There's Absolutely No Problem With The Magic Cards I Made!

Ch. 54

Chapter 54. Cornelia’s Weekend

It was already dawn, and a faint greyish light appeared outside the window.

Lying on the bed, Iris looked exceptionally pitiable.

Even in her slumber, her breathing was sweet and gentle.

There even seemed to be a faint smile on her face; who knows what she was dreaming of.

“You’re really something, turning her nightmare into a sweet dream through brainwashing.”

I sat on a chair beside her, looked at Iris’s condition, and couldn’t help but marvel.

“What do you mean brainwashing? This is proper sleep aid.”

Mi’e shot me a sideways glance and said softly.

“I think we should find an opportunity to exchange notes on this kind of proper technique.”

I really wanted to learn this skill from Mi’e.

A must-have skill for home and travel.

“Then you’ll have to give me a copy of the mental-type spell cards you make in the future.”

Mi’e clearly knew what I wanted to learn this for.

Me: “Of course, any joint production of our ‘Axis of Kindness’ must be shared, one for each of us.”

Mi’e: “You’ve already thought of a name for our company?”

Me: “What do you think of this name?”

Mi’e: “It’s pretty good, fits our characteristics well.”

...

Listening to the steady breathing of Iris on the bed, the slightly chilly air of the Royal Capital was so dull that it made the two of us feel unusually sleepy.

After passing through the clamorous night, it was finally time for Mi’e and me to part ways.

“I’ll probably have to stay with Iris today, so I’m not sure when I can come find you. It might be in the evening.”

Mi’e saw me to the dormitory door.

I nodded and said, “No problem, my place is open 24 hours too.”

“Then remember to prepare slippers, a towel, a toothbrush, and a cup for me.”

“Got it, got it. I’m going back to sleep. You should get some rest too.”

“Okay.”

Just as the sky was turning light, I, the criminal suspect, left my accomplice Mi’e’s dormitory.

When I returned to my own dormitory, I felt a sudden burst of exhaustion all over my body.

I walked straight to the bedroom and collapsed onto the bed.

The soft and familiar bed seemed to have a chemical reaction with me, causing me to fall into a deep sleep in an instant.

...

By the time I woke up, it was almost noon.

I stretched my body.

The soreness in my joints was the result of maintaining a poor sleeping posture for a long time.

It seemed Shijiang didn’t secretly log in this time.

She should have learned to repent.

Just as I was thinking this, that cold and familiar voice once again echoed in the bottom of my heart:

“Who did you say repented?”

“…You’ve really been eavesdropping the whole time, haven’t you.”

“No. Every time I wake up, I always hear you saying something that offends me.”

“That’s what you call chemistry.”

“Don’t you think this shows how frequently you speak ill of me every day, rather than explaining it with chemistry?”

“After all, you are wagatamashii (my soul), so what’s wrong with a little chemistry?”

“…”

She had heard me explain what wagatamashii meant before.

But to this day, she was still not used to being called that by me.

After a moment of silence, Shijiang said:

“From now on, I won’t use your body without your knowledge.”

Hearing this, I smiled happily:

“Ho ho, so Shijiang came to apologize to me. You’ll be more popular if you’re a little more honest.”

However, Shijiang said nothing. I only felt my vision gradually darken.

“Stop, stop, I misspoke! You’ve always been very popular!”

“There won’t be a next time.”

After leaving that cold sentence, Shijiang fell into a deep sleep again.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

But my expression wasn’t panicked; there was even a faint smile on my lips.

(Daily argument with Shijiang 1/1)

After finishing today’s daily task, I stretched, feeling refreshed and invigorated.

I patted my stomach.

“So hungry.”

It was time to check out the new restaurants in the school.

Teresia had once given me a food map of Heavenlit Academy, which marked the specialties and ratings of each restaurant.

There were still many good places in this school that I had not yet explored.

But to be honest, after coming to the Royal Capital, the one who left the deepest impression on me was Baron Bach’s cooking.

Perhaps it was mixed with a little seasoning called “Bach’s Fear,” which made me feel a unique flavor every time I recalled Baron Bach’s dishes.

Forget it. As a human, I shouldn’t think like that.

Maybe when I reached the fifth rank, I could use the materials dropped from Baron Bach to make a great chef.

As I thought about this, I found a restaurant that interested me and enjoyed my lunch quite happily.

...

Afternoon.

“Right, I should go check out the back mountain.”

I happened to be free, so I decided to investigate what Cornelia had been up to these past two days.

Even if she wasn’t at the back mountain today, as long as I went, I would surely find some clues.

So I strolled through the campus.

Basking in the comfortable autumn sunlight, I leisurely walked to the back mountain.

Compared to a mountain, the back mountain was more like a stretch of rolling hills.

The vegetation was much denser than in other places.

Under the sunlight, the flowers and grass glistened with a bright sheen.

Because there were few tall trees, students could see the scenery of this area clearly from a distance.

My gaze quickly caught the familiar figure.

Even though Cornelia was wearing casual clothes today, her red hair was exceptionally conspicuous no matter where she stood.

I saw Cornelia sitting under a large tree with a somewhat melancholic expression.

She rested her chin on her hands, gazing from afar at a group of elf cats on the lawn.

They looked no different from ordinary cats, but they had some magical talent.

The group of cats was eating dried fish.

It seemed that all the dried fish were brought by Cornelia.

The strange thing was, these cats didn’t seem to be eating at ease.

It was as if they were risking their lives to find food.

They always approached the cat food bowl filled with dried fish with great caution, observing Cornelia’s movements from time to time.

Only when they were sure that Cornelia, sitting in the distance, wouldn't move, would the elf cats suddenly accelerate and dash to the side of the cat food bowl.

Then they would snatch a piece of dried fish, turn around, and run.

Clearly, this group of elf cats was very afraid of Cornelia.

She had an oppressive aura similar to that of the king of beasts.

Even though she was completely human.

But in the eyes of animals, she was probably still similar to her dragon demon form in the Demon Academy.

She could only pitifully hide far away, motionless, watching the kittens eat.

“So she’s been coming here to feed the cats every day.”

I muttered to myself.

Looks like I have to help her out.

This look of wanting to pet a cat but only being able to watch from a distance was just too pitiful.

As an expert beast hunter, I wanted to make Cornelia smile.

I shook my head and smiled helplessly, then strode towards Cornelia.
