BEYOND THE BLAZE

Chapter 68: The Rewards

The princess' eyes widened, her mind racing with her heart pounding fast as she saw Akirion's handsome face. 'Wow! He's so handsome, I can't look away from him!' The princess thought, her eyes stuck on Akirion.

Elina observed the Princess closely. She saw that she was admiring Akirion silently. Elina's heart hardly pounded , jealous swimming in her blood, her eyes burning with rage as she realized that the princess can be interested in Akirion. 'What is she staring at?' Elina thought, her two eyes fueled with rage, her face helping the eyes as it turned reddish in anger.

Her mind changed its running pace, brainstorming a way to get rid of the princess's dreamworld. Her mind came up with two ways, either she'd take Akirion away or find a suitable way to talk to the princess and all those will get her back to normal and stop thinking about Akirion.

Her anger increased as the princess continued grinning while her eyes softly stuck on Akirion's face. The princess's eyes were hinting admiration in secret since she was quiet. Elina's anger rose up like fire poured with fuel.

Her breathing turned into a growl. At first it was far away, nobody was hearing her but constantly, the growling rose up. Erlin who was next to Elina started to hear Elina's voice roaring as she breathed. Erlin held her sister's hand to calm her down and luckily, her mission was a success.

Her mission was left unaccomplished, so she was yet to accomplish it. She slowly took a deep breath, cooling down her angry red face.

She thought of completing one of her missions since she already scripted them down.

"Hey Akie, you look tired, let's go inside and have a sit." Elina said, her eyes narrowed with a slight sneer on her face as she held Akirion's hand.

"Oh, good idea, I'm really tired, and I can't feel my legs." said Akirion as he slowly sighed in relief, his eyes gentle blinking.

Akirion turned around to go with Elina. Before he took his first step after he turned around, the prince's voice echoed as he stopped Akirion from going.

"Wait a second, we aren't done with the rewarding, so you'll have to wait a moment." the Prince said, with his eyes gentle closed, with a bit of a smile on his face.

Akirion gasped, surprise and fear slicing through his body like lightning. He slowly and shakily looked at the Prince.

"Ahh, ain't I allowed to sit down?" Akirion asked, his voice crackling as if he was crying.

"No! If you sit down you will get attacked by your sleepiness." the Prince replied, his hands folded, his eyes shut with a bit of a smile on his face.

*Sighed*. "Haaa, understood!" Akirion replied after a deep exhale. 'The worst part is, he's the one who pushed me to the brink of collapsing from exhaustion.' he continued, his eyes closed, trying to hold himself up from breaking.

"I'll have to introduce you to the sword. This sword is a legendary sword, it was forged by the blacksmiths a long time ago. It was specifically forged for a certain person, the hero." Akirion widened his eyes, astonishment flowing through his body.

'Hero? Then why are they giving it to me?' The question filled his mind, his heart racing as it fastly beat.

The prince continued, "You have proved to be one, so you will have to wisely use it, just like the owner who saved the world with this sword."

"So be careful on what you do with it and, keep it safe. I'm leaving it in your hands." The Prince said, seriousness piercing his face.

Akirion gasped but the crowd cheered for him, giving him a title of a hero. Thaneiros who was in the middle of the crowd stood up happily, clapping his hands as he held his head high, proud foster child.

The thunderous noise erupted, claps and cheerings roaring throughout the arena. Everyone recognized him as a school hero, since he received a title of a hero.

"You can now go where ever you wanted to go, I'll be calling the second winner now." The Prince released him from standing like a bodyguard.

Cheers continued, the whole arena roaring, watching Akirion turn his back from the stage, going out. Suddenly, the professor woke up from his day dream.

"Hey Akirion, your reward! " the professor said, showing Akirion the sword.

"Would you mind keeping it with you for now? I'll get it later when I'm going home!" Akirion shouted to get the professor to understand what he was saying since the whole place was full of cheers and thunderous applause.

"Welcome Lucas, hour second winner." the announcer's voice boomed off the megaphone as he announced the second winner Lucas. His voice was louder than the thunderous noise that was whirling around the arena.

Lucas appeared, standing on his own. Gasps erupted throughout the arena. Lucas was back to normal, his feet stepping on their own, his hands swinging as he got happy for the second place, but his mind was thinking otherwise. He also wanted to be receive a hero title but the unpredictable future came with it's own outcome.

The Prince grinned as he showed happiness to Lucas, his teeth were shining outside. Lucas stepped on the stage and greeted the Prince. The princess was nowhere to be found only an empty space, where she was standing.

"Welcome Lucas!" The prince said, putting his right hand on Lucas's left shoulder. He continued saying, "That was a nice game we saw, keep working hard because I guess magic powers would be our next way to protect our lands, so buckle up, train hard, and we will be routing for you!"

A smile appeared in Lucas's face, he ingested all the words and felt relieved.

"Thank you, your Highness." Lucas said, his head bowed down his hands on his sides.

Cheers erupted, whistles, screams and applause mixed up to create noise that filled the whole arena like smoke.

"Today you'll receive a side kick reward!" Lucas's face changed, his smile slowly faded. But suddenly, the prince continued, "Guess what, you'll receive one of the hero's weapons too." Lucas's face returned to happiness, his eyes widened, his whole face flooded with mischief, waiting to hear what he was going to get from the hero's gear.

The prince snapped his finger and one of his servants came carrying a tray, covered by a golden cloth that was hiding the reward.

The Prince took the tray and uncovered it. Suddenly, Lucas's eyes widened more, his mouth open wider as he exclaimed, his face filled with excitement.

"This, is the hero's dagger, one of the best weapons he used. It was a side kick of his real sword. So today just like I said, you'll receive a title of the hero's sidekick, so, work hard, maybe you'll turn into a hero one day!" the Prince said, his eyes gentle narrowed as a smile was formed right under his nose, causing his ears to be up when he was talking. His words were polished and energizing, motivating Lucas to work hard in his upcoming future.

But, Lucas was lost in admiring the golden handled dagger, his hands were craving to touch it, but it was still in the tray. His mouth was drooling, hungry to get the dagger.

'Wow, it's super cool, I want to touch it, I want to touch it!' his inner voice changed every second as he repeated the same line, his whole body craving to touch the reward.

'I want to touch it!' his inner voice was hard, his outer body was getting pale every second, hunger and starvation for touching the dagger getting his face to desperate mode. His eyes widened, and his brows furrowed, waiting for the right moment that made him lose his patience.

"I'm sure you can't wait to touch this one! Hihi, I would be too, I'm telling you. So I hear by, grant you access to this treasure, the dagger, the side kick of the hero's sword." the Prince said, getting the crowd to erupt in cheers. Whistles and cheers boomed through out the arena, everyone was happy for his reward.

The dagger was handed over to him. Silence wiped over him, all the noise that was made by the crowd wasn't heard by his two ears, but the crowd was jumping around with happiness as they continued cheering.

Lucas was attacked by a vision too. He saw the hero carrying the dagger, ready to attack. The vision was super short and it didn't show many things, only the guy who was wearing blue and black clothes. His clothes were torn and he was carrying the dagger, with his sword in a scabbard. The darkness lurking around like an evil eye.

Lucas open his eyes wider, mischief flowed in his body.

'Wow, I'm carrying one of the hero's gear. It's like a dream come true, yes, I did it!' Lucas silently said, a gentle smile shining in his face.
