SHATTERED REALM: FORGOTTEN ECHOES

Chapter 135: Test: Attributes and Gates.

Two weeks passed them by, and Aramith's change became more and more evident with every passing hour. The sharpness in his eyes and the clarity of how he made decisions were that of an older and more experienced person.

With the exception of Mozrael, no one else knew the explosion and sucking in of Youm had been Aramith's doing. His strength and power had well surpassed Mozrael's, but he didn't show it just yet.

Sylvia persisted till Aramith reluctantly agreed to her request.

He only agreed to spar with her at dawn, two hours before the others woke up.

And not once did he use his attribute or wolf form.

HE relied solely on his physical strength, which excited Sylvia so much. He also pointed out different ways to improve her fighting style and to not just rely on her strength, but also to trick her opponent during battle.

Per their agreement, Sylvia was to avoid them during the day so others didn't suspect a thing. The school had come to accept the duel between Mozrael and Sylvia as a thing of the past, which ended with no change in the situation.

Others speculated Sylvia lost interest in Aramith entirely, and others also suggested that she was laying low to fight another day.

Their group was back to its old four-member group— Aramith, Mozrael, Elira, and Aris.

But Aris was a little distant now.

Ever since Aramith went unconscious and woke up, he'd been timid and distancing himself from Aramith. His behavios struck Aramith odd. Especially the way he decided to spend more time elsewhere.

Quite a number of times, when they were in the library, Aris would awkwardly give an excuse and leave.

But Aramith didn't mind at all. It's his life as well. He has every right to do with it as he pleases.

Then, the week after, an announcement was made during assembly.

Father Ilthane stepped forward with his usual serious expression.

"Today, we shall be dividing you based on your strength. each student will be tested to know two things." He paused a moment, "First of all, we will find out what Gate you have all broken into and send you there. And second, we wil divide you according to your attributes."

Excited squeals, mutterings of fear, and indifferent shrugs and comments came together to form an indistinct chatter that rose loud in the span of a second.

SNAP!

The whole place became silent at the sound of Father Prince's staffs.

"The exercise begins at noon!"

And with that, they were left to their devices.

So many people were nervous, and amongst those people was Mozrael. She wasn't nervous for herself, but for Aramith.

By noon, the exercise began. First, they were to check each person's attributes and know where they stood.

Things went smoothly and without a hitch.

Mozrael passed as a fire attribute, Aris passed as an Alchemist, Elira passed as water, and Aramith passed as damned.

This didn't come as a surprise as he always showed physical prowess—a common thing people with the Damned attribute had.

The next test was the checking of Gates.

Testing was done in four designated classrooms, emptied except for a pedestal with a glowing glass orb.

Among the first few was Sylvia. When she placed her hand on the orb, it shone gold, which made most students' eyes sparkle with awe.

With time, the number of students who'd checked increased. Most of them were at the Silver Gate, and a few at Bronze, and only one at Gold.

Aramith and the other three were together, with Elira in the lead, Mozrael next, before Aramith, and finally, Aris.

"Wish me luck." Elira waved as she entered the classroom.

She nervously placed her hand on the orb, which glowed Silver. She left the room, joining the other Silver Gate students, but craned her neck to see Mozraee.

Mozrael glanced at Aramith. "Be careful," she said.

"There's nothing to worry about," Aramith replied and gently pushed her.

Mozrael stepped into the room and looked at the orb.

"Place your hand on it and allow a strong amount of your energy to flow into it," Father Garrun gestured.

She took a deep breath and hesitated before placing her hand on the orb.

Closing her eyes, she focused a concentrated amount of her energy into the orb.

A bright, golden light filled the room, even illuminating through the walls. Everyone on the school grounds saw it bright and pure. It wasn't just the brightness it held that amazed them.

It was how terrifyingly pure that glow was filled with energy. It made Sylvia's earlier show of Gold look like Bronze.

Even the fathers had to pause and look, for they'd never seen anyone with such pure energy at the Gold Gate.

Father Garrun pointed for her to go stand with Sylvia. He couldn't believe it.

Up next was Aramith.

Mozrael's show had caused a small uproar among the students.

In that moment, they finally agreed that Sylvia hadn't lost interest in Aramith. It was because Mozrael was far stronger than her.

Everyone who ever underestimated her gulped.

Now they looked at Aramith with curiosity.

Aramith walked in, carefully studying the orb. He understood how it worked. ALl one had to do was inject as much concentrated energy one could produce from their own reserves, then it will show what level you were.

He'd thought it over and decided on how much he was to inject into the orb. Since he came out of his trance, he easily understood the workings of his power and knew he was also stronger than Mozrael. Revealing his full strength would be a trouble, so he calculated just how much he would inject.

Students craned their necks in more eagerness as they tried to see just how bright Aramith's glow would be. They wondered if it would glow Gold as well, or platinum.

Even Father Garrun couldn't hide the interest in his eyes as he waited. In that moment, the place had embodied the word silence as they watched the wonder boy of rumour.

Aramith calmly placed his hand on the orb and injected Youm into the orb.

For a few seconds, nothing happened, then suddenly it glowed bronze, which quickly disappeared and switched to SIlver. The silver glowed brighter than usual before dimming down.

Faces turned upside-down with disappointment.

"So he's just at the Silver Gate?"

"No way."

"Then why were two Gold Gate levels fighting over him?"

"I guess he's just a boy hiding behind a girl's skirt."

Father Garrun's expression wasn't one of disappointment or shock.

Instead, he had a smile on his face. A smile that knew something others didn't.

Aramith politely turned to leave, but.

"Hey!" He called out to Aramith.

Hey?

Even before he turned around, he sensed the danger.

Gasps filled the air as Aramith turned to see Father Garrun's huge fist crashing down on Aramith's skull with tremendous speed.
