Amon ran out of the room as fast as he could. His heart was pounding so loud it almost drowned out the sound of his own footsteps.
Behind him, the door exploded into pieces.
BOOM!
Followed by a deep rumbling sound as the walls cracked and dust filled the air.
The massive wyvern forced its way through the hallway. Its size was far bigger than a normal house.
Broken stones and debris fell everywhere as it roared, shaking the entire mansion.
Amon held his sword tightly, his breathing rough.
Two of those skinny, black monsters jumped out in front of him, growling with sharp claws ready to strike. Without wasting time, Amon slashed his sword in a fast motion.
slash! slash!
Both creatures fell, cut cleanly.
More of the monsters appeared, but seeing the wyvern behind Amon, they screeched in fear and ran back into the shadows.
The wyvern's roar echoed again. Loud and terrifying. Its mouth opened wide, revealing rows of sharp teeth. A hot gust of air rushed out of its throat, carrying the smell of ash and blood.
Amon ran as fast as he could through the corridor while the wyvern smashed through the walls behind him, breaking everything in its path.
Pieces of ceiling and stone crashed down as the beast chased him, roaring again and again, its glowing eyes locked on him in the darkness.
"Shit! Shit! Dammit!" Amon cursed inside.
He ran with all his might. The walls behind him broke. The ceiling fell.
He came to the main hall, running towards the main door.
But the wyvern this time roared too hard, too loud.
The air that rushed out of its mouth was more wild.
It pushed Amon flying.
"Fuck!" His body crashed against the door.
Thud!
The old, weak door broke. As it fell, Amon fell with it on the other side.
"Aaarghhh!" Amon groaned painfully.
Pain shot through his body. Slamming against the door was more painful than he had thought.
"Did my ribs break again?" he muttered to himself with a painful voice. But he didn't have time for it.
He gritted his teeth, clenching them against each other. He pushed himself up, despite the ache in his body.
"Roaaaarrr!" The monster destroyed the front wall of the mansion.
Its huge claw attacked Amon. Its sharp, dark claw shone, ready to tear apart the tiny human who had woken it up from its sleep. Even though it wasn't Amon.
Amon pushed his legs back, throwing his body backward.
Thuddd!
A loud sound of something shattering the ground resounded in the silent night.
Debris flew in every direction. Dust spread in the air.
A huge spiderweb crack formed on the stone street. It was all because of one single attack of the wyvern.
Amon didn't try to fight it. He was already on the run. He put mana inside his legs and jumped over the boundary wall of the mansion.
Thud!
His feet landed on the street.
He didn't stop there. He ran. Faster. More desperate.
The skinny monsters were already waiting for him there.
"Shit! Why?" He was really annoyed.
He summoned the hatchet, holding it in his left hand.
The blade immediately covered by dark shadow. His hand moved in blinding speed with all his might.
Swish!
Spin!
The hatchet formed a dark trajectory in the night's darkness.
He controlled the shadow on the hatchet.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
The hatchet slashed three skinny creatures one after another.
Then the hatchet flew back in his hand again.
"Rooaaaaarr!"
Meanwhile, the wyvern rose into the air, flying above the dark city. It roared loudly.
Its dark green eyes locked onto Amon. It flipped its wings and started to rush in Amon's direction.
"Fuckkk! Why is this thing focused on me?" Amon complained loudly.
It was fortunate that the wyvern didn't throw fire or mana beams through its mouth like a true dragon.
Amon kept running through the darkened streets. His heart raced wildly in his chest. His boots pounded against the broken streets. Every breath burned in his lungs.
Behind him, the wyvern's enormous wings flapped once and the sound alone felt like thunder. A strong gust of wind followed, sending dust, loose rocks, and broken wood flying through the air.
It broke the buildings and houses. It swooped down, shattering the ground where Amon had been just a single heartbeat ago.
Every time it attacked, Amon slipped away barely.
Still, some of the debris and stones that flew in the air from its attacks hit Amon.
There were small wounds formed over his body.
His shadow spread under his feet, helping him move faster.
He dashed into a narrow alley between two ruined buildings. The wyvern screeched and tried to follow, but its wings slammed into the sides of the buildings, breaking them apart.
Chunks of stone fell around Amon as he ran through the collapsing alley. One piece of debris grazed his back, tearing his clothes and cutting his skin.
He stumbled out into an open area, a wide plaza with a broken fountain in the center. The moment he entered, the wyvern dropped from above, landing hard.
BOOM!
The ground cracked. Dust filled the air.
"Come on then, big guy… you won't eat me that easily," Amon muttered under his breath, though his voice shook.
The wyvern opened its mouth and instead of fire, a strong shockwave of air blasted out.
Amon crossed his arms in front of his face as the wind hit him. The force sent him flying again, smashing him into a half-broken statue. The stone shattered on impact.
He coughed, tasting blood. His left arm went numb.
He groaned, forcing himself up with his sword as support. His vision blurred. "Not… yet…" he muttered, spitting out blood.
The wyvern stepped closer, shaking the ground. Its tail smashed the ground where Amon was lying just some moments ago, leaving a deep crack.
He looked at the buildings nearby. One still half-standing. The structure looked unstable, its upper part cracked and hanging.
'That might work…'
He dashed toward it. The wyvern followed, roaring again. Just as it was about to reach him, Amon swung his sword at the building's base, cutting through the weakened pillars.
Crack… crack…
CRASH!
The entire wall collapsed on top of the wyvern's head, covering it in rubble and dust.
Amon fell to his knees, panting heavily. His body ached all over. His shoulder was bleeding badly, and his breathing was uneven.
