Super Soldier in Campus

Chapter 298: Derelict Bodyguard_1

"Aoxue, didn't you say you were coming tonight? How is it that you arrived at noon? We just finished lunch, um..." Su Zi looked at Ning Aoxue, her pretty face flushing slightly—a rare sight that betrayed her embarrassment.

Ning Aoxue dragged a heavy suitcase into the villa, only to be stunned by the scene before her. Firstly, she was half-starved and seeing everyone looking satisfied after their meal filled her with envy and resentment. Secondly, the sight of the extraordinarily beautiful Cao Ying, radiating an exceptional aura, sitting next to Lin Feng, made her feel even more aggrieved.

What kind of bodyguard lives such a carefree life? An absurdly high monthly salary, living and eating with two beautiful women, and even bringing his girlfriend to the villa for a vacation?!

Ning Aoxue wasn't as gossipy as Su Zi and didn't know Cao Ying. However, she could sense there was something between Cao Ying and Lin Feng. The way they looked at each other was too… in sync.

"A'zi, who is this?" Ning Aoxue seemed to have forgotten her rumbling stomach and didn't answer Su Zi's question. Instead, she stared at Cao Ying for several seconds before turning her head to whisper to Su Zi.

"This is Miss Cao Ying, our former substitute teacher from Jiangzhou No. 1 Middle School, and now she's a graduate student and our senior at the Foreign Language Institute." Su Zi, reading Ning Aoxue's expression, knew this wasn't good. It's often said that like repels like; beautiful women tend to feel an inexplicable hostility towards each other upon their first meeting. Of course, a foodie like me, who can be won over with a single meal, is a rare exception.

Su Zi quickly introduced Cao Ying, hoping this connection would lessen Ning Aoxue's initial negative impression.

"Teacher Cao Ying? A senior?" Indeed, Ning Aoxue, who had always been a good student, visibly relaxed after learning Cao Ying was a former substitute teacher.

Su Zi then explained how Lin Feng had bravely rescued Cao Ying the previous day, gotten injured in the process, and how Cao Ying had come over to prepare medicine for him.

To make the story more vivid, Su Zi embellished it with many "eyewitness" details: Lin Feng single-handedly fought hundreds of thugs, carved a bloody path through them, and ultimately rescued Cao Ying from peril. Now, he was suffering from severe internal injuries and a great loss of Vitality, all because of saving Cao Ying.

If Lin Feng hadn't been sitting right there, Ning Aoxue might have believed from Su Zi's description alone that he had made a heroic sacrifice.

Su Zi's explanation seemed to work, and Ning Aoxue reluctantly accepted that Cao Ying had a legitimate reason to be there.

However, accepting Cao Ying's reason for being there didn't mean Ning Aoxue accepted Cao Ying herself.

Initially, I thought that if Lin Feng had a "suspected girlfriend," he might behave himself more in the future, and I wouldn't have to worry about him harassing me unexpectedly. I should feel relieved… But why do I feel a faint sense of loss instead? And why this strong sense of vigilance towards Cao Ying, as if she's trying to steal something precious from me…

Cao Ying also sensed Ning Aoxue's hidden hostility. So, instead of speaking a direct greeting, she simply smiled and nodded at Ning Aoxue, her demeanor natural and graceful.

Ning Aoxue, however, was irritated by Cao Ying's composed and confident demeanor. This is my home! How dare she act so nonchalant when I, the owner, return?

Outwardly, to maintain politeness, Ning Aoxue also nodded back at Cao Ying. However, her Kungfu in controlling her facial expressions was a little lacking, and she couldn't bring herself to smile at her.

"I'm going to my room..." Ning Aoxue, who had just been complaining about hunger, suddenly felt her stomach churn with acidity. She felt weak and had no appetite.

Lin Feng, who had been observing from the dining table, was completely puzzled by Ning Aoxue and Cao Ying's behavior. These two seem naturally wary of each other, as if they're predestined rivals. Isn't this their first meeting? Why can't they even manage a polite word?

In such situations, however, Lin Feng preferred not to get involved and just wanted to stay out of it.

Su Zi knew Ning Aoxue was in a bad mood; her stubborn silence as she dragged the heavy suitcase upstairs was proof enough. Glancing at Lin Feng, who remained seated, Su Zi couldn't help but feel exasperated. Some bodyguard you are, so "dutiful"! You see your employer struggling like that and don't even offer to help!

Catching Su Zi's pointed glances, Lin Feng finally clued in. He looked over at Ning Aoxue, who was bent over, laboriously dragging the large suitcase upwards. Her tall figure was slightly damp with perspiration, and with each shallow, weary breath, the alluring curves of her body were accentuated—a sight that would make any man's heart skip a beat. She was undoubtedly a top-tier beauty, the kind men dreamed of conquering.

It's quite a sight, but to let a woman struggle so helplessly in front of me… as a man, it's a bit embarrassing. Besides, she's technically my boss…

"Aoxue, let me take that," Lin Feng said calmly, walking up to Ning Aoxue and effortlessly lifting the large suitcase.

Cao Ying observed Lin Feng's actions with an enigmatic smile and a slight nod, evidently quite satisfied with his conduct.

"No need, thank you!" Ning Aoxue shot Lin Feng a dissatisfied glance from her beautiful eyes. "And please don't call me Aoxue," she added stubbornly. "We're not that close!"

What's gotten into her now? Lin Feng was completely baffled by Ning Aoxue's complex mood. He only felt her tone had suddenly become exceptionally sharp.

Without arguing, Lin Feng carried Ning Aoxue's suitcase straight into her room. Ning Aoxue tried to snatch it back three or four times on the way but failed.

"This suitcase is really heavy. What on earth did you pack in here?" It must be at least seventy or eighty pounds, Lin Feng estimated. My back is still aching a bit; this was quite a strain. If she'd tried to bring it up herself, she probably would have pulled a ligament! Well, now that I've helped her, a little chat to ease the tension wouldn't hurt.

"None of your business! I told you, you're not allowed on the second floor. Go chat with your precious 'senior sister'!" Ning Aoxue pointed a slender finger towards the door, her expression growing even colder.

Lin Feng finally understood the source of the problem. This girl… she seems… jealous?

No way! The Ice Queen, Ning Aoxue, jealous?

Recalling Su Zi's hints, Lin Feng had an epiphany. His gaze suddenly grew intense as he looked at Ning Aoxue with a grin. "Are you jealous? Wait, don't tell me you… like me?"

The moment Lin Feng spoke, Ning Aoxue's pretty face flushed crimson, then turned deathly pale. Whether from anger or shock, she used all her strength to shove him out the door. "What utter nonsense are you spouting! I'd fall for a pig before I'd ever like you! Get out of my room!"

THUD!

The door slammed shut. Lin Feng stood outside, utterly perplexed. Even if a deal falls through, goodwill should remain. Why turn so hostile?
