Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 506: Mutual Aid Society

This is somewhat a heart-crushing statement, but it is not without reason. Throughout the entire capture process, Honey List didn't retaliate and maintained enough restraint.

It indeed doesn't seem like the style of a terrorist.

"Ring ring..." Luke's phone rang, the screen displaying the number of FBI Deputy Director Lynn Brouss.

"Marcus, take him to the car. Do not question him for now, and don't let anyone come into contact with him."

"OK, I'll take good care of this soldier."

Luke walked aside and pressed the answer button, "This is Luke."

The voice of Lynn Brouss came from the phone, "Consultant Li, did you catch him?"

"Yes, we caught Honey List. His car was overturned, but he didn't retaliate, and he didn't have weapons. Did you find anything at his house?"

"The weapons in his house amounted to only a handgun and a semi-automatic rifle. No suspicious explosives or related chemical materials were found.

In his home safe, we found medication for treating mental depression. Normally, people wouldn't keep medications they frequently take in a safe, which leads me to suspect that he stopped taking them on his own, likely worsening his mental condition."

Luke pondered for a moment, "During the capture process, he didn't make any moves to retaliate. Based on your experience, does he seem like a terrorist?"

Lynn Brouss replied, "It's hard to say. Some highly intelligent terrorists like to disguise themselves as harmless creatures, and such individuals are precisely the most dangerous.

If you're unsure, you can hand him over to me for interrogation."

Luke said, "I want to talk to him first."

"Okay, keep in touch."

Luke ended the call and called over Jackson, "Do you think he looks like a terrorist?"

Jackson showed a thoughtful expression, "He didn't inquire first when he saw the police searching his house but instead ran away immediately. This action is indeed somewhat suspicious.

However, during the capture process, he truly didn't exhibit any extreme behavior nor made me feel threatened; I also find it somewhat contradictory."

"You don't need to think too much now. Just tell me your intuition."

"I think he should have mental issues, but probably not a terrorist."

"Whether he is a terrorist or not, you've done great this time." Luke patted Jackson's shoulder and headed towards the police car holding Honey List.

Investigations rely on teamwork, and Luke hopes his subordinates can have the ability to take charge independently.

Luke opened the car door and unlocked the handcuffs on Honey List, "Buddy, let's get out and talk a bit."

Honey List rubbed his wrists and looked at Luke, "I told you, I'm not a terrorist. Can I leave now?"

Considering comprehensively, Luke also thinks that the likelihood of Honey List being a terrorist is low.

But that doesn't mean he has no connection with this case. Luke hopes to unearth some valuable clues from him.

He can sense Honey List's wariness towards the police, and what Luke needs to do now is eliminate his wariness and make him voluntarily cooperate with the police.

Simultaneously, during the conversation, Luke will pay attention to his expressions. If he shows signs of lying, it indicates he is likely a terrorist skilled at disguising himself.

Luke handed him a cigarette, helping him light it, preparing to enter a heart-to-heart mode, "Buddy, I'm sorry for visiting your trench without your consent.

But I must say, you did dig it well."

Honey List took a puff of his cigarette, "You also overturned my mom's car; she lent it to me.

Better give me a reasonable explanation, or I'll definitely sue you."

"Don't worry about the car; the FBI anti-terrorism unit will provide you with satisfying compensation."

"I don't want money," Honey List questioned loudly, "Why do you treat me as a terrorist? I have spilled blood for this country, and this is the outcome I get?"

"I understand your feelings and know you're not happy after retiring. We're not targeting you, but the city has suffered a terrorist attack, and we'll suspect everyone related to it." Luke took the tablet from the little black hand, opened a few photos of the bombing scene, and showed them to Honey List.

"If the attacker is not found in time, this city will suffer a new round of attacks in ten hours.

You and your family also live in Los Angeles, and I believe you don't want such incidents to happen."

After looking at the photos, Honey List's tone was much calmer, "Why do you think I'm related to the bombing case?"

"Do you know Anette Stone?"

"Yes, he's an independent investigative journalist. I contacted him recently. Is this bombing case related to him?"

"He's dead, and died tragically." Luke opened a few photos of the dismemberment case and showed them to Honey List.

"Oh my god, was it done by terrorists? Anette was a good person; he shouldn't be treated like this!"

"It's not certain yet, but according to our investigation, the site where he was killed and dismembered is at the slaughterhouse where you once worked."

"Is that why you suspect I'm a terrorist?"

"Not only that, we also found bomb-making-related chemicals in the slaughterhouse.

Shortly after that, there was an explosion in the news department of the television station.

And all these clues point to you, which is why we searched your house."

Honey List grabbed at his hair forcefully, "Ridiculous, I'm linked to terrorists. I can explain, I'm not involved in the bombing case."
