Chapter 998: This Is Getting Troublesome

The red, scorching blood flowed like lava, igniting intense flames wherever it passed, with waves of heat assaulting continuously. No one had ever killed a Giant Flame Beast, and no one knew its blood would have such power. This wasn't blood, it was lava. Without allowing the group much time to ponder, the middle-aged man immediately began organizing the Superpower Users to prepare defensive measures upon seeing the situation outside the city. He was indeed a skilled commander; the group of Superpower Users initially standing dumbly outside the city, at a loss, began to orderly dig a large pit under his guidance.

Digging a pit posed no challenge for Superpower Users, especially with so many of them involved. The Fire Element Superpower Users launched attacks on the ground, creating several large pits, while the Earth Element Superpower Users accelerated the process by sinking the soil deeper. Water Element Superpower Users continuously formed waves in the direction of the approaching blood. In such a scorching environment, extracting Water Energy from the air was extremely taxing for the Water Element Superpower Users to construct the defense. After just a few breaths, several Water Element Superpower Users collapsed exhausted, fortunately the Wind Element Superpower Users nearby swiftly took the tired ones back into the city.

It didn't take long for a trench ten meters long, five meters wide, and five meters deep to appear outside the city. The instant the trench was dug, the blood arrived close. Continuous hissing sounds were heard as the blood flowed into the trench, rolling constantly, spreading waves of heat; occasionally, fist-sized bubbles emerged on the surface of the Blood Pond, popping with a burst, igniting flames as thick as fingers.

The blood from severing the Giant Flame Beast's leg wasn't much, not even reaching a fifth of the pit, yet even this small amount of blood released enough heat to discomfort the Superpower Users standing nearby.

The blood ceased flowing toward Yu'an City, temporarily mitigating the crisis. However, the Giant Flame Beast lying on the ground was still persistently trying to stand up. With one leg lost, the personnel didn't fear it could rise, but having such a beast here, especially one that relentlessly unleashed flames, left them uneasy. Yet, they didn't have the courage to kill the still fiercely powerful Giant Flame Beast.

Hovering high in the air and watching the group of Superpower Users manage the lava-like blood, Shu leisurely flew back to El's side. While handling the blood, El refrained from further attacking the nearly-mad Giant Flame Beast, opting instead to watch it continuously struggle to rise from mid-air. But with one leg missing, standing again wasn't easy.

"Is it handled?" El glanced at the slowly flying Shu, asking.

Shu nodded, with a flick of his right hand, releasing slender threads around his body: "What do we do? Kill it?"

"We have no choice but to kill it. Otherwise, there'll be more trouble. And be careful of the blood spray. No one expected this beast's blood to be like volcano lava." El sighed. Though well-experienced, he had never encountered blood as hot as lava.

"That does complicate matters." Shu tilted his head, observing the Giant Flame Beast that was still roaring angrily, "How do we kill it? This thing's tough, resistant to damage."

Taking a deep breath, El swung the spear in his hand: "We'll have to give it our all. I don't believe it can withstand my full-force strike." As he spoke, El exuded a fierce Killing Intent. This aura made Shu, who hovered beside him, shiver uncontrollably.

Shu glanced at El as if looking at a monster, astonished at his intense Killing Intent. It seemed El had gained new insights from Tang Mu. He sighed, thinking about the pitch-black spear in El's hand; regretting he never asked Tang Mu for such a sharp weapon himself. Though his threads were agile, they weren't primarily lethal, lacking sharpness.

"Help me suppress this creature." After El spoke, the Wind Force around him began to surge, forming tangible waves of energy that condensed beside him.

As soon as El moved, Shu swiftly crafted an invisible web with his threads, pressing it toward the Giant Flame Beast on the ground. The web, infused with Wind Force, forcibly suppressed the golden-red flames surrounding the beast. When the web pressed the flames to within a foot above the Giant Flame Beast, it could no longer push further down; the beast ceased struggling, only glaring with its five eyes, roaring angrily.

"You must hurry. I can't hold on much longer." Shu looked at El, remarking. Indeed, he couldn't sustain it for long; the flames on the Giant Flame Beast were too intense. Shu had exhausted great effort to suppress them and immobilize the beast.

Emitting a clear whistle, El's figure abruptly blurred, swiftly followed by a flash of black light as he materialized before the Giant Flame Beast and pierced his spear. This strike bore no dazzling brilliance, was utterly ordinary, exceedingly slow, emitting neither splitting sound nor whistling sound; yet, it made one feel the universe's center converged on the spear.

El couldn't explain why he could deliver such a spear thrust; he merely followed the spear's intent. As he focused all his essence onto the spear, he realized the spear seemed animated, hence his sudden action.

One spear shockingly bold, shaking the earth. That thrust seemed space-splitting, the slow-moving spear suddenly reached the forefront of the Giant Flame Beast. A long howl emerged, the black spearhead pierced into the crack on the beast's forehead, unobstructed. Wherever the spear passed, gold-red flames parted, the Giant Flame Beast couldn't utter a single roar.

Then the spear transformed into a black light, embedding wholly into the beast's head. As for El, he transformed into a breeze, soaring skyward.

Roars, cries of agony, cries of disbelief; the Giant Flame Beast retained roars abruptly, reaching an emotive peak, shaking the heavens and earth. Gold-red flames flickered continuously, the single-legged beast rose at this moment. With head raised, it roared angrily, with gold-red flames erupting from the crack on its forehead, emitting intense heat.

Boom, sound of flames. Boom, sound of beast's footsteps. Boom, sound of gold-red flames shattering.

The flames suddenly shattered, revealing the true form of the Giant Flame Beast. It stood fiercely on the desolate land, with an expression of unwillingness and anger. Then a black light burst from the crack on its forehead, tearing through its head. A rumble emitted, the beast's head exploded open, brain and blood spraying outward.

Fire rain fell, igniting flames.

With a thunderous crash, the mountain-like body, deprived of brain command, collapsed directly. The Fierce Beast was dead, perished just like that, flames extinguished, and its neck's major artery gushed blood like lava. This blood flowed toward Yu'an City but instead entered the trench outside. Suddenly, flames arose from the pit, faintly accompanied by the roar of the Giant Flame Beast.
