Martial Arts Overlord

Chapter 329: Saving Lives

SWOOSH!

Bing Ruolan reined in her Six-leg Demon Horse; Luo Feng had already flown down, landing beside the corpse on the ground.

The body belonged to a youth of about sixteen or seventeen. His mouth was agape, his wide eyes lifeless. A sword wound pierced cleanly through his chest; it was apparent his killer was skilled in the Sword Dao.

Bing Ruolan also hurried over. Looking at the corpse on the ground, she exclaimed in shock, "A student from the Floating Snow School!"

The corpse was dressed in the white uniform of the Floating Snow School, one of the four major academies.

Luo Feng nodded. His gaze shifted forward, his expression solemn. He vanished and reappeared a hundred meters away.

Bing Ruolan spurred her horse to follow and was immediately taken aback by the sight before her.

Bodies were scattered everywhere in the waist-high tangled grass. Fresh blood dyed the ground red.

Her gaze fell upon the body of a middle-aged man in a snow-colored robe. Bing Ruolan's eyes widened in shock.

"Elder Feng!"

Luo Feng glanced at the body briefly and asked, "You know him?"

"Yes."

Bing Ruolan nodded. "He was an Elder from the Floating Snow School. I've met him once. He was an early-stage Heavenly Court Realm expert and held a very high position in the Floating Snow School. How did he die here..."

Luo Feng walked over to another corpse and picked up a blood-red token from the ground. After a brief glance, he tossed it to Bing Ruolan. "Take a look at this."

Bing Ruolan caught the token.

The palm-sized token was entirely blood-red. The crimson inscriptions in its center resembled burning blood and radiated an ominous, demonic qi.

"Blood Flame Command Token! Blood Demon Sect!" Bing Ruolan gasped.

Luo Feng nodded. "It seems these Floating Snow School students were attacked by Demon Sect disciples, just as we were."

Luo Feng glanced into the distance, pondered for a moment, then lightly tapped his foot on the ground. Landing behind Bing Ruolan, he said, "These people weren't killed long ago. There might still be Floating Snow School survivors up ahead. Let's go and see."

Luo Feng had connections with a few Floating Snow School students. His eldest brother, Luo Xiao, had recovered his meridians so quickly thanks to information from Hu Yidao. Naturally, upon encountering such a situation, he couldn't just stand by and do nothing.

"Luo Feng, wait. We must act according to the circumstances," Bing Ruolan cautioned, concerned Luo Feng might act impulsively.

Luo Feng nodded, chuckling. "Don't worry, I'm not so arrogant as to think I'm invincible."

Bing Ruolan said no more. She tugged the reins, and the Six-leg Demon Horse bolted forward like black lightning.

Along the way, they found more scattered corpses belonging to both Demon Sect disciples and Floating Snow School students.

Bing Ruolan, realizing the urgency, pushed her speed to the limit.

Half an incense stick's time later, Luo Feng sensed a surge of Yuan Qi a kilometer away. He reached out and grabbed the reins.

"It's just ahead."

Bing Ruolan nodded and dismounted. The Six-leg Demon Horse's movements were too conspicuous, so it had to be left behind.

After carefully hiding the Six-leg Demon Horse, they both employed their Light Martial Arts to flit forward.

"So many people! Ruolan, be careful not to be discovered." As they drew nearer, Luo Feng sensed the presences ahead. His brow furrowed—there were thirty to forty people!

Bing Ruolan nodded, concealing her own qi.

The two followed the trail of parted grass, approaching silently.

Shortly, the view before them opened up, and they arrived at the edge of a basin.

"It's the Blood Saber Guards from the Blood Demon Sect! There are so many of them! The Floating Snow School students are in danger." Bing Ruolan observed the situation in the basin, her delicate brows knit in worry.

In the basin, more than twenty Blood Saber Guards wielding blood-red sabers surrounded seventeen or eighteen individuals in snow-white robes from the Floating Snow School. A fierce battle raged, the impact of their Yuan Qi causing the valley to tremble.

