Adam saw the axe on the ground. A discarded tool left by some long-forgotten worker. He moved back. And he immediately punched Philips again. A sharp punishing blow to the stomach. He said "Answer quickly. I don't have much time."
After hearing this Philips also realized that he also did not have much time. He knew that the families were coming. That they were closing in. So he immediately said "Okay okay I am ready. What do I have to do?" His voice was laced with a desperate fear.
After hearing this Adam moved his height to the side. He created some space between them. And he took out an automatic rifle from his inventory. And he immediately held it in Philips's hand and said "Get ready quickly. We don't have much time."
After saying this Adam looked at Sophia. And calling Sophia near he made her stand on his side. And he said "Let's go from here as soon as possible." Saying this Adam started to run with Sophia. Philips also started to run behind Adam and Sophia. Although his hand was still broken. The pain was immense. But he knew that if he showed weakness now he would also die. He would be left behind. Although he did not have much hope. But still he was taking the help of a hope. A small flicker of a chance to survive. Using which he would either kill Sophia before dying. He would not let this chance go in vain in any condition. He would not die alone.
While running behind Adam Philips reached near this building a short distance away. It was an old abandoned factory. The same one where in the last loop Adam and Sophia had reached to escape. And where Adam had died. Adam saw his movement around. And he knew that all the people had not arrived yet. He had a few moments of a head start. However as soon as Adam thought this the rain of bullets started. The sound of gunfire echoed through the empty streets. After which Adam took out his face from the side of a building. He looked outside. And he found out that many people had come there. They were swarming the area. However like before the path in front of them was not blocked. They could still move forward. Adam was waiting for Cyan to contact him. And his wait did not go in vain. Then Cyan's message came to him. It was a single word in his ear. "Ready." Who said "We are in position. Reach the second building as soon as possible." After hearing this Adam smiled. And taking Sophia he said to Philips behind "Follow me." Saying this Philips Sophia and Adam immediately entered the building next to them.
After entering there we saw the scene from a little while ago. Inside Adam's house. Where as soon as Adam contacted Cyan Drake immediately said "We don't have to do it. Even if Adam is right we still have a good chance. We can run away from here. We can leave him to his fate."
After hearing this Monica suddenly said "No. We have to help Adam." Slowly getting to know Adam Monica had understood in what situation Adam lived. Adam lived in a situation just like them. Where they used to live. A life of constant danger and fear. Although they did not have any support. So they were in such a situation. That is why Monica also wanted to give a support. Because she saw her own reflection in Adam. A lonely and hunted soul.
After saying this Cyan took a deep breath. And he said "I agree with Monica's words. And anyway if anything happens to any of us Adam will definitely come to save us. I believe that." Hearing this everyone looked at each other. They saw the same doubt and uncertainty in each other's eyes. And then Samanta said "Okay. What's the plan now?" She was a pragmatist. If they were going to do this they were going to do it right.

Hearing Samanta's question Cyan looked at the small blueprint of the area laid out on the table in front of them. He pointed to a building adjacent to the one Adam and Sophia were headed for. "Adam is leading them to this abandoned construction site. The enemy will follow him there. They won't expect us to intervene."
He then looked at Drake. "Drake you and I will take the rooftops of the surrounding buildings. We will provide sniper support. Your job is to create chaos and confusion among their ranks. Don't let them establish a clear line of sight on Adam's position." Drake nodded a serious expression on his face. He understood his role perfectly.
Cyan then turned to Monica and Samanta. "You two will be our ground support. Monica you know the layout of these streets better than anyone. I need you to create a diversion on the east side. Draw some of their forces away from the construction site. Samanta you will be our extraction team. Get the van ready. As soon as Adam gives the signal we move in and get them out."
Everyone nodded in agreement. They were a well-oiled machine. They knew their roles. They knew the risks. But they were ready. They were The Ghost Group. And they would not let their new ally fall.
