Demon Sword Sect's Undercover

Chapter 1161: Winged Tribe Squad

Their luan carriage circled ceaselessly around the Eye of the Rainbow.

When encountering lone Winged Clan members, they would not show themselves. As the Little Peacock put it, it would be best to encounter a group.

The Demon Clan liked to act in groups, unlike human cultivators who were solitary like lone wolves. Maintaining a sense of distance was the hallmark of human cultivators, especially the Winged Clan, who habitually flew in formations like various types of geese.

After spiraling over the sea for seven or eight days, they finally saw an opportunity—a group of six demon birds flying in a distant formation. The Little Peacock made a snap decision,

"It's them; do not speak, just follow my orders."

Hou Niao and Tan Xiao exchanged silent glances. The Little Peacock was right; when did human pets have the right to speak when the master was handling things?

Hou Niao glanced at the indignant Tan Xiao and laughed, "Mind your expressions. I won't insist on respect, but at least a neutral face is essential. Don't show scorn or ridicule, don't wear that superior Daoist facade."

Tan Xiao snorted, "If you can bear it, so can I."

The luan carriage burst out of the clouds, maintaining the same direction as the group of demon birds but at a different angle, flying parallel. Soon, the demon birds discovered them, slightly swerving, already collided.

Hou Niao and Tan Xiao had no reaction. Though they joked around, when faced with real situations, they remained calm and composed—a trait a strong person must have.

But the Nineteenth Aunt wouldn't remain inactive. Among the Winged Clan, there were their own ways of greeting. Looking skyward, she let out a sharp cry and tugged on the reins. After days of training, Tan Xiao immediately understood her intention, turning and pulling the luan carriage straight towards the demon birds.

Hou Niao watched the excitement throughout, exerting no effort, making him the only true lord among the three.

Demonic energy surged, strong winds howled, as if forming the eye of a storm. In their high-speed dash, both sides let out long cries, raising their momentum. The piercing wails echoed throughout the clouds.

The only difference was that the six demon birds were flying in their true forms, while the Nineteenth Aunt sat atop the luan carriage.

The sky was filled with swirling demonic power, like countless small knives slicing through. Such a clash could roughly gauge the power difference between them. The Demon Clan was direct like that; normally, when two Bird Demons met, they would almost brush past each other, observing each other's performance in such fierce engagements—whether feathers flew, whether movements were uncontrollable, whether breath was chaotic...

The Nineteenth Aunt didn't retract the luan carriage, making self-control more difficult, but this was deliberate. She wanted to demonstrate her abilities to gain the right to speak among these bird demons, to be recognized more quickly.

The double luan carriages pierced through the formation like a wedge, the immense winds generated by their high-speed movement causing significant shear effects. Each demon bird was affected to some degree, the worst being a corner-positioned bird that had to adjust its flying posture to conceal.

However, the double luan carriage didn't change at all; the entire vehicle, although massive, remained extraordinarily stable in the flight clash.

Just this clash gave the demon birds a preliminary understanding of each other's strength. Perhaps their divine skills were still unknown, but for demon birds, they valued one thing the most—the body.

"Fellow Daoist from which Immortal Island? We are the Six Friends of Dark Bay, heading to the continent for a gathering."

The Nineteenth Aunt proudly raised her head, "I am Hai Dongqing from East Qing Island."

Signaling the two to wait aside, she spread her wings to fly over; the following interaction belonged to their Winged Clan, and because of the great distance, the two unfortunate souls could not hear clearly.

"Six Friends of Dark Bay? I've never heard of them," Hou Niao shook his head, somewhat helplessly.

Tan Xiao teased, "It's as if you know many overseas demon birds. Just say you don't know any of these demons instead of boosting yourself."

"A Nascent Soul Great Demon, five Golden Core Great Demons. It seems the deep sea Winged Clan's power is not to be underestimated."

"What we see of the Jinxiu Continent is only a part. There are many hidden powers; at least the strength of the human cultivation world is clear, but how many of these demons there truly are, who can truly know? Deep Outer Sea, ten thousand great mountains, what about the depths of the desert?"

Before long, the demon birds over there had reached a consensus. They weren't human, not so focused on conspiracy theories. When bloodline was determined beyond doubt, the rest didn't matter.

This Hai Dongqing bird friend had great strength, a pure bloodline with a touch of nobility, undeniable traits; also coming from the west of the deep sea, holding an invitation like them—what's there to doubt?

This group swelled to seven members, with the Nineteenth Aunt, due to her formidable prowess, gaining the privilege of flying alongside the Nascent Soul Winged Demon in the middle position.

Looking at the Nineteenth Aunt's carriage, the Winged Demons were envious. It was a symbol of power; overseas, it was not novel to capture humans as servants, but most captured were Foundation Establishment cultivators. To capture a Golden Core cultivator as a steed indicated incredible control power.

The Nascent Soul Great Demon introduced himself as Red Crest, named so because the crest on his head, like a rooster's, was entirely a radiant red, exuding a certain dazzling red light, undoubtedly linked to his divine skills. These demon birds often extend their divine skills to the extreme, projecting them through parts of their bodies in a wondrous manner.

"Hai Daoist, your two human controllers are rare indeed, with deep mana and retained sanity. Are you willing to part with them?"

The Nineteenth Aunt coolly replied, "Elder, it's not that Hai is stingy, but these two are controlled by my Confusing Heart Divine Power and cannot be released; releasing them would spell trouble."

Red Crest nodded, not persisting.

Just as humans control demons as pets, the Demon Clan has similar methods of control. Yet, perfect control is rare; they don't complete the control over human cultivators through cultivation techniques, solely relying on their divine skills.

Divine skills are myriad and bizarre, but few can control human cultivators, especially those of the same realm. The Nineteenth Aunt's statement meant informing these demon birds—these two were already ensnared by her divine skills; releasing them would either lead to irretrievable freedom, backlash on the master, or losing their vitality.

The group of demon birds flew contentedly, without hurry—as attending this Demon Gathering already gave much face to the Mountain Demon, Sand Demon, and Outer Space Demons, of course, they should arrive last to reflect the Winged Demons' status in the Jinxiu Continent's Demon Clan.

Throughout the journey, the Nineteenth Aunt subtly probed and finally understood the causes and consequences behind this Demon Gathering.