On the Floating Snow School's side, everyone was injured. Several school Elders were desperately holding the line, but the Blood Saber Guards were powerful and numerous. Their situation was precarious.

Luo Feng said nothing, having already extended his spiritual sense to probe the basin.

"Three mid-stage Heavenly Court Realm martial artists, one early-stage Heavenly Court Realm martial artist, and the rest are Hell Realm experts," Luo Feng said gravely, looking at the Blood Saber Guards. "It seems they intend to annihilate everyone from the Floating Snow School."

Surprise flashed through Bing Ruolan's beautiful eyes at his words. Both sides were currently locked in a fierce battle, the surrounding Heaven and Earth Yuan Qi in turmoil. Even a Heavenly Court Realm martial artist would find it difficult to discern the combatants' cultivation levels, yet Luo Feng could see through each person's cultivation.

Shaking her head, Bing Ruolan dismissed such thoughts. Her expression turned serious as she asked, "Can we save them?"

Luo Feng deliberated for a moment, then said decisively, "Yes. Let's go. I'll handle the three mid-stage Heavenly Court Realm martial artists; you deal with the early-stage one."

As long as they didn't attack simultaneously, Luo Feng was confident he could defeat the three mid-stage Heavenly Court Realm martial artists one by one.

"Good," Bing Ruolan agreed.

"Let's move!"

Luo Feng stood up, employing his Teng Dragon's Step Light Martial Arts and darted towards the basin. Bing Ruolan followed closely. The area had a wide field of view, making a surprise attack impossible.

「In the basin.」

The Floating Snow School Elders glared with bloodshot eyes at the surrounding Blood Demon Sect disciples. Thirty-eight of them had entered the Blood Roar Plains. Now, fewer than twenty remained; their losses were devastating.

"Elder Lu, we can't go on like this! The strength of these Blood Saber Guards is too formidable. I'm afraid we won't last much longer," a Floating Snow School Elder said, repelling a Blood Saber Guard's attack and looking towards the middle-aged martial artist in their midst.

The middle-aged martial artist, Elder Lu, wielded a fine steel broadsword. He glanced back at the Floating Snow School students behind him, his face grim, and declared through gritted teeth, "These students are the future hope of our Floating Snow School! No matter the cost, we must protect them! Prepare yourselves; we'll join forces and fight our way out!"

"Alright!"

Upon hearing this, potent Evil Qi erupted from several Floating Snow School Elders, making the surrounding Blood Demon Sect disciples tremble.

"Elders, as students of the Floating Snow School, we are no cowards who fear death! These Demon Sect fiends have killed so many of our fellow students! I want them to pay in blood!"

Amidst his furious roars, a grim-faced young man stepped forward, his treasured saber a whirlwind of slashes.

"Mad Demon Saber Technique!"

SHING SHING SHING SHING SHING...

His icy saber light flashed densely, like a blizzard, wounding several Blood Demon Sect disciples who couldn't dodge in time.

The stern young man was indeed Hu Yidao. In just a few months, his Saber Technique had greatly improved, and he was now at the peak of the eighth-level Hell Realm.

The Elders looked at Hu Yidao, their eyes filled with regret. This young man possesses outstanding talent and could have had a brilliant future, bringing glory to the Floating Snow School. Alas, today, I fear...

"Braggart!"

A gaunt Blood Saber Guard stepped forward, casually unleashing several blasts of Palm Gang that completely shattered Hu Yidao's saber light. He chuckled derisively, "I've long heard that the people of the Floating Snow School are a bunch of idiots. Seems it's true. Even now, you dare to be defiant!"

Elder Lu's eyes nearly popped from their sockets in fury, his voice laced with killing intent as he said, "What skill is there in winning through superior numbers? Do you dare fight me one-on-one? If I lose, we will all be at your mercy! If you lose, take your men and leave immediately. What do you say?"

The situation was dire. Elder Lu's only hope was to provoke his opponent and find an opportunity to escape.

