Cultivating Through The Game

Chapter 196: Invaders of the World (Two-in-One)

"Anyone there?" The demon man scanned the area twice but found no other figures. He looked at the white-haired old man with a displeased expression.

"Old man, where is the person you're talking about?"

The old man came out leaning on his cane, and the pear wood walking stick in his hand lightly flicked a half-brick on the ground, sending it flying at high speed to where Lu Yu was.

The demon man and Zheng Zhe's gaze followed the flying brick, seeing it stop abruptly in mid-air as if it hit something, then dropped to the ground.

The brick was blocked by the mysterious energy surrounding Lu Yu's body and did not touch him. Sensing that all the demon hunters in the area were gathered in the surrounding factories, Lu Yu withdrew the spiritual power barrier around him.

Lu Yu's figure suddenly appeared in mid-air, causing the pupils of the demon man and Zheng Zhe to constrict sharply; the demon man showed a look of shock. How could a human possibly fly?

Noticing that Lu Yu's eyes were different from his own, the demon man dismissed the thought that Lu Yu was a demon hunter with special abilities.

All demon hunters share one common feature: their eyes are entirely black.

Though entirely black, there is an inner and outer distinction, the inside being slightly darker is the pupil.

The demon man looked at Zheng Zhe and asked, "Is he the human with formidable power that you mentioned?"

Before Zheng Zhe could answer, the demon man saw Lu Yu descend from mid-air.

After discovering the gathering place of these demon hunters, Lu Yu contacted Fei Yuqing to inform him of the location. Fei Yuqing instructed him to capture them alive if possible, and he would bring reinforcements to surround the place immediately.

"Capture them alive?" Lu Yu looked at Zheng Zhe and, without any movement from Lu Yu, frost began to form on Zheng Zhe's body, and within two seconds, both Zheng Zhe and Fan Long had turned into ice sculptures.

Lu Yu did not kill him but just froze his body to restrict his movement abilities.

Zheng Zhe's eyes rolled around, struggling to move, but his body felt as if it was sealed in cement, completely immobile.

The demonic heart inside him became significantly less active, weakening the power.

The demon man, seeing Lu Yu freeze Zheng Zhe into a block of ice without any apparent action, was appalled but not deterred.

With an immortal body and no sense of pain, demon hunters never feared getting hurt, yet the demon man did not act recklessly.

He could not ascertain Lu Yu's strength, but he sensed immense danger emanating from Lu Yu. The demon man shouted to the white-haired old man, "Call them out to attack him together."

The white-haired old man thumped his pear wood walking stick onto the ground, sending out a peculiar wave, awakening the sleeping demon hunters inside the factories. They emerged from their slumber to surround Lu Yu.

Figures stepped out of the shadows, and a demon hunter with entirely red skin glared at the white-haired old man with displeasure, shouting, "Why call me up when it's not even dark yet? I'd burn your beard if I could!"

"Chi Yan, don't be so impulsive. Look over there," the white-haired old man gestured towards Lu Yu.

Chi Yan felt the heat emanating from Lu Yu, his heart ablaze, but upon noticing Lu Yu wasn't a demon hunter, he then showed disappointment in his eyes.

Lu Yu wasn't a demon hunter, so he couldn't devour Lu Yu's heart to gain his power.

As the surrounding demon hunters gathered closer, Lu Yu was happy to have them attack him all at once, saving him the trouble of seeking them out one by one.

The demon man did not think likewise; his tone odd as he said, "We can turn him into a demon hunter, then we can gain his powers."

Chi Yan's eyes lit up, excitedly exclaiming, "Great idea!"

"I want one-third of his heart," the demon man said, licking his lips.

Currently, Lu Yu displayed three abilities: flame, ice, and flight. Getting one-third of his heart meant a one-third chance of acquiring one power, which excited the demon man.

As for the two demon hunters turned into ice statues by Lu Yu, the demon man paid them no mind; they were just two level-two demon hunters he could easily kill.

The only thing unnerving was that he didn't see how Lu Yu froze them, fearing a sneak attack.

The white-haired old man paused with his pear wood walking stick, releasing waves of invisible ripples. The demon hunters around struggled briefly before quieting down, losing the light of self-awareness in their eyes.

"Attack, tear him to pieces," commanded the white-haired old man, manipulating all demon hunters level-3 and below to attack Lu Yu.

Chi Yan and the demon man felt a chill seeing other demon hunters being manipulated. Thankfully, they were level-4 demon hunters, able to resist the old man's psychic control, or they'd become his puppets too.

Feeling the spiritual power emanating from the white-haired old man, Lu Yu's eyebrows twitched slightly, surprised to encounter a demon hunter capable of using spiritual power.

He could break the white-haired old man's control at any time, but he did not do so.

Watching the attacking demon hunters, the coldness on Lu Yu intensified, releasing dark ice energy outside, forming a frost ring that rapidly expanded under the push of spiritual power.

Whoosh~ As the cold hit like a wave, the demon hunters charging towards Lu Yu moved slower and slower, eventually freezing in place as ice sculptures, maintaining their final charging poses.

The demon man, Chi Yan, and the white-haired old man were all filled with disbelief. The demon man awkwardly swallowed and stammered, "H-human, how... possible... to have such power!"

"A psychic?" Chi Yan's mind was full of doubt. Could there really be psychics in this world?
