to attack the kingdom or some demonic being manifesting in their world to wreak havoc. In essence, a good majority of the people within the base were afraid yet curious about her.

Even now, as Hazel strolled through the village to help out in developing this place, she noticed that several players kept their distance yet keenly watched her from afar. She was like a wolf being watched by campers who were both curious yet frightened of her presence. Hazel wasn't certain how to feel about this, but felt that it would be better to ignore everyone's stares and focus on her tasks.

There was something that she noticed while wearing the veil, and that was the fact that she could clearly see through it. A veil was basically a type of cloth that was somewhat transparent, allowing the user barely enough visibility to be practical. However, with the Arcane Veil, it was different.

Instead of a good majority of her vision being blocked out by the cloth, she was somehow able to properly see everything as if she wasn't wearing one in the first place. It was so surprising that Hazel couldn't help but feel disturbed by this feature. It felt like she wasn't wearing the veil at all.

Aside from that, her stats have also increased along with some more features. Not only could the Arcane Veil inhibit her evil eyes so she didn't have to wear a blindfold, but she could also enhance them to a certain extent when activated. Of course, there was also the fact that this item also kept players from viewing her status window, which only reinforced her mysterious nature more.

Hazel continued to walk around the village, helping around as she did, from lifting heavy objects to keeping certain objects in place for players to work on them, all with the help of her Telekinesis. Because she was using it for all kinds of tasks, she was getting a lot of experience from using it. In fact, it got to the point where she came up with some new ways or methods on how to utilize the spell differently.

Once she was done helping the players in the village, she planned to head out somewhere to test those methods out and see if they worked.

It had already been a day or so since the death of the Spider Queen and the completion of the Spider Queen's curse quest. Aside from the arcane Veil, she also obtained a few more precious items like magic chalk and magic ink, which would be used for summoning and runecrafting, respectively. She also obtained a rather interesting item called an Arcane Heart.

According to what its description said, all she needed to do was fuse her heart with the item, and she would essentially be equipping it so that it could be used. However, when she attempted to do this, she faced a bit of a problem.

This item apparently possessed a level requirement where you had to reach a certain level to even use it. And for the Arcane Heart, she discovered that she needed to be Level 50. Considering that Hazel was currently level thirty-six, she needed to level up fourteen more times to meet the requirement, which would likely take a lot longer than she expected.

Because of that, Hazel had no choice but to let the item rot in her storage bracelet until she was level fifty, however long that would take. Putting aside the Arcane Heart complications, she focused on more pressing matters, which were Zoe's objective involving the development of the Valiant Guild. While making the village capable of housing more members was one of the guild's priorities, the same could be said for them to expand their influence and territory.

As a newly developed guild in an unclaimed land, Zoe was capable of expanding her guild through both territory and influence. The territory aspect was mainly where she would obtain more land and claim it under the Valiant Guild. The more land she possessed, the more formidable she would become. Then there was her influence, and this aspect stemmed from both her relationship with other guilds and her general power compared to them.

Since Hazel had been joining the guild's meetings regarding their next plan, she knew what Zoe and the other players planned to do first. And that was trying to establish more land and do some scavenging for materials. Because they were so busy dealing with the spider queen, the guild barely scavenged through the city to obtain supplies and the like to properly maintain their territory.

Aside from that, Hazel also had to deal with her other quests.

<System Quest> "Bring The Dark Elf home!" Difficulty: Easy Objective: Keep your promise to Astrid and bring her back to her Tribe. Reward: 1000 Points and the Gratitude of the Greyvolk Tribe

<System Quest> "Form or Join a Guild!" Difficulty: Easy Objective: You must either form or Join a Guild of your choosing. Reward: 10 World Points for Joining a Guild/1000 Points for Creating a Guild

Putting aside the "Form/Join a Guild" quest, Hazel was currently focusing on the quest involving the promise she made to Astrid. Now that the spider queen was dealt with, she could finally do this quest.

Aside from the World Points, Hazel was a bit curious about what "the gratitude of the Greyvolk Tribe" entailed. Did that mean they would be friendly to her, regardless of the circumstances, or what? Despite how straightforward it sounded, she couldn't help but feel that it was unreasonably vague. Then there was the issue that she didn't earn any loot boxes from this quest. Either of them, actually.

While Hazel didn't plan to back down from her promise to Astrid, she was a bit annoyed that her rewards didn't involve a loot box. Defeating the Cyclops back in the Fractured Dungeon gave her a loot box, and the same went for her doing team kills with Astrid. And yet, her reward for bringing back Astrid was just the Gratitude of the dark elf tribe. This honestly felt like a total scam, in her humble opinion.

Still, she wasn't going to back out of the quest. Or in this case, her promise to Astrid. Mainly because she believed that the dark elf would possibly kill her if she even tried to break their promise. Of course, it would be completely valid since Hazel did promise, and it was her fault that Astrid got stuck in Portland with her.

Getting back on topic, Hazel and Astrid now had a chance to fulfill the quest now that the queen was killed and the curse on them was lifted. So, all that was left to do was pack their things and prepare to depart for the Great Forest of Meir.

Hopefully, they wouldn't run into any trouble when they did.
