Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 506: Dream of Assimilation (Part 2)

"None of your business. You're sick in the head, keep pretending all you want, I'm done here. Not playing along with you anymore!"

But as the words left his mouth, he twitched slightly, gritting his teeth, forcing the words out from between them: "Yan, Yan Fei."

"Ah, hello, Yan Fei."

Ji Jue finally turned away from the furnace, smiling, introducing himself: "I'm Ji Jue."

Yan Fei's lips were tightly pursed, staring intently at him, unwilling to speak further.

Then, he heard his voice.

As if echoes from Hell, so distant and cold.

"Do you want to avenge your brother?"

The wounds buried beneath soil and forgetfulness were once again violently exposed, pain, resentment, hatred, like blood, flowed out once more, drowning everything, suffocating him, making him forget to think.

Instinctively clenching his fists, stepping forward, wanting to swing them and crush that false smile.

But he saw Ji Jue's eyes.

In pure darkness, it seemed as if crimson flames burned, in the scorched earth burned to ash, only ashes rose and fell, like Hell, at this moment, the dark Hell reflected his face.

Small as Dust.

He stiffened, frozen, struggling to breathe, trying to open his mouth, again and again, the only sound he could make was a vague murmur.

Like the dying moan.

Yet it made Ji Jue unable to restrain, a smile.

The tongs emerged from the flames, slowly drew out, from the burning wind that rushed forth, a glowing gold cup appeared before him.

The cup of searing Gold filled with a dreamy red.

Inside were the blood and soul of the wheel and giant tree's Angel, pain and despair, everything was here!

"Then drink, Yan Fei."

A distant voice came, bringing the revelation of heaven, telling him: "This will be the first drop of blood shed by the Holy God, right in your mouth..."

In a daze, Yan Fei instinctively wanted to step back, but before that, he was already compelled, stepping forward, holding the scorching gold cup as if grasping his life, his soul, even his everything, even if the flesh sizzled in the cup's burn.

Without thinking, he tilted his head back, downed it in one gulp!

Bang!

The empty gold cup fell, shattering into pieces.

In that instant, screams erupted, from his body, his soul, his consciousness, as if he had swallowed a mass of flames, burning everything, collapsing to the ground in disheveled anguish, screaming in pain.

But the screams had three voices.

As if three people filled his body, wailing, but gradually, expression became hideous, as if letting a gluttonous beast devour freely.

The other two voices all vanished in the howl.

Even his own voice was completely gone.

His throat had been scorched by iron molten, esophagus and stomach turned to charcoal, he lay on the ground, dying, his right hand suddenly detached from the shoulder, foreign flesh bounced off.

The mangled body convulsed in agony, rolling.

A sound of grinding steel echoed.

From the exposed bone, one sharp iron spike after another pierced out, entangling, falling off, forming a thorn-like iron ring, hanging high.

Behind, beneath the shattered flesh, bones revealed, but on the bones, steel grew, Iron Crystal proliferated, extended, forming sharp bones, amidst the flowing silver light, forming flesh, and on the flesh, a dull gray metal feather grew.

Steel wings suddenly unfolded, so vast, enveloping him entirely.

The sharp friction sound continued endlessly.

And when the iron wings spread again, that emaciated, broken boy had already vanished without a trace.

Replaced by a slender giant over three meters tall, his entire being encased in iron and metal, metal covered his face like flesh, replacing flesh, forming a new body.

On the sides of the face, six eyes slowly opened, emitting fierce red light.

Roaring aloud.

The tangible waves spread, billowing and sweeping, disrupting everything, turning the entire cabin into a mess.

But at the center of the storm, Ji Jue smiled, appreciating the monster before him, filled with delight, calmly watching, until the steel giant slowly knelt on the ground.

Towards him, offering the only remaining reverence and the little dignity.

Prostrating in worship.

As if in audience before a deity!

"It seems you've made your choice, Yan Fei."

Ji Jue reached out, placed a hand on his head, as if baptizing.

Under that upright palm, the steel monster quickly dissipated, reverting back to the appearance of the boy.

"Whether your drive is hatred or courage, it matters not.

The path left for you is but one, tread this path, there is nothing more worthy of your worship in this world, be it deities or demons."

"Today, I bestow this power upon you."

He leaned down, whispered finally in the boy's ear: "From now on, in the remainder of your life, there is only one thing you must do.

—Exact revenge upon those who created Hell, until they are annihilated!"

Revenge, until death.

So cruel, yet in that instant, the newly awakened boy could not restrain himself, breaking into a smile, nearly maniacal laughter, dancing with wild joy, two lines of bloody tears snaked down from his face.

Like scars, piercing through joy and pain.

In the corner of the workshop, the old craftsman quietly watched all this, and for a moment, squinted his eyes—in the observation of Marvelous Alchemy, he once again saw...

Something flowing from Yan Fei's body to Ji Jue's hand, entwining with that Illusion Dream power of awakening, merging into the flames.

At this moment, when he looked at Ji Jue, penetrating the shell of appearance, he finally sensed that terrifying gravity...

Like a black hole.

Simply existing here, ceaselessly eroding this ephemeral dream, expanding its own range.

That look, was almost like... stealing the dreams of others!

No, rather than stealing, it was more about assimilation!

Ah yes, how could he forget this?

But in the end, this kind of extraordinary phenomenon is far too rare; even when seen, one might only doubt their own eyes.

The erosion and assimilation of Heart Core by Ascension...

Indeed, the individual before me, having no affinity at all with Heart Core, ether, and Mirror, yet I forgot the relation among Superior.

The entanglement between Ascension and Heart Core.

The constant flow between desire and ideal, the entangling of divinity and beast nature, sometimes repelling, opposing, sometimes complementing each other.

Both originating from the soul, both from essence, one seeks within, arrogantly or humbly stepping toward higher ground, one expands outward, greedily or restrainfully embracing all.

Just as pure ideals easily decay in the soaking of desire and distraction, unwavering resolve unlost and unbroken in the Illusion Dream holds an unparalleled attraction to this dream.

As Heart Core dissolves Ascension, so too might Ascension, conversely, assimilate Heart Core.

Just as I am witnessing now...

Making others willingly offer their own dream, their own desire, their own soul, willingly, with both hands!

Some people, just by existing, continuously attract others toward them, when a resolve and boldness appear, it becomes enough to assimilate all ambitions and desires, turning everything into a part of themselves!

"Twisting the power of the Angel into a Mutant form, and granting it to others?"

In the endless long night, the old craftsman sighed lightly: "You surely waste nothing, your means are exquisite..."

After all, so-called Angels, so-called Divine Power, aren't they things born from the dreams and fantasies of all people? Since so, compared to the God intending to monopolize all dreams and fantasies, such means are rather more liked and appreciated.

"However, in that manner, instead of calling it an Angel, it might as well be called a Demon."

"Let's call it Demon Armament then."

Ji Jue gazed at the flickering campfire, and suddenly laughed: "Being a king in Hell isn't too bad."

After all, being in Hell, what more is there to lose?

Gather the Demon Crowd, forge the Armament.

The long, long arduous journey has just begun...
