With Lin Tian's reminder, Xiao Manxue came to her senses. Yes, why is this Sword Spirit so good at using idioms?
The Sword Spirit flew above Lin Tian, seemingly to appear more superior. It said proudly, "I learned them from your brain. Also, I can clearly feel that when you look at this beauty, the thoughts that pop into your mind are 'sinking fish and falling geese,' 'closed moon and shameful flowers.' Since you think this way, I shouldn't be wrong, right?"
Lin Tian and Xiao Manxue were both stunned. Xiao Manxue's cheeks flushed again, her gaze towards Lin Tian seemed to shimmer with emotion.
Honestly, whenever Lin Tian sees Miss, he does have such thoughts because the little girl's beauty is plain to see. As a man, it's impossible not to feel something.
However, having his thoughts suddenly voiced by this blunt Sword Spirit is quite embarrassing. Thankfully, Lin Tian had a thick skin and quickly recovered: "Haha, Little Ya, you didn't misuse the idioms; our Miss is naturally beautiful."
Xiao Manxue shot Lin Tian a charming glare and said coquettishly, "You're awful, I'm not talking to you." With that, she turned and jumped out of the window, somewhat fleeing.
"Gosh, what are you afraid of? I'm not going to eat you." Watching Miss quickly disappear, Lin Tian felt speechless.
"Sigh, I really don't understand you Eastern people. Being complimented should warrant a thank you; why feel embarrassed?" the Sword Spirit remarked seriously.
"You know nothing. This is called subtle beauty." Lin Tian said disdainfully.
"Your words are so crude; the word 'gentleman' is unrelated to you." The Sword Spirit retorted with contempt.
Lin Tian glared and said, "You have the nerve to mention being a gentleman? Do gentlemen randomly snoop into my thoughts?"
"Uh, that was totally unintentional. Actually, you don't need to worry. I can only read very superficial things; your core spirit is protected, and without your authorization, I can't sense it," the Sword Spirit said a bit embarrassed.
What Lin Tian was worried about was this; he had too many secrets that couldn't be known by this Sword Spirit. This little thing wasn't loyal at all, so it might run away one day. However, now knowing it can only read superficial thoughts, he felt completely relieved.
"End the patrol and come back quickly. I want to sleep." Lin Tian said ungraciously.
"I've been locked up for most of the day, and you only let me out for a few minutes. How heartless!" the Sword Spirit protested strongly.
Lin Tian didn't bother wasting words. He suddenly lunged, grabbed the Sword Spirit, and then stuffed it into his mouth, swallowing it into his stomach. The Sword Spirit burst into a fit of anger, incessantly cursing Lin Tian for being heartless.
"I need to sleep now. Keep making noise and I'll roast you with the power of fire." Lin Tian lay on the bed, annoyed. This little thing's noise never seemed to end.
"Fine, as the Sword of the King, I won't stoop to your level." The Sword Spirit said defiantly, but much quieter. It still remembered the shadow left by the last time it got burned by the fire power.
Without the Sword Spirit's racket, the world was quiet. When the first ray of morning sunlight entered the room, Lin Tian got up on time to train. For once, the Sword Spirit didn't chatter away, perhaps sleeping in.
Absorbing the essence of the sun is a daily must for his training. Mid-training, noise from outside interrupted him. Opening the door, he saw an unfamiliar girl who seemed to be a mixed race; black hair, black eyes, yet her features had a Western woman's distinctiveness.
A rather pretty girl, albeit with crutches. Lin Tian curiously asked, "Who are you?"
"You're Lin Tian, right? I'm Zhu Li. You forgot? You're the one who healed me." The girl smiled.
"Oh, I remember now. You're Manxue's dorm mate. Didn't expect you'd recover so quickly," Lin Tian said in surprise. This Zhu Li was indeed the injured girl he saw bedridden on that day.
Lin Tian invited her into the living room. After sitting down, Zhu Li said, "Thanks to your help, I recovered quickly. I found out from my senior that you're living here, so I came specially to thank you. I'm really grateful."
"As Manxue's friend, I couldn't ignore you. Oh, why are you alone? Where's Manxue?" Lin Tian asked.
"The senior is looking for the mentor. Besides thanks, I came to tell you something. During this mission, I'm joining you guys," Zhu Li said seriously.
"Joining us?" Lin Tian was startled. Does she have to be so determined? Even with injuries, she's joining the mission.
Zhu Li noticed Lin Tian's thoughts and said, "Senior is leading the team to the exact place where I got hurt last time. It's a secluded town far from Holy Spirit Town. I've been there once, so I'm rather familiar with it."
"But what about your injury?" Lin Tian pointed at her crutches, asking.
Zhu Li laughed openly and said, "No problem, I'll discard them in a couple of days. As a student of the Royal Women's College, how can I be so delicate? Actually, I never blamed the Frostwind Team because the last mission was done voluntarily. Having chosen this field, I never expected to always come away unscathed."
"Impressive." Lin Tian gave a thumbs-up. Such a woman naturally exuded heroic spirit. Then he asked, "I'm curious, what kind of town is it? What sort of attack did you face there?"
Zhu Li recollected for a moment and frowned slightly, "The town is quite remote and similar to Holy Spirit Town, with no direct public transit; regular cars can't navigate those roads, but off-road vehicles can."
Calling it remote because of its location, it's actually more modernized than Holy Spirit Town. It has all the amenities a usual town has. Frostwind Team chose to go there due to reports of deaths from animal attacks.
"People generally assume from the deceased's images that a wild beast attacked, but experienced Guardians can tell the wounds were caused by vampires. Vampires come out at night to hunt, sucking human blood. They often create fake wounds on corpses to hide their tracks."
"The Frostwind Team recognized it, so they went to the town. However, the vampires we encountered were stronger than expected. We didn't even see the vampires' faces. I feel they could have killed us all if they wanted but chose not to."
"Hence, the first destination of this mission is there," Zhu Li recollected.
"When are you departing?" Lin Tian asked.
"The day after tomorrow," Zhu Li replied.
After a few more words, Zhu Li left. Right after, Rossi emerged from the room. Lin Tian gestured for him to sit before asking, "Did you hear what Zhu Li said? What Blood Clan do you think they belong to?"