A mocking sneer touched the gaunt Blood Saber Guard's lips. "Do you take me for an idiot? To give up such a massive advantage and fight you one-on-one? Save your breath. Today, you will all die here."

"Elder Lu, don't waste your words on him!" Hu Yidao gripped his treasured saber, glaring at the Blood Saber Guard who had stepped forward, the veins on his forehead throbbing. "So what if we die in battle today? The Headmaster and our fellow students will surely avenge us! It's better to go all out and kill to our hearts' content!"

"Senior Brother Hu is right! These Blood Demon Sect fiends want to annihilate us. Since we can't escape, let's fight them to the death and kill to our hearts' content!"

"Exactly! Kill one, and we break even; kill two, and we profit!"

Most Floating Snow School students practiced Saber Techniques and possessed resolute characters. They all stepped forward, their killing intent soaring.

Elder Lu knew in his heart that their chances of breaking out were slim. Witnessing this, tears streamed down his aged face. He brandished his broadsword and roared, "Good! Today, we shall test our blades against these Demon Sect fiends!"

The gaunt Blood Saber Guard's expression was scornful as he waved his hand. "A desperate struggle! All of you, attack! Kill them!"

SWOOSH!

Just as both sides were about to engage in a life-or-death struggle, a colossal saber light, over ten feet wide, suddenly shot out from the rear of the valley.

SLICE! SLICE! SLICE...

The saber light swept past the Blood Demon Sect disciples, gouging a massive gash over ten meters long into the mountainside beyond. This single strike instantly killed several Blood Saber Guards! They didn't even have a chance to scream.

Everyone was stunned by this sudden development and looked towards the direction from which the saber light had come.

A few hundred meters away, two figures were flitting over.

Leading the way was a young man with ten Qi Dragons swirling around him. He wielded his Fury Flame Knife, as tall as himself, which roiled with firelight. His eyes were incredibly sharp, like the gleam of a saber.

Following him was a young woman with short, light blue hair dancing in the wind. With every step, numerous afterimages trailed behind her, making it difficult to distinguish the real from the illusory. She was exquisitely beautiful and seemed otherworldly, unlike a mortal woman.

"Who are they?"

Elder Lu had initially thought reinforcements had arrived. Seeing how young the newcomers were, however, brought a wave of disappointment, mixed with curiosity.

Hu Yidao recognized the newcomers. His breath hitched, and then he burst out laughing, "Luo Feng! I heard you went to Red Maple Lead. I never thought I'd run into you here!"

Luo Feng had already drawn near. He stopped thirty paces behind the Blood Saber Guards, looked at Hu Yidao, and smiled. "I'm also quite surprised."

"Luo Feng!"

Upon seeing Luo Feng, the expressions of the dozens of Blood Saber Guards changed, as if facing a formidable enemy.

The gaunt Blood Saber Guard stepped forward and said coldly, "You're Luo Feng from the Purple Sun School?"

Luo Feng touched his nose and smiled. "I don't believe I know you."

The gaunt Blood Saber Guard's face twisted into a ferocious scowl. "You may not know me, but I certainly know you! In the Red Flame Desert, you killed many of our men, enraging Lord Blood Saber Demon General! We've been looking for you. To think you'd deliver yourself to our doorstep after we'd searched high and low!"

The watching Floating Snow School students were all rather surprised. These Blood Saber Guards actually seemed to fear Luo Feng!

The few Floating Snow School Elders, in particular, were thoroughly bewildered.

This gaunt Blood Saber Guard was a mid-stage Heavenly Court Realm expert, yet he regarded Luo Feng with such gravity.

Luo Feng's gaze was calm. He flicked the edge of his Fury Flame Knife with his fingers, then looked at the gaunt Blood Saber Guard and said gravely, "My appearance here is likely not good news for you."

"Hahaha..." The gaunt Blood Saber Guard threw his head back and laughed. "Interesting, very interesting! No one has ever dared to be so arrogant before us Blood Saber Guards. Today, we'll just send you all on your way together!"
