Evil Dragon Crazy Soldier King

Chapter 1318: Foolish Questions

Yang Fei laughed heartily, "So it turns out your leg isn't broken, and you don't have any internal injuries either."

Nuannuan looked at Yang Fei's nasty smile, realizing she'd been tricked, and threw a tantrum before pouncing onto his back.

"I don't care, anyway you scared me, and now I'm dizzy. I want you to carry me."

Faced with this little girl's unreasonable demands, Yang Fei felt somewhat helpless and smiled wryly.

"Alright, alright, let's say I owed you from a past life, let's go."

Nuannuan beamed with joy, wrapping her arms around Yang Fei's neck and comfortably leaning against him like a little fox stealing a hen.

Before long, greenery gradually appeared in the desert.

Looking ahead, patches of cactus grew thickly, with some drought-resistant shrubs in between.

After walking more than ten kilometers, a small inland lake suddenly appeared before their eyes.

Most of the lake had dried up, but there was still a shallow pool of clear spring water at the bottom.

Around the lake, numerous shrubs grew densely, vibrant with greenery.

In this desolate and treacherous desert land, stumbling upon this oasis gave both Nuannuan and Yang Fei a boost of spirit.

Nuannuan struggled on Yang Fei's back, laughing and shouting.

"Oh my gosh, we actually found the legendary water source, it's unbelievable! This oasis could totally sustain a whole tribe."

She jumped to the ground and ran towards the water source, only to be caught by Yang Fei.

"Be careful, there are usually fierce animals lurking near a water source."

Nuannuan halted but stubbornly countered, "How could that be? I don't see anything."

Yang Fei picked up a stone from the ground and hurled it towards the water, splashing far off.

Instantly, some sand particles near the lake suddenly began to move.

Nuannuan focused her gaze and saw dense clusters of Fire Scorpions, thousands of them, using their camouflage to perfectly blend with the sand.

From afar, they looked just like static sand particles.

Yang Fei's stone broke the silence around the lake, causing the Fire Scorpions to wriggle, disturbing the surrounding animals.

Poisonous Spiders and Drought Snakes emerged from the sand piles, in swarms, both terrifying and disgusting.

Nuannuan felt her skin crawl, her mouth agape, staring dumbfounded at Yang Fei.

"How did you know there were poisonous creatures near the desert? It's really dangerous."

The little girl's admiring eyes made Yang Fei quite smug, and he hummed with pride.

"As a man of a certain age, I can't live ignorantly like a dog; I obviously need to know some things you little girls don't."

Nuannuan clicked her tongue at his boastful rant, rolling her eyes.

"You're just boasting shamelessly."

Yang Fei chuckled and explained.

"Whether in the desert or jungle, near a water source is always the most dangerous place."

"All animals need water, so areas near water sources become the best hunting grounds for animals at the top of the food chain."

As he spoke, he pointed with flourish to the nine o'clock direction.

"See, the animals there are the most terrifying."

At the nine o'clock direction was the richest part of the lake, where the shrubs grew most luxuriously.

Strangely enough, almost no animals lingered there.

Guided by Yang Fei, Nuannuan suddenly spotted a strange creature at the root of a bush.

It looked like a snake, coiled, with pointed horns on its head, small in size, and entirely black.

Nuannuan shivered suddenly, her voice even shaking a little, "Is that a Horned Viper?"

Yang Fei nodded, smiling lightly, "You're not entirely silly; this is one of the most dangerous venomous creatures in the desert."

"A common person bitten by it would die instantly; even a Martial Arts Master wouldn't survive longer than fifteen minutes."

He said this and smiled at Nuannuan.

"Imagine if you recklessly stepped into the Horned Viper's hunting territory, what would happen?"

Nuannuan shivered again, her left foot stepping back as if touched by hot coal.

"My gosh, that's too scary."

Yang Fei sighed, "These Horned Vipers are unique to the desert, I can't even see how many there are."

"So we mustn't go near the water source; if bitten by a Viper, it would be big trouble."

Nuannuan frowned, "But, what to do? Seeing the water source but not being able to drink freely, it's truly unfortunate."

Yang Fei was amused by the little girl's cute indignation, took out the Heavy Sword of the Destroyed Army, and buzzed it with Essence Qi.

He said casually, "As long as there's a water source, we can drink water. Since we can't go there, we'll just dig a well."

"Dig a well?"

Nuannuan looked at Yang Fei skeptically, a bit hesitant, "This...can it work?"

Yang Fei ignored her, choosing a low-lying area and started digging with the Heavy Sword of the Destroyed Army.

Poor Martial God's Sword, being used by Yang Fei to dig soil. If seen by all the world's Martial Artists, they'd definitely curse him.

In no time, Yang Fei had already dug a well over three meters deep.

Located in a low-lying area, he quickly reached moist soil, and digging further, water began to seep out from underground.

Yang Fei hopped out of the well, waited for the murky water to settle for a bit, filled a military water jug, and handed it to Nuannuan.

Despite the sand-filtering process and settling, the water remained somewhat unclear.

Nuannuan wrinkled her nose, "Uncle, can this be drunk?"

Yang Fei snorted, "When you're thirsty enough to consider drinking your own urine, you'd no longer ask such naïve questions."

Nuannuan scoffed, "You're the one who drinks urine; your whole family drinks urine."

Yang Fei said matter-of-factly, "If it's non-toxic, not dangerous, and can sustain vital signs, that's the meaning of water in the desert."

"If you want to drink mineral water, you have to go back to Mikaelo."

Nuannuan licked her lips.

In reality, she hadn't drunk water for seven to eight hours now, her throat was parched and feeling burning dry, she could hardly bear it anymore.

Nuannuan finally took the water from Yang Fei, grimaced, and drank a mouthful.

Though muddy, the spring water brought a refreshing coolness that spread through her whole body, quite invigorating.

Nuannuan drank all the clear water in the jug in one go, then filled another and drank it dry, finally sighing contentedly.

"I never imagined water from the desert could taste so good."

Yang Fei chuckled, laying down with an arm under his head, casually speaking.

"There's something even better I could have."

Nuannuan curiously asked, "What's that?"

Yang Fei responded indifferently, "Human blood, especially Martial Artist's blood, great tonic, taste's actually quite good."

Nuannuan startled, turning pale.

"Brother Fei, you're kidding me right? You definitely haven't had it, right?"

Yang Fei chuckled, "You better call me uncle; to survive, whether it's human blood or human flesh, it's not a big deal."

Nuannuan turned paler, timidly looking at Yang Fei.

"You...you really have eaten it, that's terrifying."
