Chapter 107 - The Minds of Mortals Are Truly Weak
Nighttime, on a mountain highway.
A fully loaded heavy truck sped along the mountain road. The driver in the driver's seat held the steering wheel with one hand and a bottle of baijiu in the other.
As the heavy metal party music blasted from inside the truck, his whole body began to move to the beat, looking completely merry and carefree.
And just then, a person suddenly walked out from the side of the road and stood in the middle of the highway.
The driver was startled and couldn't react in time; there was no time to hit the brakes.
With a loud BANG, the figure was struck solidly by the front of the truck and sent flying several dozen meters before falling from the air.
The driver stopped the truck, sitting stunned in his seat, still reeling from the shock.
It's over, it's over!
H-He... I think I hit someone…
At the speed he was going, that person was most likely dead for sure.
If it were just a fatal accident, it would be one thing; his full-coverage insurance could handle the compensation. The problem was, he was speeding on a national highway and had been drinking. If he were found out, he'd be finished!
Never mind the insurance not paying out, he himself might have to go to jail!
What to do, what to do! While there's no one on the road, should I just drive away…?
Or should I get out and check if the person is completely dead first? What if there's still a breath left, a chance to save them?
But that's probably impossible. How could anyone survive being hit by a fully loaded truck and sent flying dozens of meters? They're probably not even in one piece anymore!
Better just run!
Just as the trembling driver was about to start the truck again, the 'corpse' lying dozens of meters away suddenly moved.
Longye slowly got up from the ground, his brows furrowed as he looked at the heavy truck with its headlights shining in front of him.
What is this thing? It slammed into me the moment I landed. Is it trying to ambush me?
But even with what little spiritual energy I have left, to try and ambush me with something of this level... you're underestimating me far too much.
“H-He's standing up…?!”
Seeing Longye get up as if nothing had happened, the driver was dumbstruck, as if he had seen a ghost.
This person was clearly hit and sent flying several dozen meters, and the front of the truck is even dented! How can he be completely unharmed?!
Under the driver's puzzled gaze, Longye slowly walked to the front of the heavy truck, curiously examining it from left to right.
What kind of magical treasure is this? I've never seen one before.
The power is a little low, and the speed is slow. It needs to rely on impact to cause damage. As a weapon, it's really not that impressive.
A magical weapon like this probably couldn't even harm a Foundation Establishment stage cultivator.
However, considering the one driving this magical treasure is a mortal with no spiritual energy, I suppose it counts as a decent weapon.
The driver watched with a confused expression as Longye stood in front of the truck, sizing it up. After coming to his senses, he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. This was followed by a surge of anger. He immediately stuck his head out the window and let loose a torrent of abuse at Longye:
“Are you fucking insane?! Standing in the middle of the road in the middle of the night instead of sleeping at home! Are you trying to get yourself killed!”
“Fuck your mother's cunt! The only reason I didn't kill you is because you're damn lucky!”
“Do you have any idea you almost got me killed!”
Longye's brow furrowed slightly. He slowly placed a single hand on the front of the truck and then, with a gentle squeeze, his palm sank into the truck's front as if it were made of tofu.
With a slight exertion of his arm, the entire front of the heavy truck was directly pried up with his single hand.
The driver in his seat was suddenly thrown backwards, collapsing against the seat, his expression one of utter terror.
The front of his truck weighed at least three or four tons, yet this person had lifted it with a single hand!
How is this possible?!
Is he even human!?
“To think a mere weight such as this actually forced This King to exert strength…”
Feeling the weight of the truck's front in his hand, Longye frowned, his face full of disappointment in himself.
In order to cross into this world, he had first exhausted the vast majority of his spiritual energy in the void. After arriving in this strange world, the spiritual energy in his body was continuously leaking away.
The spiritual energy remaining in his body now wasn't even enough to maintain his half-dragon form, forcing him to keep the appearance of a mortal.
In the past, he could have sent a weight like this flying with a single breath, yet now he actually needed to exert a bit of strength just to lift it.
It seems my cultivation is still insufficient...
BOOM!
Longye casually let go of the truck's front. It slammed down heavily, and the driver inside was jolted into a daze as if he were in an earthquake. Everything inside the cab was scattered all over the floor.
“Hey, mortal. This King asks you, where is this place?”
Longye leaped onto the front of the truck, stood on the hood, and asked the driver through the windshield.
The driver was already scared stiff, leaning dazedly against his seat, unable to say a word.
Seeing this, Longye frowned again.
“You're not talking? Then This King will change the question. Do you know where Lord Demon Sovereign is?”
“If you can tell me Lord Demon Sovereign's whereabouts, This King can be merciful and spare your life.”
“Otherwise…”
As he spoke, Longye slammed a fist into the hood beneath his feet.
With a BANG, the entire front of the truck caved in and deformed!
Seeing this, the driver's eyes rolled back, his body went limp, and he fainted on the spot…
“Hmm? He fainted just like that?”
“This King hadn't even started the interrogation yet. The minds of mortals are truly weak.”
Longye frowned, his face showing deep disappointment.
Remembering Lord Shang's instructions from before he came, he grabbed the front of the truck with one hand and tossed the entire vehicle onto the nearby hillside.
Killing such a weak mortal would only stain his reputation as one of the Four Great Demon Generals.
CRASH!
The truck slammed into the hillside. The airbags deployed, enveloping the driver.
With a stomp of his foot, Longye leaped several hundred meters in an instant, heading straight for the city center.
Not long after Longye left, a passing car discovered the unconscious driver in the heavy truck and quickly called for an ambulance and the fire department.
After the driver was successfully rescued, the traffic police began a series of inquiries about the accident.
The strange thing was, the driver seemed to have gone mad, endlessly explaining that he hadn't been in a traffic accident, but had encountered a man. He said the man had the strength of ten thousand jin, lifted the entire front of the truck with one hand, and was the one who threw his truck onto the hillside.
The traffic cop was completely baffled listening to this, but he could smell the strong scent of alcohol on him.
“Sir, have you been drinking?”
The driver froze, then stammered: “Y-Yes, I drank… just a little bit…”
“You have, have you? Then please blow into this.”
The officer took out a breathalyzer and held it out to the driver.
The driver knew there was no escaping it now. He could only bite the bullet and, as instructed, take a long blow into the device.
Beep!
The officer looked at the data displayed on the breathalyzer and showed a smile of understanding.
“Sir, your blood alcohol content is 218 milligrams per one hundred milliliters, which qualifies as serious drunk driving. Given what you've been saying, we also suspect you may have taken other substances. We'll have to trouble you to come with us.”
The driver: “…”
