Demon Sword Sect's Undercover

Chapter 1168: Pressing the Attack

The ocean's octopus species are plentiful, outsiders find it nearly impossible to distinguish between them, and indeed there's no need, as their characteristics are mostly similar.

The octopus that jumped out from the sea has a renowned name in the ocean, the King Octopus, known for its massive size capable of entwining a colossal whale to death.

The octopus fights as simply and brutally as a bear monster, devoid of any fancy tricks, as neither relies on speed to prevail, hence, they immediately became entangled.

This is true entwining, a seamless close contact, like a pair of lovers.

The bear monster's immense strength is meaningless before the octopus, as its body is soft and boneless, being a soft-bodied demon without bones; its surface is slick with mucus, slipping from grasp, leaving the old bear speechless as this entity tears and grabs without restraint, a single tentacle seemingly capable of endless extension, while the bear monster's stout little arms can never explore the octopus's limits?

Yet the octopus is equally helpless against the bear monster, its tentacles unable to bind this fellow as firm as gold and stone, ink blinding is futile, and venom ineffective against the tough-skinned old bear...

This battle is devoid of any spectacle, with the two sides instantly locked in embrace, intimately entangled.

Both are renowned defensive monsters with vigorous vitality, relying on tearing oppression as their primary battle tactic, leaving no space to wield weapons while hugging each other.

This fight turned into the dead grind dreaded by monsters, with no end unless one side's demonic power wanes.

Watching the scene, a large blob fluctuating in size, countless sucker-laden tentacles writhing, the bear monster inside continuously roaring with vigor, occasionally reaching out its arms but powerless against the tentacles.

The two uniquely characteristic monsters are locked in stalemate, neither daring to release the grip, wishing for eternity.

The battle becoming a savage farce, entanglement and counter-entanglement draining substantial demonic power, but this depletion evidently disadvantages the octopus, given the desert's exceedingly unique environment, dry and windy, causing its expenditure to far exceed its opponent, under such climate even the octopus's body mucus becomes dry from inadequate secretion, and dryness on a sea creature's body is nearly fatal.

In another setting, the octopus defeating the bear monster at sea would be unsurprising, even inland it's a fifty-fifty chance, but here, it's not the Sea Clan's domain.

No one came forth to halt this, for in such public view, the Demon Clan wouldn't step forward to appoint a mediator like humans; their custom dictates a definite resolution must be seen.

If the battle speed is fast, it doesn't seem savage as life and death often occur in an instant, but here it's a gradual march towards death, making it an entirely different scenario.

Hou Niao and Tan Xiao naturally wouldn't feel compassion, to them this is just dogs biting dogs, merely lamenting the cruelty in the Cultivation World, different from the human world and the Demon Beast World.

The human world is rife with schemes and treachery, while the Demon Beast World is so straightforward.

"It'll be settled within three days, the octopus could still extricate now, but after one day, even fleeing may become a luxury." Tan Xiao judged.

"It won't flee, with tens of thousands of eyes watching, the Demon Clan also values its integrity." Nineteenth Aunt shook her head.

Hou Niao barely paid attention to this tedious fight, it seemed too clumsy to him, questioning the significance of cultivation if battles were always like this?

"Look at Ming Bone Mountain, I estimate a declaration will be made post this fight's resolution, that's when the genuine battle will commence, this is merely the appetizer."

Due to the bear monster and octopus's entanglement, tens of thousands of Demon Clans quieted down, whether the demons lurking outside Minggu Mountain or those standing atop Bone Mountain, all tacitly awaited something.

A day later, the octopus finally awakened from its frenzy, attempting to relinquish its grip on the bear monster, but how could the bear monster let it escape easily?

Disregarding its eight long tentacles, it firmly locked onto the octopus's head, unyielding, sensing its opponent's body drying increasingly, knowing victory beckons; having been entwined and humiliated for an entire day, now is the time to reap the rewards.

Two days later, the octopus gave up its entanglement on the bear monster, wanting to curl into a ball but lacking the strength; eight awe-inspiring tentacles drooped five, only leaving three still writhing, attempting self-liberation, but alas, its decision came too late.

A battle, relying solely on courage and impulse without assessing the situation, once realization dawns, who would extend another chance?

No one from the Sea Clan stepped out to assist, nor did anyone from the Wing Clan; the Mountain Demons expressed no sympathy, as within the Demon Clan's rules, weakness is original sin.

The King Octopus's move, unknown how many lives it claimed over its millennium existence, now finally its turn; the move wasn't faulty, the environment was, bringing a profound lesson to the Sea Clan present, making them realize in competing against other inland species, the Sea Clan was not yet capable.

On the third day, the octopus visibly shriveled, its mana nearly withered, under the bear monster's ever-strengthening counter-locking its vitality waned.

The bear monster's head finally emerged, the first time during the days-long entanglement, perhaps feeling the battle's severity, its pent-up resentment found release, devouring soon began although the octopus was yet to perish, a feat previously impossible but now executed with ease.

The octopus attempted to detonate its inner core, but its decision came too late, under the bear monster's mana control, the octopus's inner core was powerless; from start to finish, the octopus's greatest failure was failing to act decisively upon assessing circumstances, its escape attempt belated, now the core detonation too late, merely revealing this Sea Demon was indecisive, possibly influenced by its character-rooted fighting style.

The octopus's entangling was a double-edged sword, bringing glory while sowing seeds of today's catastrophe.

The bear monster's devouring speed accelerated, swiftly, the octopus's huge head and inner core were devoured entirely, and then was like chewing brittle bones swallowing the eight tentacles, but they were too large to consume wholly, thus hurling few tentacles into the Mountain Demons, inviting immense cheers.

This Mountain Demon provocation towards the Sea and Wing clans achieved full victory, their strength proved who spoke with resolve amongst the Continent's Demon Clan.

In silence, Sea and Wing clans brewed something, but this time, the elders atop Ming Bone wouldn't overlook, as their objectives attained, no need to further test Sea and Wing clans' limits.
