Ken wasn't the type to like being bare in front of everybody with all of his secrets exposed, no matter what kind of information it was about him.

So when more secrets were added on top, and layers built on top of layers, people could never blow out the fog of mystery from him.

This was one of the reasons why he didn't use the gacha before; another is that he was too caught up and forgot...

Taking his turn for the ascension trial as he was used to, his turn came up, and he entered the trial gate.

"Hello hello, challenger... KEN! You're here!" The tower spirit shouted in happiness once she confirmed that it was Ken who came this time, and her voice reverberated in the dark space where only Ken's consciousness resided.

"You can't imagine how many times I've heard disciples come in here and speak about you and how they wanted to become like you and repeat what you told them about in whatever that gathering they were mumbling about." The spirit spoke about some cases she heard the past few days and immediately got back into her usual cheerfulness when she was alone with him.

"Good to see you again, tower spirit." Ken smiled inwardly and said these words.

He was getting used to her constant talking and wasn't as disturbed by it as when he's in the middle of a crowd.

Listening to her and her tiny cute voice was more soothing than annoying; thus, the reason why he never complained and always treated her kindly.

"... Yeah, good to see you again, Ken." The spirit replied more calmly before both of them remained silent for a few seconds.

"The second trial, is it? You'll take the test run, I assume." The spirit was the first to speak.

"You know me best." Ken agreed.

"Very well." The air changed, and Ken found himself right outside of the cave where the first trial ended.

"A continuation, huh?" Ken looked around, and before he moved, the message from the tower spirit came for him.

"There is a bandit group within this forest, and you have to integrate yourself within their group." This was the task, simple and outright.

Ken nodded and looked forward, hints already showing him the way right to the center of the forest where the bandit group resided.

But Ken looked elsewhere; he looked to the right, the far end of the forest, and thought to himself before he asked a question.

"What would happen if I forgot the mission and went to the edge of the forest?" He asked.

"You'll fail the task." the spirit replied as calmly as she was asked.

"So no need to try." Holding back his inner impulse, Ken then focused on the task at hand.

The task was to join the bandit group, and that implied that they shouldn't be wary of him, and he should seamlessly join.

This task was, in a way, much easier than the first, assuming there was no danger on the way there, but there most likely is.

Thus, Ken just decided to take the easy way there, and when he came across the bandits, he would challenge the leader and take his place.

Bandits didn't need rules.

That would definitely give a high score.

First, the time it takes, as always, should be important. Second, actually succeeding in the task, as you could die, and lastly, how smoothly one joins should be some kind of criterion; if not, then there should be a difference between just joining and becoming the leader, right?

All in all, Ken had enough time to find out; this was just a test run after all.

and his hints were there to help anyway.

And thus, Ken moved.

The cliff was high on a mountain, and it was where the cave was, possibly some hidden prison, but in any case, there was a slope of a path that led all the way down to the forest.

But Ken didn't need it. His mastery over his xian liansuo allowed him to be the Spider-Man of this world.

He could either use the chains or the strings to mimic flying in the sky, and that too without so much as hurting himself by landing on the floor or anything.

And that's exactly what he did.

Stepping on the edge of the cliff, he ignored all the danger down the path and jumped... free-falling all the way until he started feeling trouble.

There, he summoned his Sealed Mirage and transformed a part of it to use the chain blade.

Using his strength, he launched it until it pierced through a tall tree that was sticking out, and the controlled length of the chain allowed for the possibility to launch himself forward.

And this way, Ken approached the location of the bandits in record time.

Of course, at some point, the elders and those who were interested in watching him amongst the higher echelon and the core sect disciples took some time to watch, and many of them caught sight of this crazy move that made them feel the thrill of the air on Ken's figure.

But, for such people, flying or danger wasn't something foreign, yet such an act wasn't something anyone could claim to have done, and now, the young and adventurous disciples had one more desire added to their to-do list for when they are out on a mission.

While Ken was using both his chains and strings to maneuver and traverse the forest at high speed, something caught his attention.

A blinding light from a certain direction and a huge explosion that warned anyone from coming close.

*GROOOOOOOOOOOAR* *EEEEEEEEEK*

A sound that had unmistakably come from two beasts who were possibly fighting each other and on the verge of death.

And hearing this, Ken locked onto the hint that showed up in that direction...
