My Magical System

Chapter 282: Who’s running away?

It looked like the strong magical force he felt a while ago was from Rossbert. But looking at Rossbert now, he looked very weak and exhausted. Glancing around, Eman noticed the result of a fierce battle.

No wonder Rossbert looked so spent. He must be battling them all at once. Still, it was admirable that Rossbert defeated many of them.

While he was in such thoughts, the enemy sneakily launched a strike after cutting their distance with his quick movements. But Eman noticed it and launched a fast counter.

A fast kick that connected in the enemy's jaw sent the enemy flying back.

How he could react that fast…!

With his face plastered with surprise, the enemy could not believe Eman's fast reaction. When his feet landed on the floor, blood dripped out of his mouth.

He did not expect this masked person to have so much physical power. Aside from the weapon in his hand, he did not give an impression that he was such a person.

Anyway, the cause of his surprise was not only due to that. There was no way a purely physical attack could hope to cause injury to his demonized body.

He believed that demonic power excelled in both physical and magical strength.

That attack must be just a ploy, perhaps that person was hiding some other strong artifacts under his skin.

"Who exactly are you?" He asked again.

There was a second or two of silence before Eman responded. "A cult slayer… I guess," he said.

Cult slayer…?

Hearing that, he concluded that he was truly an enemy. The enemy glared at him. It was the more reason he needed to kill this man and get all the artifacts he was hiding.

"Cult slayer, you said? You must be joking with yourself. Someone like you is just like an ant in the face of the cult," the demonized leader mocked him.

Killing this man wasn't actually difficult for him. He could end his life whenever he wanted. But first, he had to ask him who he was and why he knew about the cult. Well, even if he didn't answer, he had some ways to make him answer all his questions.

He lifted his palm and pointed it toward Eman's direction. Eman noticed four magic circles around them.

"Watch out! Those are binding chains!"

Despite having difficulty in breathing, Rossbert still sent a warning.

Eman hastily picked Rossbert and the two of them jumped out the window.

The chains indeed came out of those magic circles and chased them.

"Trying to escape? Heh! That's useless!" Eman and Rossbert heard the enemy say that.

It was time to make this idiot pay for what he did to me. Thought the demonized leader.

One of the chains was able to catch Eman's foot, but Eman shot it with his pistol and the chain broke, then set his foot free.

Landing below, he quickly tossed Rossbert up in the air. Rossbert looked surprised. But his body could not move. The side effect of using such a massive amount of magical energy was already in effect. He could not move like his whole body was paralyzed.

Rossbert wondered who this person was and why he was helping him. But the enemy was so strong and it was hard to fight against him alone because of those binding chains.

Moreover, aside from those chains, the enemy also had strong mental attacks.

Nonetheless, why did he throw him in mi-air?! While Rossbert was so bothered by it, a figure suddenly passed at the corner of his eyes. Then the next moment, Rossbert was caught by it.

Eh?

Rossbert found himself between the claws of a big creature. Probably a giant bird. He believed so. He wondered if it was that person's pet. Also, is he a friend or an enemy? Rossbert wondered about that, but seeing that he helped him from the enemy's attack a while ago, there was a big chance that he was not an enemy.

At least that's how his actions look to him. In any case, he needed to warn him about the enemy's abilities.

Just as Rossbert was about to force himself to say something, at that moment, they heard a loud crash from the room they came from.

Rustle~

The mansion was shaking. And in the following moments, the binding chains came out like wild snakes.

The room of that mansion was destroyed. A big portion of the roof and walls had turned to debris.

The binding chains directly came to attack Eman.

"Watch out… Ngh!" Rossbert tried to warn him, but his voice was so weak and he even groaned because of the searing pain he felt after trying to force his body.

A loud crash happened when the binding chains hit the spot where Eman was standing. Rossbert felt regretful because his warning did nothing to help.

"Heh, do you think you can run away from me?" The enemy asked as he jumped out of the room as well. "Don't worry. I won't kill you yet. I need to get all the artifacts you have in your possession. And I also need you to answer some of my questions."

The enemy landed on the ground with a loud thud. He was surrounded by binding chains like his loyal guardians.

He walked towards where the binding chains were constricting the masked man. However, after three to four steps, his grin suddenly froze and was replaced by an expression of surprise. He slowly looked down. He saw a red blade protruding from his stomach.

What? How?

He asked in mind.

"Who's running away?"

He suddenly heard a whisper from behind him.

"Damn you!"

With bloodshot eyes, the demonized enemy swung his claw behind him. But his attack hit no one but empty air. Or more accurately to say, it hit nothing because his arm was cut.

Arggh! He stepped back while groaning. "You!" He bellowed. But Eman disappeared once again and materialized beside the enemy. Before the demonized enemy could do something, a strong kick hit his side and sent him tumbling to the ground.

Bam!

Dust rose up at that moment.

Rossbert was watching the fight with indescribable feelings. He could not believe the speed of that person.

No, it wasn't only as simple as speed. That man, he could change his position at will!

Rossbert thought.
