Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 898: Last Phase

As Shane was checking the damage report, everyone braced for the final wave as they were all expecting the worst.

Survivors across the region had already begun preparing for a last stand. Shane's Eclipse Domain activated its final barrier generator. Arial's New Genesis Shelter rerouted power to its turrets as they knew that stronger defense meant a higher chance of survival...

Raze also reinforced Springriver Manor's fallback zone.

In the meantime, Diana, despite the damage, stood ready at Silver Mine Camp with her remaining squads.

They all expected another surge of High-Tier Zombies. They could be Giant-class threats, Tyrants, Hunters, Lickers, Stalkers, Sirens, and maybe even a new variant of Zombie Lord.

But then… something strange happened.

From the horizon, the ground began to rumble, not violently, but rhythmically.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Thousands of shapes emerged from the fog.

They were not towering monsters or some sort of grotesque zombie mutations.

But… pigs.

Zombie pigs!

They weren't the usual infected animals like rats or dogs, they were familiar with…

These were bloated, pale-skinned pigs with glowing red eyes and limbs with purple veins!

Their movements were slow and they didn't have the momentum that could destroy their barricade!. They squealed and snorted as they charged forward in chaotic waves.

For a moment, no one reacted.

Then Sheena, watching from Skybreaker's cockpit, blinked.

"…Are those pigs?"

Cloud confirmed.

[ Classification: Animal-Type Zombies ]

[ Variant: Zombie Pig - Low Threat Level ]

[ Estimated Count: 12,000+ ]

Within the Eclipse Domain, Shane narrowed his eyes as he saw how a single arrow from one of the Archers easily killed the Zombie Pig.

"This… isn't a final brutal assault. It's a bonus round." Shane muttered as he couldn't see any Pig Leader Zombie or anything that was larger than the current ones.

Indeed, the first few pigs were eliminated easily. They were taken down by remaining turrets, mechs, and ranged squads.

Then someone in the front line did a quick loot!

[ You are the first to loot a Zombie Pig. You got 100% Drop Rate! ]

[ You have earned 100 Experience Points. ]

[ You have earned 2 Reputation Points. ]

[ Loots obtained: Zombie Cores x5, Item Upgrade Crystal x1, Pork Meat (Safe) x5, Pork Meat (Unsafe) x3, Spirit Recovery Potions x2, Bread x1, 500mL Water Bottle x1, Epic Grade Item Fragment x2, Legendary Grade Item Fragment x1, Skill Fragment x1 ]

He shouted across the comms.

"Whoa! Everyone! These pigs drop incredible loot! This is incredible!"

Suddenly, the mood shifted.

Across all shelters, survivors also realized what was going on!

They immediately came out of their hiding and swiftly eliminated the swarm of Zombie Pigs coming at them!

Zombie pigs were weak. They barely dealt damage. But they dropped high-tier loot, items that would normally take weeks to earn.

It was a reward wave!

***

Within the Eclipse Domain, the atmosphere shifted from dread to disbelief and then to exhilaration.

The Zombie Pigs were everywhere, squealing and stumbling across the battlefield. But they were slow, clumsy, and weak. Anyone above Level 20 could handle them without breaking a sweat.

Even the kitchen staff joined the fight.

Cooks wielded short blades and butcher knives. Logistics runners grabbed spare crossbows. A janitor named Hans used a mop handle like a spear, laughing as he skewered two pigs in one swing.

He was Level 35 with Cleaner Talent! He didn't expect this to be so easy!

It wasn't just him, everyone else working in the rear also joined it!

The outer courtyard, once a warzone, now felt like a festival of combat.

Loot notifications popped up across the Eclipse Domain.

[ You have earned 100 Experience Points. ]

[ You have earned 2 Reputation Points. ]

[ Loots obtained: Zombie Cores x3, Pork Meat (Safe) x2, Spirit Recovery Potion x1, Epic Grade Item Fragment x1 ]

The loots were long these lines for those who were unlucky… However, most of the time, they would get almost the full loot experience.

[ You have earned 100 Experience Points. ]

[ You have earned 1 Reputation Points. ]

[ Loots obtained: Zombie Cores x1,Pork Meat (Safe) x5, Pork Meat (Unsafe) x3, Spirit Recovery Potions x2, 500mL Water Bottle x1, Epic Grade Item Fragment x2, Legendary Grade Item Fragment x1 ]

However, for Shane, because of his Talent, he'd always get 100% of the loot that the Zombie could drop.

At this point, he didn't even bother equipping anything. His Bio-Armor was still damaged, and frankly, he didn't need it.

A Zombie Pig charged toward him.

He met it with a single punch.

Crack!

The creature's skull caved in instantly. It collapsed with a squeal, and Shane casually looted the corpse.

"Whoa~ That's a lot of Fragments… Let's see what they can do."

He opened his inventory and checked the item descriptions.

[ Epic Grade Item Fragment:

A condensed shard of item essence. Collect 100 to forge a powerful Epic-grade weapon, armor, or accessory with enhanced stats and passive effects. ]

[ Legendary Grade Item Fragment:

Infused with ancient energy, 100 of these rare fragments can be synthesized into a Legendary-grade item with unique traits and game-changing abilities. ]

[ Skill Fragment:

A crystallized combat knowledge. Fuse 50 to unlock a random skill tailored to your current set of skills, ranging from tactical passives to high-impact actives. ]

Shane nodded. "So that's the conversion rate… Not bad. If I don't like the items, I can just give them away or sell them for cheap."

He then looked around.

Survivors were everywhere… They were laughing, cheering, and calling out loot drops. Even the medics had joined in, tossing healing grenades just for fun. The mechs were on low-power mode, sweeping the field with non-lethal pulses to knock pigs into looting range.

Yes, since the pilot wasn't a Foreign Survivor, they decided to let the others get the experience they needed.

Cloud updated the tactical feed.

Shane cracked his knuckles as he soon noticed that more and more Zombie Pigs were coming!

It was as if the Zombie Pigs wouldn't stop spawning until the Red Night Event ended.

As he reached this thought, he immediately announced it and had Cloud inform the other shelters!