The scene shifted back to Adam and Sophia. They were running through the dark and narrow corridors of the abandoned construction site. The sound of gunfire echoed behind them. Philips was struggling to keep up his broken arm causing him immense pain. But he did not complain. He knew that his life depended on it.
Adam led them to a large open area in the center of the building. It was a perfect kill zone. But it was also the only place where he could see all the entrances and exits. He pushed Sophia behind a large concrete pillar. He said to her "Stay here. Don't move no matter what you hear." Sophia nodded her eyes wide with fear.
Adam then turned to Philips. He said "You stay with her. Protect her with your life." Philips looked at Adam surprised. He did not expect Adam to trust him with such a task. But he nodded his head. A new sense of purpose filled him. He would not fail. Not this time.
Adam then took a deep breath. He took out his own guns from his inventory. He was ready. He stood in the open waiting for them to come. And they did. They poured into the open area from all sides. A wave of black-clad soldiers. They all raised their guns and aimed them at Adam. The air was thick with tension. The final showdown was about to begin.
—
The black-clad soldiers didn't hesitate. A storm of bullets erupted from their rifles all directed at the lone figure of Adam. He moved with a speed that was almost inhuman a blur of motion in the dimly lit construction site. The bullets sparked and ricocheted off his body his Iron Skin skill absorbing the brunt of the assault. But even he couldn't withstand such a barrage forever. A few bullets found their mark piercing his skin and drawing blood.
From the rooftops above Drake and Cyan opened fire. Their sniper rifles were silent but deadly. One by one the enemy soldiers fell their heads exploding in a shower of red. The chaos and confusion that Drake and Cyan created gave Adam the opening he needed.
He charged forward a whirlwind of fists and feet. He moved through the enemy ranks like a force of nature. He was a one-man army a relentless and unstoppable killing machine. The soldiers who had seemed so menacing just moments before were now just lambs to the slaughter.
Meanwhile on the east side of the building Monica had created her diversion. A series of small explosions rocked the area drawing the attention of a significant portion of the enemy forces. They rushed to investigate leaving the main battleground with fewer numbers.
Samanta had the van ready. The engine was running. She was waiting for the signal. Her eyes were glued to the small monitor that showed a live feed from a drone hovering high above the construction site. She could see the battle unfolding below. She could see Adam fighting. She could see him winning.
Adam was a whirlwind of destruction. He had taken out most of the enemy soldiers. Only a handful remained. They were scared. They were cornered. And they were desperate. They all turned their guns on Sophia and Philips who were still hiding behind the concrete pillar.
Adam saw this. His eyes widened in horror. He was too far away. He couldn't reach them in time. He shouted "No!"
But then something unexpected happened. Philips who had been cowering in fear just moments before stood up. He raised the automatic rifle that Adam had given him. And he opened fire on the enemy soldiers. His aim was shaky. His hands were trembling. But his bullets found their mark. He took down two of the soldiers before they could even react.
The remaining soldiers were shocked. They turned their attention to Philips. A volley of bullets ripped through his body. He fell to the ground a pained expression on his face. But he had bought Adam the time he needed.
Adam was there in an instant. He was a blur of motion. He took out the remaining soldiers with a series of brutal and efficient moves. The battle was over. The silence that followed was deafening.
Adam rushed to Philips's side. He was still alive but barely. He looked at Adam and smiled. A weak and bloody smile. He said "I... I did it. I saved her."
Adam looked at him. He didn't know what to say. He just nodded his head.
Philips's eyes started to close. He said in a faint whisper "Tell... tell my grandfather... I'm sorry." And then he was gone.
Adam just stood there. He looked at the lifeless body of Philips. He looked at the carnage around him. He had won. But it didn't feel like a victory. He had lost something too. Something that he couldn't get back.
He then heard a voice in his ear. It was Cyan. He said "Adam it's time to go."
Adam looked at Sophia. She was still hiding behind the pillar. She was crying. He went to her. He held her close. He said "It's over. We're safe now."
Sophia looked at him. Her eyes were red and swollen. She said "Philips... he... he saved me."
