The smaller half of the worm had already been taken by Suna.Yang Yi, meanwhile, was inspecting his chainmail. He discovered that the area where he had been bitten was now deformed. If he hadn't managed to tear the worm off in time, or if it hadn't broken in two, the chainmail would have likely been pierced. Being bitten by that thing would have resulted in a bloody mess. After checking his body and looking over his stats to confirm everything was fine, Yang Yi began to check the Nyxstar's interface. The ship's durability was slowly decreasing, which meant the worm's suction was causing damage. If this continued, the Nyxstar's hull would inevitably be breached. Even if the worms stopped their assault, the ship would be in serious trouble. He had to get rid of them as soon as possible, especially since he'd seen other icebergs approaching—icebergs that were probably crawling with more of the same damn worms.Over on her side of the room, Suna was completely focused on dissecting the worm corpse. She sliced it open with a single stroke, examining its internal structure and organs, her brow furrowed in either disgust or concentration. The bisected worm finally stopped writhing, looking like a splayed-out piece of soft, fatty meat covered in sharp teeth and hook-like barbs. It was filled with a white, oily fluid that gave off a pungent odor. The more she cut, the deeper her frown became. The creature's anatomy was too simple; it was essentially just a giant straw for sucking up prey. The only organ of note was a sensor-like tentacle at its tail end for perceiving its surroundings."How long is this worm?" Suna asked."Very long," Yang Yi replied. "From the sea surface to here, probably twenty meters!"A worm ten centimeters in diameter but twenty meters long was ridiculously inefficient… unless it wasn't a worm at all, but a specialized feeding tentacle, like an elephant's trunk. That would also explain why all the 'worms' moved in perfect unison; they were all part of the same creature."I don't think this is a worm," she explained. "It's just a specialized appendage for feeding. This whole swarm… it probably belongs to a single entity.""Ah, I get it," Yang Yi concluded. "So, cutting these things off is just like cutting off its arms and legs. It probably won't kill it, right?""Uh… you could put it that way," Suna replied, slightly taken aback. She dabbed her dagger in the worm's oily fluid and sniffed. The smell was familiar, like a flammable organic solution from a lab. She held it to the hearth, and it immediately ignited."Yang Yi, the creature's body fluid is flammable!" she called out, turning to him, her eyes wide with excitement… and then she froze.Yang Yi, at some point, had changed into a bizarre outfit. He was wearing a waterproof sharkskin swimsuit with his sweater and thermal pants on underneath it, covered by his chainmail. On his hands were the spider-web gloves. It was a fashion disaster of epic proportions."What are you doing?" Suna asked."Wasting no time. I'm going to kill these things," he said. He reached into his pouch and pulled out a shockingly large greatsword wrapped in cloth. The Ironcleaver. It was time. It crashed to the floor, gouging out a deep crater."You're using that as a weapon?" Suna asked, stunned by its immense size."Yep!" he said, unwrapping it. "To deal with big monsters, you need a bigger weapon!" He held the sword, willing its fear-spirit to drain his Sanity, a vial of [Scarlet Potion] in his other hand, ready to drink. With the [Frenzy] and the potion's buff, he would be able to wield the sword."I'll go out and cut these tentacles," he explained, his plan brutally simple. "As soon as I do, you move the ship and pull me back up.""They're probably afraid of fire," Suna countered, disliking his reckless plan. "We can try to drive them away.""It'll burn," he said simply. "I've dreamed it. The whole ship could catch fire, and I'd be caught in it too."Suna didn't argue further. She knew how stubborn he could be. A few minutes later, his eyes reddened as he entered the [Frenzy]. He immediately chugged the [Scarlet Potion], his skin flushing red as his stats soared to their mortal limits. Then, with a tremendous, gut-wrenching effort, he began to lift the greatsword. The bones in his body groaned and creaked under the strain, but he finally hoisted it up, punching a new hole in the ceiling in the process. The sword began to vibrate, a low hum of excitement, and the immense weight in his hands seemed to lessen, as if he had passed its test."Heh, good sword!" he grinned. Unable to fit through the door with the massive weapon, he simply hacked a new exit through the wall of the cabin and charged out.Suna watched him go, a contemplative look on her face. Then, she picked up a piece of wood, dipped it in the worm's flammable fluid, lit it on the hearth, and followed him out with her makeshift torch.Outside, Yang Yi's every step was heavy, cracking the bone plating on the deck and drawing the attention of the worms. A one-meter-thick worm, the leader of the pack, lunged at him. This time, Yang Yi didn't dodge. He just swung the impossibly large sword back to meet it.
