The world shifted and Ved found himself floating in an empty void. ( Welcome challenger to the trial of endurance no.1.
Note- Challenger can quit anytime)
A blue bar appeared above him, it reminded Ved of the health bar from video games. He didn't know what this trial of endurance was about.
He suddenly heard the voice.( Early rank 4, peak heaven grade) He didn't know what that was about either, suddenly he felt something hit him on the side.
His scales cracked and blood leaked out of the wound but the wound itself was not large and it healed almost immediately.
However Ved noticed when he got wounded, the health bar above him dropped a little then filled back up when his wound healed.
However he marvelled at the durability of his scales, this was a full powered attack from a rank 4 peak heaven grade and all it did was crack his scales.
Before he could continue rejoicing he heard the voice again. ( Early rank 4, low legendary grade) Ved almost cursed outloud.
This endurance trial really started a bit too high didn't it, now he was certain the inheritance was designed for challengers who at the very least had legendary grade bloodlines.
The attack arrived suddenly, it was invisible and impossible to dodge. His scales shattered and blood spurted out like a fountain.
His life bar dropped by a about 1 percent then in less than a second, it had filled back up, he was almost certain his regeneration trait was cheating but he was glad he had it.
The third attack was mid legendary grade, it was so powerful it cracked his bones. It took a bit longer for that wound to heal.
Then the fourth, even stronger than the third. His veins and muscles were ripped into shreds by the attack, it was still not enough.
His regeneration trait healed that would in seconds. The fifth, which was a peak legendary grade attack caused an even larger wound.
A gaping hole appeared on his side, even his ribs and lungs were exposed. It took even longer to heal the wound, his blood floated around him in the void.
However Ved marveled at how powerful his regeneration trait was, he knew it was strong before but now, he realised how strong it actually was.
It didn't just heal him, it regenerated the blood he lost, which assists his heart in regenerating his stamina even faster.
It was indirectly regenerating his stamina, since it used stamina itself to work, it had created an imperfect self sustaining system, unfortunately his hearts couldn't regenerate as much stamina as the trait used.
Then some time passed, the voice echoed through the empty void again. ( Early rank 4, low Mythical grade)
Ved braced himself, the attack arrived abruptly, his scales shattered immediately, it continued to break his bones before it stopped.
Fortunately it barely effected his organs, this was testament of Ved's durability. The wound started healing but it was slower than before.
Ved noticed it was not simply because the wound was larger, he felt as if something was actively trying to prevent his wounds from healing.
This somehow felt familiar, he tried to remember where he felt it before then it came to him. The same thing happened when he fought Vermillion.
It's no wonder he thought his regeneration was stronger when he faced the legendary grade trial, there was just nothing stopping it from working properly.
And if there was then it was most certainly not as effective as this. He sighed, it was normal that he didn't notice this when fighting Vermillion.
That guy was strong, it made sense for wounds caused by him to take longer than normal to heal, plus Ved was using only a single heart at the time.
His regeneration trait was only at a fourth of it true potential, it was easy to mistake what happened for that in that situation but now he realised, there was more to it than that.
He sighed again, this situation brought about a new problem for him. Ved doubted he will be able to heal before the next attack arrived.
Fortunately he did but he was not happy, it was too close. The next attack was certain to be stronger, healing from it will be even slower.
Hopefully the integral between the attacks will be longer as well, but he knew that was just wishful thinking.
The second attack came. He felt as if the world was collapsing around him. The attack was so powerful he coughed up blood the moment the attack touched him.
Time seemed to slow down, then his body blew up, scales and blood filled the void. A wound so huge his internals could be clearly seen through it appeared on his right side.
His wing broke and lay limply to his side, his right heart and his right lung were effected as well. A huge chunk of them was blown out too. The wound started healing, but it was even slower.
He was certain now, there was something in those attacks that prevented his wounds from healing properly and it was getting more effective as the attacks grew stronger.
The a sudden change occurred, the voice echoed a second later. Ved couldn't hold back and cursed outloud, his voice booming through the void.
The exact opposite of what he wished for happened. Instead of the integrals between the attacks increasing, they became lower instead.
The third attack arrived, it was significantly stronger than the second and the first, this was equal to a high mythical grade full powered attack.
Even though he was strong for his grade he couldn't withstand something of this level, especially not when he was already wounded.
The attack blew up his left side, this time, his lung and heart shattered completely. A huge chunk of Ved's body turned into bloody pieces that filled the empty void. Fortunately he still had two fully working hearts.
As long as one heart remains, as well as his brain, he would not die. His health bar had dropped to about 56 percent now.
What's coming next was the final attack from Mythical grade. The peak mythical grade attack.
Ved almost gave up but he was so close, he tried using his other traits to increase his defences but to his horror, he realised none of them worked.
And not just traits like web secretion. Every single trait except regeneration and iron trait did not work, only the two most passive traits were working.
Ved cursed outloud, he cursed every God he could name. The attack arrived as if the Gods were delivering divine justice for all the cursing they faced from him.
He felt the world collapse around him and his vision turned dark, for moment he saw Hades grinning at him.
