Special Forces Medic

Chapter 477: Success

Through the intercom, the brother driving the car urged on this end, seeing the woman was about to escape from the boss's grip, and because of the accident, a crowd had gathered on the street that wasn't very busy. He started the car and drove onto the street.

At this moment, a dart flew from behind Lian. She dodged with a sidestep, but didn't expect the second one to seemingly know her direction and followed closely.

After a sharp pain in the neck came numbness; the dart had anesthetic liquid, and by the time she realized this, it was too late. Lian's body went soft and she collapsed to the ground.

"Where were you, you brat, moving so slow, nearly let the person escape." The boss lifted Lian from the ground and got into the sapphire blue Buick. The brother driving the car dashed away without a trace.

After venting in the woman's body with resilience, Poison Dragon withdrew, casually grabbed a few tissues to wipe his lower body, then entered the bathroom. The woman climbed down from the bed wearily, picked up her clothes from the floor and a stack of money from the table, and left the room silently.

The cell phone on the nightstand kept ringing persistently. The boss on the other end of the call was getting somewhat impatient. The woman they captured was stuffed in the trunk, yet his employer wasn't answering the call. Once the woman woke up, it would be a hassle. They couldn't leave her in the trunk indefinitely; she'd suffocate sooner or later.

"Damn it, not picking up the call."

"Boss, maybe we should take her to our warehouse for now. Leaving her here isn't an option." A police car drove by outside. In this era, there were many cowardly people who feared trouble, and also those who were bored with nothing better to do and meddled in others' business. "Maybe someone already called the police earlier, if we don't get a plan to run, we'll all get caught." The brother driving the car anxiously tapped the steering wheel.

"I've already handled the person for you, where's the money?" The person who had been sitting in the passenger seat suddenly turned around and opened his hands towards the boss in the back. "Don't pretend you don't owe me, I don't want to end up unlucky like you guys, just give me the money and I'll be on my way."

The boss glanced at Xiao Si, took out a thick wad of cash from his pocket, and handed it to him. "Unreliable guy."

"Boss, that's not right, this was always a side hustle; we each take care of our own parts. I've completed my task, naturally, I should collect my commission, right!" Xiao Si got out of the car, leaning his whole body over the hood. "Call me if you have this kind of job again, bye!"

"Call you? I'd rather call a ghost." After cursing, the cell phone rang again. "We got the person, where should we unload the goods?"

Poison Dragon hesitated for a moment at the news that they'd secured the person so quickly. Didn't the Xia Family always have people secretly protecting her? Could those few henchmen really have captured her so quickly? It seemed a bit unbelievable. "Are you sure you didn't grab the wrong person?"

Poison Dragon's doubt made the boss a bit uncomfortable, but he still patiently explained. "The woman is one hundred sixty-eight centimeters tall, has curly hair." This matched the information Poison Dragon had given him perfectly.

"Does she look like the person in the photo?" Poison Dragon pressed on, still unable to believe these few could handle a special forces soldier. "Was there any resistance during the kidnapping or any other interference?" Poison Dragon sat on the bed, naked from the waist up, lit a cigarette, and noticed the woman was gone, taking the money from his table.

Photo? The boss smacked the brother driving the car; he hadn't even seen the woman's photo. "The same person, the woman knows martial arts, didn't encounter anyone else."

"First take the person to the basement below Poison Dragon's headquarters. You know the place, right!" Poison Dragon's eyes emitted a fierce gleam; to end it where it started—this was his principle.

"But that's the Fei Feng Gang's base." Upon hearing the address, the boss felt a headache coming on.

The former Poison Dragon Gang had established a secret basement below Poison Dragon's headquarters. During the crackdown on Poison Dragon Gang, this base had been sealed off, now becoming an abandoned warehouse. At the time, the news of Poison Dragon being burned to death in the basement was rampant. Even though it had been converted into an office building, no one dared to use that basement. Chinese people are often superstitious about bad luck, and talk of ghosts and spirits is always prevalent.

"That's your own problem to figure out." Poison Dragon hung up the phone and lay on the bed. He still hadn't vented enough, this woman, ha! His hands naturally began to move downwards.

"Let's go to Fei Feng Gang." The boss leaned back helplessly on the rear seat; he knew of a shortcut to get into the basement. During that period following Poison Dragon, he had been to many places frequently, but bringing a person along would be a bit troublesome.

"Boss, are you sure you can do it?" The brother driving the car started the engine, feeling his boss might be in over his head.

