Chapter 107 – A Great Contribution
Dawn broke. Morning dew nourished the earth, birds perched on branches, and light bathed the barren plains with the second sunrise.
A silver-haired elf girl, hair like moonlit gauze, stood calmly at the mountaintop. Her silvery lashes fluttered like butterfly wings as she closed her eyes to rest.
“Miss Teresa isn’t here yet?” Litt rubbed at her twin tails impatiently as she stared at the mountain pass.
“Her Highness is practically dozing off waiting, and she’s still not here. Don’t tell me she’s planning to wait until we all fall asleep and then pick us off one by one?”
“Litt, hold your tongue.” The voice of the Sea Elf, Hanyuan, flowed like a ripple on the ocean—ethereal and soothing, quelling Litt’s irritation.
It was the third day of the Crown Tournament—the final showdown—and naturally, a massive audience had gathered, including many upperclassmen.
Amid the crowd, one figure stood out particularly striking.
Different from her usual self, the amber-haired princess had come in full Coleman Academy girls’ uniform: a tied blouse with a red plaid pleated skirt, knee-high black stockings, and matched with student loafers. Her signature twin tails were still neatly tied.
The uniform was an L size—not because Felicia was particularly tall, but because anything smaller felt tight around her chest.
As for losing to Teresa, Felicia had taken some time to digest it initially, but afterward, not only did she feel no bitterness, she became unusually excited. From that moment on, another name was added to her watchlist.
Today’s finals were between the two people she cared most about, so of course she had to come and spectate.
On the projection, Astrid’s violet eyes suddenly opened, gazing toward the mountain path.
“Your Highness?” Litt looked confused.
“She’s here,” Astrid said simply.
All three turned to look, and sure enough, as soon as Astrid’s words fell, a radiant golden figure stepped into view.
Strong winds on the summit whipped the platinum blonde hair and aquamarine cloak of the approaching girl.
The moment she stepped onto the peak, violet and emerald gazes aligned.
Teresa understood the meaning in Astrid’s eyes—40% calm, 40% grievance, and 20% anticipation.
Grievance...?
Teresa didn’t understand why Astrid looked at her with that emotion. Elves were known for their punctuality. Was she upset they’d been kept waiting? But they hadn’t agreed on an exact... date? Duel time?
“You finally came.” Litt picked up her sword and shield. Her large chest bounced enticingly with her excitement. “Miss Teresa, Her Highness Astrid has been waiting a long time.”
“Thank you for waiting.” Now fully restored, Teresa regained her poise and spirit. Placing one foot behind, she bowed with grace. “Lady Astrid, thank you for your generous aid yesterday—and for all the help you’ve given us throughout this time. I, and my Divine Child, are both deeply grateful.”
“It’s nothing.” Astrid’s eyes remained as still as a calm lake, only shifting slightly at the mention of “my Divine Child.”
“Though so many teams were eliminated, not a single member of your team was lost.” Teresa’s gaze flicked toward the three elf girls behind Astrid, speaking with admiration.
“Protecting one’s companions is a Divine Princess’s duty,” Astrid responded, her voice ethereal, yet Teresa could detect a hint of reproach in it.
And Teresa understood.
What Astrid meant was likely a veiled scolding—blaming her for not protecting her own teammate, letting Dylin be eliminated in the first round.
But could she really be blamed? Besides, that was the fake Dylin. Keeping her around would’ve only been a burden. The real Dylin stood right here.
“I see.” Teresa nodded, pretending not to understand the underlying meaning.
“Then, shall we begin?” Teresa smiled. “After all, neither of us is going to hand over victory, are we?”
At her words, the other three elf girls exchanged glances but said nothing—until Astrid unsheathed the elf curve blade at her waist.
“To cross blades with you is my honor, Miss Teresa.” Astrid slung the blade behind her back and placed one hand to her chest, bowing with the elegance of elf ritual.
“The honor is mine. Please don’t hold back, Lady Astrid.” Teresa’s smile lingered, but her eyes remained fixed on Astrid.
It wasn’t pride. It was the simple belief—when it came to battle, she wouldn’t lose to Astrid or anyone else.
That conviction was etched in her very bones, the force that drove her to enter the Crown Tournament and reach the final match.
Without a word, in a flash, an arrow was nocked to the bow.
Teresa raised her longbow, spreading the Wings of Light and targeting all four opponents’ throats at once with precise and cunning angles.
‘Detected enemy concentrating Divine Authority. Prepare accordingly.’
The Divine Princess Elf calmly used Soul Communication to notify her team and activated Divine Appraisal.
“...”
A flicker of surprise crossed her eyes after activation.
Name: Teresa XXXX
(The rest was a string of unreadable garbled code.)
Domain: [XX’s Blessing]
Domain Effect: Teresa may wield XX. When she holds X types of XX, she gains the domain’s protection. Receives XXXXX. Completely XXXXX...
What was this?!
The Divine Princess Elf was startled. In over ten years walking the Divine Child’s path, she had never encountered such bizarre, glitched-out data.
Though much of the code was patched over, she could still piece some of it together—but it would take time.
