I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!

Chapter 154: Finding the Truth

Seeing this security guard who had saved her life she could not help but feel her heart skip a beat involuntarily. This was not supposed to happen.

Seeing that Alex was not saying anything and had simply gone to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face Meera could not help but ask "Do you know who I am?"

"No way. There is absolutely no way," Alex looked shocked while brushing his teeth. He nearly spat out the toothpaste foam.

"Can excessive alcohol consumption cause amnesia and memory loss?"

"What kind of idol drama series is this?"

Alex continued brushing his teeth while speaking in a muffled voice, foam still in his mouth.

Meera could only stare in stunned silence.

She felt furious and explained again more clearly "I mean do you not recognize me as a public figure?"

Alex looked genuinely confused. "Why should I recognize you or know who you are?"

Meera had no response to this simple question. Her mouth opened and closed but no words came out.

She was now completely certain that this security guard paid absolutely no attention to the entertainment industry whatsoever.

He genuinely did not recognize her at all! This was both refreshing and infuriating simultaneously.

Meera returned to her previous cold and indifferent demeanor.

She stated matter-of-factly "Since what happened has already occurred and cannot be undone we should forget about what happened before."

"Wait a moment," Alex interrupted while wiping his face with a towel.

"You do not want to take any responsibility for what happened yesterday do you?"

"I saved your life yesterday! Should you not show some appreciation or gratitude?"

Alex's eyes widened with genuine surprise and mild offense.

Meera was so angry that she nearly choked on her own breath.

They had both slept in the same bed together for an entire night!

Yet this security guard was still talking about whether she was being responsible?

What kind of bizarre brain circuitry did this person possess?

She was the famous celebrity Meera Singh!

Not only did this guy fail to recognize her identity but he had taken advantage of the situation! Now he was acting like an innocent victim?

Meera wanted to bite Alex in frustration. Her fists clenched at her sides as she struggled to maintain her composure.

In fact Alex had nothing to be ashamed about. Yesterday nothing had actually happened so there was absolutely no need to discuss responsibility or blame.

But Meera clearly had other ideas. Her mind was racing with worst-case scenarios and public relations disasters.

"Yesterday's incident was clearly an accident and a mistake. It was not your fault so let us just leave things like this," Meera stated firmly.

After saying this she immediately turned around to leave the apartment. She needed to get out of here before anyone saw her.

Alex called after her "Are you really okay to walk in your current condition? Do you want me to escort you somewhere?"

"That is completely unnecessary," Meera refused coldly.

Paparazzi photographers were omnipresent throughout Mumbai.

If she was photographed leaving with this man there would be scandalous rumors that would need to be addressed and dispelled immediately.

She didn't want to face another headache. She had to solve the immediate problem of Rahul first. That situation alone was going to require all her energy and attention.

Meera limped down the stairs while feeling extremely angry and frustrated. Her legs were still weak from whatever drug had been in her system.

"Are you truly okay in this physical state?" Alex called after her again.

"You really do not need me to take you anywhere?"

Alex chased after her while pushing his bicycle. He had taken a taxi the previous night and so he did not have any car available, so he picked up one of his old bicycles stored in the apartment.

Seeing Alex's modest bicycle Meera felt even more upset and irritated. "I do not need your help!"

Seriously though.

Did this security guard actually want to use that bicycle to escort her back home? The image of arriving at her luxury apartment complex on the back of a rusty bicycle was absurd.

"Oh well then," Alex said simply.

Since the other party had refused his assistance Alex did not force the issue any further and left her gawking on the streets. He mounted his bicycle and pedaled away without looking back.

If stares could kill people, Alex might have been as good as dead. Meera watched him disappear around the corner with a mixture of frustration and something she refused to acknowledge.

**Afternoon at Lotus Crown Villa**

In the afternoon Alex returned to his luxurious Lotus Crown Villa.

He lay on the expensive sofa feeling bored. He played with his phone while occasionally thinking about Meera. Her angry expression kept popping into his mind.

He had to admit the truth.

This type of temperament and personality was genuinely rare to encounter.

Especially her expression when she had stamped her feet in anger had been quite memorable. There was something endearing about it despite her obvious superiority complex.

At this moment a short video news clip suddenly appeared on his phone screen while scrolling through YouTube shorts.

"At twelve-thirty noon today the celebrity Meera who had been out of contact for one full day suddenly issued an official announcement through her studio.

Sunny, the assistant of famous actress Meera Singh from the studio was suspected of committing serious crimes and has been transferred this afternoon to the police for investigation.

After police investigation Sunny had abused her position of trust to embezzle nearly twenty-two million dollars. The case remains under active investigation..."

Then Alex examined the photograph displayed on the screen.

He discovered that the person in the photo looked extremely similar to the woman from last night. In fact, it was identical.

Damn it!

Why had he been so completely blind to obvious facts?

Otherwise how could he not recognize that the woman he had rescued last night was actually this actress? He felt like an idiot.

She was actually a famous celebrity?

Alex was someone who did not follow celebrity culture at all.

He did not chase after stars or watch entertainment variety shows. He knew absolutely nothing about the recently popular celebrity named Meera. His interests lay elsewhere entirely.