"Let's check it out first; how will we know if we don't try? Otherwise, we caught this person for nothing."

The car sped towards the destination, coming to a stop in the underground parking lot of Feifeng Mansion. The driver avoided the overhead cameras and lifted the person out of the trunk, nervously glancing around, afraid a car might suddenly pass by.

"Boss, where do we go in?" The underground parking lot had been modified, and the layout was quite different from before.

"Hang on, let me find it first. You put the person back in the car." The boss circled along the pipes and stopped at an underground pipeline area, trying to lift the iron cover. It wasn't sealed shut. He waved at the driver, who then hoisted the woman onto his shoulder.

"Here it is, give me a hand." The manhole cover was heavy, and together, they pushed it aside. "You go down first, I'll cover the rear." The boss looked around, and the driver had already descended with the woman. "It's all water down here!" the driver complained, stepping into the dark water, sensing something eerie. With the woman on his shoulder, he couldn't decide whether to turn left or right.

"Of course there's water in a sewer. Go left, there will be a door ahead." The boss also crawled down, covering the manhole above their heads, which eliminated the little bit of light.

The driver lit a lighter and waded leftward about twenty or thirty meters before a door appeared on the wall. There was a ledge there, and he placed the woman on it, then climbed up himself. He tested the handle, but the door was locked from the inside. "Boss, it won't open, the door is locked from inside." The driver tried hard again, but the door didn't budge.

"Idiot, it won't open like that." The boss climbed up, half of his leg soaked. He felt along the door frame, remembering that Poison Dragon had found the key in this manner before. "Got it." In a crevice, the boss pulled out a cross-shaped key, opened the lock, and unlocked the door.

"Alright, leave the woman in this room, lock the door, and we're done." The boss glanced at the door they had entered from, while the other end had already been locked by the building's security. This passageway was like a sealed space; escaping was as hard as climbing to the sky.

The driver seemed somewhat reluctant, glancing at Lian. The woman was really beautiful. He brushed her face with his hand, the supple skin made him want more. "You can't touch this woman, go back to your own women." The boss kicked the driver, then grabbed his phone and called Poison Dragon.

"I've already delivered the person to you. When will the money be transferred?" The job was done; time to collect payment!

"Once I confirm it's the person I want, I'll transfer the money to you."

"At least pay seventy percent upfront." The boss's previous politeness disappeared upon hearing Poison Dragon's words. Poison Dragon was not someone reliable for keeping his word; waiting for him to confirm meant the money might vanish without a trace.

"Damn it, are you afraid I won't pay?" Poison Dragon jumped on the other end of the line.

"It's not about trust, just precautions. Even brothers need to let their men have food to eat, right?" The boss moved to a distant part of Huating, Poison Dragon's voice ringing in his eardrums. "I've done the job; transfer the money to my account now. If I don't see the money, I'll take the woman away."

The final words carried a tone of threat, leaving the driver puzzled about his boss's sudden change of attitude; hadn't he said not to upset Poison Dragon before?

The phone buzzed twice, signaling a message from the bank. The boss shook the phone. "OK, the key is in the usual place. Let's get out of here." After hanging up, the boss emerged from the iron door, grabbing the driver who still wanted to touch Lian. "The money's in, you can hug whoever you want tonight."

With a bang, the iron door closed, and the key was put back where it belonged.

Poison Dragon gathered his clothes from the bed, put the gun in a small black bag, and lit a cigarette with a sneer at the reflection in the mirror.

Just like that, Zhang Teng died, that peculiar weapon penetrating his chest. The woman's swift body technique left one breathless, a large hole ripped open in his chest, the blood sealed within due to the speed.

The woman, whom even Elder Guo did not dare to shout at, killed Zhang Teng in a single move and vanished, obediently accompanying the man standing in the corner.

Fatty Wang didn't even flinch, his cold indifference stinging Poison Dragon. His end wouldn't be any better than Zhang Teng's; to Fatty Wang, someone of no use was no different from a rag, easily discarded. Unlike Zhang Teng, he was not stupid; he needed to seize an opportunity before Fatty Wang turned on him, and Xiao Lin was his biggest trump card.

Xiao Lin had just finished checking Dan Qing's pulse; the recovery was indeed going well, with no further adverse reactions, making him quite happy for her. Niu Niu dutifully kept watch over her mother, practicing the breathing exercises Xiao Lin had instructed, like a strict drill instructor, allowing no slack.

Amidst the laughter, Xiao Lin answered a strange call, casting a fleeting glance at Xia Xue by his side. (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
