After being humiliated by my own choices, I managed to register Syl'Vyr as a member of my party. Incredibly, Syl'Vyr didn't mind when I explained what a "party mascot" was; she just accepted that she was registered as one.
She even teased me, saying that if I needed 'visible proof' she could provide it, and after that, we left the guild. I came straight to the bank to create my card since it will be a necessity.
Without it, I can't make large purchases without carrying a ton of coins with me, so the sooner I have it, the better.
'It's so big...' I see the enormous building that is the bank. It's a giant structure that resembles a mansion, but it's white with a black roof and incredibly detailed pillars, surrounded by a beautiful green lawn.
I walk inside this place and see several people talking with various tellers. There are some lines and several other areas, but I ignore the regular lines and head to the separate area for nobles.
I see the line for nobles, but I walk a bit further ahead. I know the game, and I know the bank has a queuing system based on nobility rank.
In other words, I don't need to wait in any line because I'm the Demon King's daughter. And even though they humiliate me and treat me like a failure, I still hold the title of someone from the important nobility.
And they have to follow the rules. Making an exception and discriminating against me sets a precedent that they don't follow rules unless they want to, which is bad for business, so they will generally treat me as a high-ranking noble.
"..." Soon, I arrive at the area where I'm supposed to be. There's no one there, so I just open the door and enter, seeing the person who will help me create my bank account.
"Hello." I give a greeting, seeing that the person at the desk is a girl. They like to use girls as receptionists because they're pretty and pleasant to observe and talk to.
"Hello, I am Ikatsu Rykari, the bank manager. And you are Evelyn Ashcroft, correct?" she says quickly, and I nod, taking in her appearance.
A girl with red eyes and long blonde hair, with medium-sized breasts and an elegant posture. She has a kind yet sharp look while maintaining a calm posture. Her skin is slightly reddish, not too far from pale, but with a clear, light shade of red, and she has a pair of small horns.
'The bank manager herself... great.' I sit down in the chair in front of her desk, sure that we can speed this up. Because of the bank's rules, Syl'Vyr and Eve stayed outside the room, so it's just the two of us.
"I want to open a bank account and get a card for buying things. I'll use my guild registration and guild card as a basis to skip any need to involve permission from my family." I don't want to wait for my father's approval.
If I don't use any "source," they will need approval from my family, which in this case is the Demon King. But by using the guild, I have the "source" they need, allowing me to skip tedious processes.
"Of course... we can do that briefly. I was also the one who created the cards for your other sisters. I wondered when you would appear." She speaks without paying attention to the failure stigma that surrounds me.
"Would you like some coffee?" She offers coffee with a kind smile on her face, which surprises me, mainly because quality coffee is something very expensive.
"I don't really like coffee, I prefer sweet things..." I say, declining the coffee.
"Are you surprised by the treatment? I'm a businesswoman. It doesn't matter who you are, your past, or the rumors that surround you. As long as you generate revenue and don't break rules or commit crimes that tarnish our image, I really won't comment or complain about anything." She speaks without looking at me while writing something on a piece of paper.
'She's actually nice... it's pleasantly cool in here...' It's comfortable, and since she isn't looking at me judgmentally, I sit still, waiting for her to do her part, preparing myself for any questions.

...
...
"Here, Esther-sama, this is the most recent report..." Elizabeth says, handing me some papers. I take a look at them and then look at Elizabeth.
"Why are you still here?" I ask, seeing that she hasn't left yet. Normally, she just delivers the reports and leaves immediately so as not to lose track of Evelyn.
"Evelyn is at the bank. I can't spy on her inside there; I'll be discovered, and I don't want legal problems with the bank. You know their father is quite strict with rules, right? If I'm caught spying on the bank and they judge it as economic espionage, I'll be executed." She says something logical.
"Fine, then..."
"Esther-sama... did you know that girl is gaining a rather bad reputation?" she says, getting my attention.
"What kind of reputation?" I ask what sort of "reputation" Evelyn is gaining.
"W-Well... it's not that I omitted this from the reports, I just didn't know about it before since it's a guild registry, but Evelyn is registering the members of her party as [Party Mascots]... and I know you know what that is."
