The Peerless Beauty Stuck With Me

Chapter 1013: Encirclement

"Tang Rao, my brother, while you were away, I went ahead to look for grass. The soil seems loose, indicating someone may have been here recently."

"Ba Wangba's words confirmed Tang Rao's suspicions."

"Indeed, there are signs of activity in this place."

"I think so too. The Array was reinforced ten days ago, so signs of activity are normal."

The old woman stood there, unable to understand what they were saying, but she tried her best to listen.

"Benefactor, can we still save the people in our courtyard today?"

So many have died, if this continues, everyone in the courtyard will perish.

"I will try to find a way."

As before, Tang Rao dared not give guarantees or too much hope.

The disappointment in the old woman's eyes deeply tormented Tang Rao's heart.

"Let's go back first, let's not alert the enemy."

Saving lives is a small matter; capturing the one who maliciously poisoned the Array is the real task.

Ba Wangba nodded quickly, guiding the old woman outside. Before leaving, Tang Rao scattered all traces of the three's presence.

This was his brilliance. The person who put poison in the Array did not expect anyone in the mortal realm could uncover his trickery.

The people in the courtyard heard someone had the ability to cure them and crowded Aunt Zhang's courtyard, begging her to bring the benefactor out.

"Aunt Zhang, we've been neighbors for so many years, can you bear to watch my family die like this? We just want to meet the benefactor, please agree."

Regarding this benefactor, they had mixed feelings. They weren't sure if Tang Rao really had the skill.

Still, even one piece of hope was worth clinging to.

What if the benefactor leaves tonight, then what would they do?

With no food or drink, just waiting to die, it was unbearable.

"Aunt Zhang, it's like the fifty some villagers are begging you."

Standing outside was Aunt Zhang, the old woman, fulfilling Tang Rao's request not to let the people inside.

Despite her good secrecy measures, someone had overheard and spread the news, leading to many people blocking Aunt Zhang's door, unwilling to leave without seeing the lifesaver.

"You should go back, the benefactor is indeed with me. He is still researching the disease. The benefactor said the medicine will be ready tomorrow, so please wait one more night. When the medicine is ready, I'll inform the village chief to notify everyone. How does that sound?"

Aunt Zhang knew she couldn't hide it anymore and began to make promises to people.

Innately trusting Tang Rao, Aunt Zhang had unwavering faith in him.

Whatever Tang Rao said, Aunt Zhang believed he could do it.

"Will it really be ready tomorrow?"

"If tomorrow, that would be great. My child can only hold out for three more days, so he could be saved."

"Yes, let's just wait here. Once the medicine is ready, we can take it and avoid worsening the disease."

The fifty-plus villagers finally agreed unanimously to camp outside Aunt Zhang's house tonight.

She hadn't seen so much commotion in years.

With her old man just gone, it's good to have so many people staying here.

"I don't have extra blankets at home. You should go home to get blankets before coming back; it's cold, don't catch a chill."

The villagers sent someone from houses with extra blankets to retrieve them, while others just sat, thinking a cold night was worth survival.

If the benefactor left and their spot was taken, they'd lose the chance to live.

Tang Rao was at Aunt Zhang's, sitting on a pile of grass, sweating profusely, eyes closed, muttering softly.

Ba Wangba guarded Tang Rao silently, fearing Tang Rao might lose control.

But Tang Rao wasn't using Immortal Technique.

To mislead Ba Wangba from suspecting he had such an Immortal Emperor's Treasure like a portable palace, Tang Rao fabricated a lie, which Ba Wangba believed.

At that moment, Tang Rao was inside the portable palace, bewildered by the piles of heavenly treasure before him.

"Even though I can turn these Immortal Elixirs into Immortal Pills, reaching millions might be possible, but only five days are left, four of which have passed already. Even if I grew centipede legs, I couldn't reach all places."

"Failing to save enough people means failing the mission."

Tang Rao wanted to leave time to slay the cunning person who poisoned the Array. If doubled, these five days would still be tight.

"Idiot, have you considered how hundreds of thousands were infected?"

As Tang Rao pondered deeply, the shadow of Little Fire Ginseng interrupted his thoughts.

"You're the fool! Tell me how they got infected, then?"

Tang Rao was clueless, assuming it must be air or contact between people, what else could it be?

"Ten buckets of instant noodles and a pack of chicken feet."

Little Fire Ginseng stopped heating the Medicine Tripod, reaching out to Tang Rao.

This little thing knew how to bargain at such crucial times.

"Okay, tell me first. If you convince me, I'll give it to you immediately. If not, you'll live here forever, and not return to the Land of Immortals with me."

Tang Rao meant it, even thinking of not letting Little Fire Ginseng go back to the Land of Immortals. Did he see no value in the ginseng?

No, for Little Fire Ginseng, being deemed worthless was the worst fate.

"Water, the daily water, river water, this is also a transmission route. How could you forget that?"

Fire Ginseng didn't haggle, and spilled out his thoughts: "Alchemy, dissolve the Elixir Pills in water, then rain it down. Isn't that simple?"

Indeed, tang Rao focused solely on the disease, missing such an straightforward solution.

He grabbed ten buckets of instant noodles and a bag of spiced chicken feet from his Space Ring and handed them to Fire Ginseng.

"Considering you still have some usefulness, I'm reluctantly taking you back to the Land of Immortals. Quickly warm the Pill Furnace, I'm about to start alchemy."

Tang Rao spent a whole night making Elixir Pills, filling an entire Space Ring, with quantities more than adequate.

He stored the Space Ring and let the exhausted Fire Ginseng rest right where he lay, while he left the portable palace. As he opened his eyes, it was already bright outside.

The room was quiet, but outside there was quite a bit of whispering, which Tang Rao, having good hearing, caught their words.

"Aunt Zhang, the sun is already high. Can you go in and check how the benefactor is? We've never seen anyone heal just by staying inside overnight."

The waves of doubt were unceasing, and though Aunt Zhang intended to do good, she bore accusations, following Tang Rao's instructions not to step inside even once.

"Just wait a little longer; the benefactor will be out soon. Whatever he says, he never breaks his promise."

Inside her cloudy eyes were streaks of red, a sign of a sleepless night.
