Monster Gacha System: Becoming The Final Boss

Chapter 101 | His Beautiful Partner Hecate

"H-Hecate?" Damien was unfounded, his eyes examining the crimson-haired vampire from top to bottom. To think that she'd transform so much in mere hours.

Hecate tilted her head, confused about the peculiar reaction of her partner. On the other hand, Krieger narrowed her gaze, connecting the puzzles inside her head.

"I was as surprised as you when those horns and tail appeared from her body out of nowhere." She remarked as she dried her dripping hair.

"I already checked whether or not these two features affected her health or body in some way. Luckily for you, it does not."

"Instead, the horns and tail seemed to have magnified her aetheric signature. An augmentation of quality and quantity."

The doctor expounded as she sauntered towards her bedroom, leaving the two partners behind. Damien looked at the crimson-haired demon vampire and muttered.

"So, you got stronger, huh?" There was relief in his voice, as it was a gamble they had taken when she accepted the other half of her bloodline.

"Yeah, but I don't feel that much different than before." Hecate nodded, stretching her fingers and smiling. "I haven't tested my strength yet."

"Wouldn't want the doctor to throw me out of the penthouse."

"In any case, what do you think?" She tilted her head, displaying the pair of sleek demonic horns. Her tail danced behind her, swaying in a hypnotic motion.

Damien raised his fingers into a thumbs-up, expression indifferent as before. The words that escaped him made her slightly chuckle.

"Good job..."

"What does that even mean?" she asked while shaking her head. Looking out into the window, the crimson-haired vampire recalled the plan her partner had in mind.

Glancing at him, she inquired. "Since you already returned, the plan should be complete. The tribunal didn't end well for the Federation."

Damien sat on the comfy couch and rested his neck as he stared at the ceiling. "Well, Miss Alastair was already out when I got there."

"It looks like she reigned in the Paragons in the tribunal. Besides, it's not like there's anything those politicians could do against the strongest of humanity."

"Since the boss was out of the prison without needing my assistance, I decided to bring the fifth Paragon back and repay the favor to those intelligence operatives in Block 5."

"The fifth Paragon, huh? The SIGIL Intelligence Director, Jane Doe. What is she like?" Hecate pondered, curious about the Paragons of humanity.

Even in the Clan, they were considered the greatest adversaries of the vampire. Especially the strongest, called the White Devil.

"Wierdos... All of them are pretty strange. I'd rather avoid the Intelligence Headquarters from now on." Damien shook his head, feeling chills when he tried to recall what he had seen.

"Must be interesting people then. To think that they could provoke such a reaction from you. Makes me even more interested." Hecate grinned while the black-suited young man glared at her.

"I have a feeling that you're enjoying my revulsion a bit too much." Damien saw her grin widen as her fangs unveiled themselves for a moment.

"When did my partner also become a wierdo?" He shook his head, staring at the ceiling as though the world had betrayed him.

Hecate chuckled at the sight while Krieger entered the living room, wearing her usual attire. "It seems that the tribunal ended well."

"So, did Miss Alastair catch the infiltrators in the Federation?" she questioned, since all the troubles in the world appeared to be originating from those bastards.

"Unfortunately, we couldn't take out the infiltrators. Even during the tribunal, none of them appeared." Damien sighed and relaxed.

"Only some random politicians on the West Coast were backing the Block 4. Truly a waste of time." The image of the hostile fourth Paragon flashed in his mind.

"Someone actually got punished, hm? No wonder that bastard wasn't in a good mood. He must have been humiliated." Damien shook his head, finding that it wasn't his business.

"She mustn't have been in a good mood, then." Krieger smiled, earning the nod of the black-suited young man. "She looked like a mother who just snapped at her children."

The doctor chuckled at the comparison, recognizing that no matter how much time passed and the changes people faced, some things would always remain the same.

"Regardless, it was good that the tribunal didn't escalate and create a rift between SIGIL and the Federation." The doctor remarked and added.

"It isn't the best of moments to be squabbling with one another."

"I agree... At any rate, I just saw Washington a moment ago. What happened to the remnants of the old countries?" Damien asked, curious about the history after Heaven's Fall.

There was some fragment of information on the Federal Web, but he found the need to ask those with first-hand experiences.

Krieger raised her eyebrows and placed her finger below her pale chin. "Hmm... I recall that the Clan practically eliminated all of the old world remnants."

"To be honest, those bastards went as far as burning every figment of the old countries. Not even a flag or a book about them was left behind."

"It was the greatest erasure of human knowledge. The Clan wanted us to be nothing more than feeble sheep. Akin to livestock."

"Fortunately, Heaven's Fall blessed us with the metahumans. Otherwise, humanity wouldn't have stood a chance against a species much superior to them."

"I see... The remnants were erased." Damien closed his eyelids, remembering the Old World. A peaceful modern world.

Amongst the surfacing memories was a beautiful girl, someone whose name he couldn't speak without ushering a piercing headache.

If there was a mystery greater than Heaven's Fall, it would be her. Of all the things before, why would it be her who causes him pain the most?

What truly occurred when that black tower descended from the skies and landed in the Bronx? Shaking his head, Damien decided to handle it in the future.

After all, he needed to accomplish the task given to him by his boss.

"In any rate, are you good to go, Hecate?" he inquired as he needed to return to the West Coast as fast as possible.

The crimson-haired vampire stretched her arms, legs, and body, nodding towards her partner. "Everything feels alright. I'm good to go."

Damien nodded in satisfaction and expounded. "Miss Alastair wants us to find the infiltrators. Our area of operation will be the entirety of the West Coast."

"I have a feeling that most of them would be entrenched in this part of the New World."

"Infiltrator hunting, huh? Reminds me of the Clan." Hecate's crimson lips curved into a subtle smile. "I guess there's a first time for everything."

"I'll follow your lead, Damien."

On the other hand, Krieger took out a duffel bag and threw it towards the vampire. "It has everything you need. Don't get sick again, Hecate."

"Otherwise, I'll let everyone know about the vampire who got sick."

Damien chuckled while Hecate placed a hand over her hips and shrugged. "As I said before, there's a first time for everything."

"At any rate, thanks for your help, Doctor Krieger. This will be a favor that both of us won't forget." He lightly bowed towards the beautiful lady.

The black-suited young man was grateful, especially when the doctor's treatment made the evolution of his partner far safer than it would be.

At least, they didn't have to rely on luck and circumstance.

"No need to bow. It's my job, after all." Krieger smiled at the two Jaegers before her, reminding the doctor of the past when times were simple.

Damien and Hecate waved their hands as they teleported out of the penthouse. Silence pervaded the living room as the doctor stretched her arms upward. "What a day."

On the rooftop of a towering building in New York, Hecate glanced at her partner and commented. "You have gotten much stronger, Damien."

The black-suited young man grinned as a status display hovered beside his perception.
