Chapter 155: The Importance of Presence and Reputation That's It Satisfying

Liu Yi was stunned. He stood there gazing dumbfounded at Zhang Beixing, his brain's CPU running at full speed, frantically processing what had just happened.

Zhang Beixing, seeing Liu Yi taking a while to respond, grew somewhat perplexed. He pressed, "Master, what's the matter? Why have you suddenly gone silent? Could your old injury have flared up? You can't die on me!"

Hearing this, Liu Yi snapped out of it. He looked at Zhang Beixing and finally realized—the young Grandmaster Wu Hegui had been talking about wanting to meet the entire journey was actually his own disciple?

No wonder there was such a big commotion in Shishi, yet he, Liu Yi, was totally oblivious. It was a classic case of not seeing what's right under one's nose! Everyone had assumed that he, as the master, must have known about it, so no one had bothered to inform him. But how could he have known? He had been in seclusion, oblivious to the outside world, completely unaware of recent events.

Liu Yi couldn't help but remember what Zhang Beixing had told him on the phone half a month ago. Back then, he'd thought Zhang Beixing was just bragging. Now it seemed Zhang Beixing hadn't been bullshitting at all; it was he, Liu Yi, who had been mistaken in not believing him! Many things that had previously baffled him were now explained.

Liu Yi came back to his senses. Looking at Zhang Beixing, his heart swelled with emotion, and his eyes welled up with tears. He clapped Zhang Beixing on the shoulder. "Good! Your master feels so damn good right now! All my injuries have instantly healed!"

He felt so good he could probably perform a pole dance on the spot, followed by a full Thomas Flair routine, and top it off by breaking a boulder on his chest! Liu Yi had lived for over fifty years, and this was the first time he'd ever discovered life could be this wonderful!

"PHEW! Beixing, you truly are your master's good disciple! I always said you had the makings of a Grandmaster, and you've truly made me proud!" Gripping Zhang Beixing's shoulders tightly, Liu Yi took a deep breath and spoke from the heart.

"Ah... it's alright, I suppose. Master, why don't you sit and rest for a bit? My parents aren't home yet, so we can't go inside to offer you proper hospitality."

After speaking with Liu Yi, Zhang Beixing noticed Wu Hegui, Wang Hua, and the others who had accompanied Liu Yi. They were standing frozen in place, staring dumbfounded at the two of them. They must be Liu Yi's friends, Zhang Beixing thought, and greeted them as well. "Um, are these your friends, Master? I apologize, everyone. My master hasn't been well recently, so when I saw him just now, I was solely focused on his condition and ended up neglecting you. Please forgive me."

Hearing this, Wu Hegui, still reeling from the shock, subconsciously shook his head. "N-no... it's fine... So Grandmaster Zhang is Old Liu's disciple..."

He then watched the scene of the master's warmth and disciple's respect, his expression growing increasingly strange. Wu Hegui was utterly baffled; he couldn't make heads or tails of the situation.

He had completed his training abroad just over a week ago, returning home triumphantly with the identity of a Grandmaster. Not long after his return, while passing through Northern River Province, he learned from a good friend that a prodigious talent had emerged in Great Xia: someone only twenty-one years old had already mastered the external release of Vital Energy, becoming a Grandmaster. Moreover, this person had even cultivated their marksmanship to the Great Accomplishment stage!

To others, this news might have merely been incredible, astonishing. But in the eyes of Wu Hegui, a Grandmaster himself, this matter wasn't as simple as it appeared on the surface!

The saying goes, "The master leads you to the door; cultivation is up to the individual!" This means that once the master imparts their skills to you, whether you can learn them, how much you master, and whether you become proficient all depend on your personal effort and talent. Most people, when looking at this saying, tend to focus on the latter part—"cultivation is up to the individual." They completely forget that the preceding phrase, "leads you to the door," is the most crucial part of the saying! A good master can guide you and help you develop, no matter how slow-witted you might be. Conversely, with a poor master, even if you are exceptionally talented, you'll still be fumbling in the dark. You train hard in martial arts for ages without a clue, so you go to your master for clarification. Hah! Your master is damn clueless too, and might even give you terrible advice or resort to underhanded schemes! If you want to improve, you can only rely on figuring things out yourself!

Now, Zhang Beixing had become a Grandmaster at the mere age of twenty-one. This not only demonstrated his master's excellent guidance but, more importantly, highlighted Zhang Beixing's own immense and exceptionally rare talent and comprehension. This was also why he, Wu Yougui—despite being a Grandmaster himself, just like Zhang Beixing—had taken the initiative to visit. Fundamentally, in a few decades, he would be old, while Zhang Beixing would be in his prime. It went without saying who had more potential. After all, aging Grandmasters weren't even recorded in the Great Xia Grandmaster rankings.

So now, he had met Great Xia's newest and youngest Grandmaster. He had also met this young Grandmaster's master. This should have been a very happy occasion. But...

Why do I feel so damn uncomfortable? Wu Hegui wondered, his expression turning utterly bizarre as he watched Zhang Beixing treat Liu Yi with such profound respect.

So, after all this commotion, the Grandmaster I, Wu Hegui, intended to visit is your disciple, Liu Yi? You damn well knew all along and didn't say a word! Were you just playing dumb, watching me make a fool of myself?! And on what grounds? Others might not know Liu Yi's actual skill level, but I, Wu Hegui, as your old rival, wouldn't I know? Sure, that old fox has a few tricks up his sleeve, but to say he could teach such a young Grandmaster? That's absolutely impossible!