"...So she's gaining a very negative reputation among some adventurers who have heard about it, you know? Like... she's a noble... walking around with two girls who are pets... Of course, up until now, Evelyn has never done anything sexual with anyone."
"She doesn't even touch herself sexually, at most she kisses her reflection in the mirror, but the bad reputation still exists." She says while I think about this.
"It's not real, right?" I ask, thinking deeply about what to feel about this and wondering what Evelyn feels about this bad reputation.
"No, she doesn't do anything. It seems she just does it to avoid paying full fees." As soon as she says that, I approve of such an attitude.
'It's just the smart thing to do.' I don't care about false rumors, and she shouldn't care about what others think of her either. Now, if it weren't false, I would be irritated.
After all, I wouldn't accept someone sullying the only person who is like me, but as a strategic act, I accept it.
'She really knows how to use the system against the system.' It's just logical. The guild charges for useful classes while leaving this useless class practically 100% free since it adds almost nothing to the team.
'But... even so... I don't like this... even if I don't care...' I still think Evelyn might care about it.
"Make sure whoever is spreading the rumors has a... terrible night." I tell Elizabeth, not entirely sure why I'm helping Evelyn.
'I feel stranger every day...' Each day I have more of these strange thoughts. Why should it matter if Evelyn suffers from rumors? Why did I decide to help with this?
"Elizabeth, before you go check on Evelyn, I'd like you to call some of the other servants. I need them to start investigating that human, Grace D'Aragon. She is... strange." This human keeps trying to make contact with each of the candidates for the throne.
And somehow she always succeeds. And as idiotic as it seems, her reactions and way of acting change with every interaction, as if she's weighing what we like and dislike before acting in a way that pleases us.
'So... boring...' Someone who changes out of nowhere just to suit the desires of others, whom she doesn't even know well, is so... ridiculous and pathetic. Honestly, it's so disgusting to watch.
'It's like a girl desperate for attention.' In that regard, even Evelyn is better than her, because when Evelyn was rejected, she didn't keep insisting on trying to be friends, and after a while, she learned to take care of herself instead of changing for others who don't care about her.
"You seem irritated." Elizabeth says, and I agree.
"Yes, I am. That irritating human keeps trying to talk whenever she sees me, and every interaction with her is different."
"Ah... yes... you hate changes, so seeing her change must be frustrating and unpleasant." Elizabeth hits the mark precisely. I hate this back-and-forth swapping she does.
I hate people who change their personality based on who is around them, and I have reasons for that. This world is false to me, and precisely because of that, I know that if someone changes in that way, it's just a "mask" that adds even more falsity to them.
"Esther-sama, I don't know why you hate people and their changes so much... By the way, isn't Evelyn literally a symbol of change? She's quite different from the past, isn't she?" Elizabeth oversteps her bounds by talking nonsense.
"No! She is... different... her change is 'Real.' It's not like the 'Fake' change of others. You wouldn't understand." I've tried talking about the falsity of this world with others, but no one understands.
Whether I speak indirectly or directly, it's as if their minds are incapable of conceiving the idea that this world is just entertainment for greater beings.
I've never understood that, and I don't want to understand since they will never understand me even if I throw my knowledge in their faces.
"Of course, I cannot understand your genius mind..." She says, heading for the door.
"Well, I guess it's time for me to leave. I'll tell them to come here as soon as possible."
"Perfect." I just nod in agreement, standing up to look out the window. I see Marie and Grace down below. Marie is irritated, and Grace is following her and talking too much.
'Is she really going to keep doing this with all the candidates for the throne?' It's strange because there isn't exactly malice in it. It's just an irritating insistence on attempts at friendship.
And since there's no malice, as irritating as it is, I end up deciding to let it pass, but not before getting 'revenge' for her irritating me. I use my skill and watch.
"..." A few seconds later, Grace trips over a brick on the ground that was slightly higher than the others. I see her falling into the fountain, getting soaked, while Marie looks at her, points, and starts laughing hysterically.
'Better this way.'