Shifting to the Divine Authority section, she wasn’t surprised to find more garbled symbols.
She hadn’t expected to see any specific details; just accessing the general domain info was already a rare success.
Still, what she saw shocked her.
【XXXXXXX XX】
【XX Fragrance】
【Sovereignty of All Forests】
Three entries?!
Was her Divine Authority just... exceptionally complex? Or did she really have three of them?
Unwilling to assume the outrageous, she leaned toward the former—it must be a domain quirk.
The light arrows loosed, slicing through the air toward the four girls’ throats.
“Here we go!” Litt stepped forward and, just like that, all the arrows were redirected toward her, slamming into her great shield and absorbed completely.
Teresa activated Divine Appraisal on Litt and realized it was a Divine Authority effect.
All minor Divine Authority attacks in her vicinity were forcibly redirected to her. And her domain allowed her to absorb such minor authorities.
Once the absorption hit a threshold, she could release [Revival of All Woods].
A taunt-type Divine Authority? Then minor attacks were pointless…
Teresa tugged on her arrow fletching. Her golden wings folded in as she gathered power—A phoenix’s cry echoed as a blazing golden arrow erupted.
Astrid gently swept her curved blade. A crescent of silver moon flame surged out and clashed with the golden arrowhead, scattering its force.
Teresa leapt aside, narrowly avoiding the silver blaze.
So this was how they’d reached the finals without losing a single member.
Litt acted as a wall, absorbing all Divine Authority attacks. Astrid struck from behind with silver fire. An impenetrable fortress of coordinated attack and defense.
Indeed, in a four-against-one like this, Teresa stood no chance if she couldn’t break their formation.
However...
She glanced at the [Revival of All Woods] description and considered a risky move.
Perhaps... she could gamble.
She drew again. Arrows flew and, as expected, Litt’s shield absorbed them all.
“Hmph~” Litt rested her chin on her shield and stuck out her tongue at Teresa, as if saying: Your efforts are pointless.
Earlier, Her Highness warned not to underestimate Teresa, but really, humans would always be human. This was their limit.
Wasting Divine Authority on attacks that clearly didn’t work—this Teresa didn’t seem like much.
She relaxed. Once Teresa’s energy was drained, it would be Litt’s time to shine.
“Boom boom!” Seizing Teresa’s brief opening, Astrid launched another silver flame slash.
Teresa dodged, but still took a hit to the arm. Her bow was scorched.
“I think I understand her domain,” the Divine Princess Elf finally spoke, relaying her findings to the others via Soul Communication.
Efficient coordination: attack and analysis all in sync.
Teresa was surprised. She’d hoped her domain’s secret would remain hidden longer.
And the enemy’s Divine Appraisal didn’t seem to harm the elf—proof her theory was right: at high enough skill levels, her info could be exposed.
How much they understood was another question.
She glanced at Litt’s expression—a terrible poker face—and understood immediately.
Knocked to the ground by another silver blaze shockwave, Teresa rose and kept firing arrows at Litt. Again, all were absorbed.
What was she doing?
The Divine Princess Elf was puzzled. A finalist should know better than this.
This seemed almost foolish—was she just being stubborn? Surely not.
Silver flame rippled again. Teresa evaded but was thrown down once more.
“Alright! Time for my moment!” Litt shouted, slamming her sword to the ground.
[Revival of All Woods]
A surge of green flowed from her into the land. Tender sprouts broke through the dry, cracked soil, and lush greenery spread beneath them.
A breeze from their homeland brushed their cheeks. The four elves radiated with renewed life.
However…
They weren’t the only ones who received a buff.
A subtle smile tugged at Teresa’s lips—just as she suspected.
Overflowing with absorbed energy, Litt couldn’t wait to activate her Divine Authority, eager to be noticed.
She thought it harmless—so did her team. After all, who else was around besides them?
Too bad.
A rich vitality enveloped Teresa, even stronger than what swelled around the four elves.
“Ah, what a great contribution!” Litt beamed brightly, sword raised high. To Teresa, it looked adorably dumb.
Indeed, she had made a great contribution. Teresa would be sure to thank her later.
Half-crouching, Teresa pressed her fingers together. A single green sprout formed.
“Useless!” Litt scoffed, expecting to absorb it—only for her shield to sprout a wild tangle of thorns that instantly enveloped her.
“Eek! What—what is this?!” Litt screamed, struggling to break free.
[Verdant Fragrance] worked by leeching “nutrients” from its host: Divine Authority, blood, life force—whatever was most abundant.
Just as Teresa had predicted, it prioritized Divine Authority. With Litt’s rich reserves, the power was devastating.
The shield meant to absorb Divine Authority was now utterly drained.
The sudden reversal stunned the others.
“Pure waters, heed my command!” Hanyuan waved her staff, dousing the vines in soft water to free Litt.
But the water only made them grow faster—soon, Litt was wrapped like a silken dumpling.
Astrid slashed her silver blade to help but was forced to deflect three new green sprouts heading for her, the Divine Princess, and Hanyuan.
Meanwhile—Teresa was already gone from her previous spot.
