The two of them emptied the whole place, took the torches with the holy fire, took everything on the three shelves, and did not leave the shelves either.
They plundered the whole place and at the end, took even the small tiles placed around the place.
They looked around the entire special chamber but they did not find anything. With every light gone, there was pitch black darkness all around them once again as well.
"If it's not here, then what could it be? Are we missing something, Uni?"
He did not know what to do, and he did not know what to understand right now.
The dungeon was over, the test was over, the only thing left was finding the traces of the lost messenger.
'What are these traces and what are we missing?'
Unity came and sat down on his head.
[{ I don't know either, master. It's strange… I think we should think backwards. Perhaps we have already come across the clue but haven't realised it just yet. There's all kinds of mentions of the angels, right? }]
She had grown stronger. The skills she obtained were also going to be pretty useful for their battles in the future.

============
The two new skills she got were not as simple as her previous skills. These skills used to be something KiRA used in the combats even in the later stages of the game.
The game was dangerous when they had to fight against beings who possessed divinity, but the {Energy disruption} skill could disrupt any kind of energy as long as the opponent possessed an energy Unity was familiar with.
It depended on the stats she possessed as well, but once she recovers her powers further, stats will not matter to them anymore.
The reason she did not get a title or authority was also the same. If she gets them, the balance would be disrupted instantly and she would have to justify her existence to the laws of the world.
The other skill, something that utilised these laws and in certain cases influenced the flow of the laws, was also something pretty absurd.
It wasn't an easy task, but then again, things are going fine for them right now. Once they get used to certain things, they will recover their powers a little faster.
"Thinking backwards… hmmm… it's possible, surely. I've had this feeling that I've been missing something as well.
Let me think about it for a while."
The two skills were great but they weren't important right now. He needed to deal with the issue at hand first.
"We reached this place after a great difficulty. Those sandwyrms, the vestige of the nobles of night, there were monsters and nature standing against them.
Once they reached the ruins, they were transported to a dungeon. Then, once they cleared the dungeon with much difficulty, they fell into this ruin, and now that they have finished the ruin, they don't know where they are to find the traces of the divine messenger.
"An angel doesn't stay among the mortals since they possess divinity themselves. All angels are celestials, beings who reside in the celestial heaves."
Pure white wings and a halo, looks that would seduce any being and purify their soul with their mere presence… beings who took these mortal forms more often these days.
The angels were beings that humans cannot understand in their original form, but when they take the humanoid forms with feathers that are considered to be divine representation of purity.
Their creators are original gods different from the ascended entities and the lords that gather in heaven.
The final ten floors that Unity used to manage when he left for the final floor contained all the godly higher realms including celestia, heaven, and the grand library of the world.
The higher beings reside there. And aside from a few, most of them cannot leave the place even if they want to.
They are higher beings because they possess divinity and have ascended to that position, leaving behind their connection with the rest of the world.
"The angels are the messengers or the gods. The goddess must have also sent an angel messenger."
There was no certainty, but if one thought about it, it just made sense. That does not mean it was the truth, if they are only thinking about following the premise, there is a greater chance he was wrong.
There was no direct evidence. He was only trying to infer the truth based on the clues that he had.
"Inference… wait. If we are to infer something, shouldn't we consider everything that we have experienced until now."
KiRA tried forgetting the boundaries.
This wasn't a ruin, the dungeon that he was sent to wasn't a dungeon, everything he had experienced until now, ever since he obtained the quest, he tried thinking about all of these things in a logical sense.
He connected everything, he dived deeper into his consciousness, he entered Zone and started playing different scenarios where he analysed different aspects of one thing in his head.
This was the first time he was doing something like this outside of the game, but his body and mind remembered the experience.
The process was simple.
Everything that senses take in is data. All this data is gathered in a lake.
When his mind tries to make sense of anything the senses experience, they label it and organise the information in a way the conscious mind can understand.
Beyond this categorisation was what he understood as the raw data… he accessed that information for the first time since the tower disaster.
'It's not the things before the ruin.'
He concluded what he had experienced before reaching the ruins wasn't related to the answer he was seeking.
'It's not the place we had reached.'
The outside or the ruins that they saw at first wasn't the answer either.
'It's not this test area either.'
KiRA went deeper and his mind processed the information that would otherwise be locked away in a 'trash' like state.
When he processed this information, his body was draining a large volume of energy constantly.
His entire body was covered in sweat while a subtle light was exuding his body.
'I got the quest because I used the skill without justified reasoning. The authority wasn't sufficient.'
The golden halo and wings, they are representations of angels. But that does not mean this skill actually belonged to angels.
If he was searching for a messenger, he should be searching for not an angel but a being that was best considered to be the messenger of the God of First Light.
'What were regarded as the familiars of their god?'
From all the six dome's murals, it was certain that the Angels they knew possessed the same 'presence' as the angels he knew. The messenger, however, possessed wings of light and a burning halo of flames.
'But these are the features of the skill, not actual angels.'
Surely the angels possess a halo and wings, but they aren't limited to wings of light and only one halo of flames.
For true angels, these would be limitations.
'Then what was that messenger?'
They followed the quest given to them by their god, but what happened to the messenger possessing the skill, who supposedly wasn't an angel.
'Do the murals have the answer?'
On the outside, Unity was using her buffing skills on him after realising what was happening right now. She had seen him like this a few times, in a state of deep concentration, and knew what to do in times like these.
She looked after him while he looked for the answer, and, miraculously, he found it as well.
'The people of Tatar gave more importance to the messenger.'
The wings around the entire pathway which still ended up glowing when all the lights were turned off.
There was not one depiction of their god within the murals but several depictions of what seemed to be angels, beings that they hadn't actually met directly.
The messenger was sent to deliver the will of their god, but, somehow, it ended up influencing the people of Tatar more than it ever should have.
'Intentional or unintentional, the messenger sinned. And as a result…'
The god that it served took away everything that belonged to it, including this skill that KiRA had right now.
'This ruin isn't made to honour their god.'
KiRA finally reached the conclusion and dived out of the deep consciousness, safely returning to his body and opening his eyes, his heartbeat still high, and his eyes covered in shock.
"They wanted to deny their god…"
It wasn't just KiRA's opinion.
[Ding!]
[You have completed the quest.]
It was the truth that the world never got to know.
A truth that one might not find anywhere outside of a few of these ruins left behind by the ancient civilisation.
"It makes sense."
Now that he thought about the previous Tatar ruins he had come across, a few things that never made sense to him seemed completely logical.
And now that he knew that, he also understood why the Goddess left the persona of the God of First light, only existing as the goddess of light and purity.
"But if that's true…"
Things will be more complicated once he reaches the higher floors and comes across the followers of the goddess.
"Since we know the truth now, there's no way one of the biggest religions in the entire tower will just leave us be."
She's going to have their necks.
Even though there were restrictions now, KiRA was certain that goddess was not going to leave them be anymore.
