"I mentioned this briefly before, but based on the trailer shown during the 2nd anniversary event and the Q&A responses, I pieced together a theory. In a future update, a new faction will emerge led by Adam and Abrea, and that faction's members may not be restricted by race.""If my guess is correct, then the new faction will need a communication channel between the Jeojajok and Viajok. At the time, I thought maybe they’d enable communication through spirits... but after seeing this, I’m starting to think the Shina tribe might be able to translate independently. Like Adam does."It was interesting. Like puzzle pieces falling into place, it brought a strange clarity to what had always been murky. But that was from the perspective of a player....A game that was marketed on the premise of two opposing races unable to communicate, suddenly deciding to allow cross-faction chat just two years in? As part of the first major update?I wasn’t saying Gang Jaegyung’s theory was wrong, but ZeroSoft wasn’t stupid either. Dusk had always relied on dividing players by race to generate faction loyalty and tension, capitalizing on the fact that the races couldn’t speak to one another. Even the ability to see chat while dead likely existed to preserve and amplify that divide. After all, teabagging disputes between players were still a common issue. So what would happen if they suddenly opened up communication?Players who found joy in that tension might feel like the game had lost its spark—lost its essence—and might just quit without fanfare.Hardcore story-followers like Gang Jaegyung were rare. Most Korean players just wanted to level up faster than everyone else, farm gear, and prove their strength. Would they really tolerate something that dulled the fun “for the sake of story progression”?[Party] Honeybread: If chat opens, the game gets boring. Not viable.[Party] Honeybread: Devs take a loss.I was raised in a household of businesspeople—everything I’d seen, learned, and done revolved around calculating profit and loss. So believe me when I say: unless they release content strong enough to cover that gap, they’ll end up losing the paying player base that keeps the servers alive. The game studio was a private company too, and no sane company would undermine their core mechanic—race-locked chat—just two years after launch."...I guess you're right. Honestly, it’s because I enjoyed killing you and chatting after that that I even got into Dusk."Gang Jaegyung accepted my argument easily. Realistically, he was the one who benefited most from race-locked communication."No, really—what you said makes a lot of sense. Racial conflict is one of the core identities of Dusk, so they wouldn’t just flip the switch on communication with one update. But still... the fact that they’re planting hints like this might mean they’re laying the groundwork to make it possible someday. Not now, but eventually. Like, years from now, they might reveal, ‘Remember that stuff from Hidden Spider? We finally figured out how to fix that, and now Jeojajok and Viajok can talk to each other!’ Maybe that’s the big picture they’re aiming for."So this was just foreshadowing for something far down the road."But I still wonder—why Hidden Spider, of all places? It’s not unusual to seed plot hints through the main story. In fact, it’s the easiest method. But if that’s the case, why use a method that isn’t even optimized for performance? And it’s not like they have to give us this breadcrumb. Anyone who’s interested in the story could probably guess from other clues that cross-race communication might become possible someday."Seriously… he’s really trying to figure out everything just from this. But there was little chance of arriving at a perfect answer just by obsessing over this one mirror. If we wanted to get to the bottom of it, we’d be better off progressing through the dungeon and gathering more data.[Party] Honeybread: We just don’t ❀ Nоvеlігht ❀ (Don’t copy, read here) have enough info[Party] Honeybread: We’ll probably get more hints if we keep clearing the dungeon"...You're right. If we keep pushing forward, we might find out the mirror’s actually used in a different part of the dungeon. Like you said, there’s just not enough information yet."Gang Jaegyung, who had been obsessing over the breadcrumb like it was life or death, finally came to his senses and agreed calmly. Good dog. Good dog.[Party] Honeybread: fr[Party] Honeybread: so let’s just keep going"Okay, then. No more delays—let’s get moving."With that, Gang Jaegyung and I quickly left the maze and began the dungeon in earnest.Title: Why did I die on 3rd server board?Author: [Viajok] StrategicGuyFeelsWeirdIt’s Hidden Spider opening day and I thought it’d be hella hot because of them—(4 comments)They're laying low because they don’t wanna get spoiled by people who rushed into Hidden Spider└ [Author] Ohh got itEven people not from Retaking’s side keep putting spoilers in titles and posting Hidden Spider screenshots, so now they’re just telling the rest of us who can’t log in yet to stay away... Lots of working adults want to experience the story themselves, but people don’t care.└ [Author] Didn’t realize that was a thing. Thanks[Lv.45 Black-Tinted Aberration]We arrived in a familiar area, where monsters that brought back terrible memories were pecking at the ground in clusters. The black crow mobs that made us suffer for nine straight minutes last time.Time for revenge.Once again, I dove into the middle of the mobs and used a taunt skill. The black crows’ eyes flared red and they rushed me. Without stopping, I dashed toward the next cluster.Last time we tried mob-pulling like this, we dipped our heads into hell—but this time was different. While I kept the black crows' aggro, Gang Jaegyung carefully applied DoTs to each one. Once I confirmed all the mobs were focused on me, I exited the artificial-light garden and entered a shadowy corridor.[System] The Black-Tinted Aberration’s sense of self has weakened due to exposure to darkness! The first mob’s weakness was similar to the white round-eyed ones we encountered before. Their black forms stood out too much in light, so you had to lure them into dark spaces to blur their identity—once weakened, you just pummel them. Thanks to their visibly nerfed attacks, we could focus fully on DPS. In less than a minute, Gang Jaegyung wiped out over forty black crows with a single cast of .[Party] Retaking a Class: Wow"...So it really was this simple."Yeah, seriously. What kind of clown show were we putting on last time?"But I think that run was more fun."Yeah, this bastard’s definitely a masochist. …Still, there was something thrilling about the chaos back then.We picked up the junk loot the mobs dropped and stepped back into the garden. And that’s when we saw it—[Party] Honeybread: huh"Oh. The golem’s already here?"It was , the first named boss.I remembered last time the golem had risen from the ground when a spirit appeared near that archway. But this time, maybe because we skipped the cutscene, there was no spirit—just the golem, sitting there alone.[Party] Retaking a Class: Did you bring mobs over there earlier or something?[Party] Honeybread: Don’t be stupidHe was asking even though he knew I had pulled the mobs over there. I swung my weapon at Gang Jaegyung’s character. He laughed—“ㅋㅋ”—and ran toward the golem. The slumped golem opened its eyes with a loud crack as he approached and slowly rose to its feet. With heavy, deliberate movement, it planted itself and stared us down....But something felt off. This wasn’t how it felt last time, was it?"Huh. No cutscene this time. Guess it’s the same as before."I looked at it skeptically, but Gang Jaegyung seemed unfazed as he got ready for battle. Huh. Maybe I imagined it? If he didn’t notice anything, then maybe it really was just me overthinking it.Shaking off the unease, I accepted the buffs he sent and double-checked that we were both ready. Then I used a disrupt skill to pull aggro from the golem.[System] The Abandoned Garden Sector is now sealed. The golem lumbered toward me and began swinging its fists. I rushed in close to make room for my teammate behind me—and then the golem began to use a skill I hadn’t seen in a long time.
