Running A Cemetery in North America

Chapter 180: Entry Eight Hundred Miles Divine Walk

The great hall fell into a brief silence.

Master Sangji finally sighed with relief: "I never thought that, nowadays in Tibet, there could still be someone like you. It's been too long since anyone dared to resist those things once they appeared and became legends.

When submission becomes the trend, people's hearts will only grow more cowardly, blindly worshipping those spirits and deities. Since you have this ambition, let me assist you."

Master Sangji reached into the cabinet to take out a pair of scissors and motioned for Damian Dorje to approach.

He cut a lock of Dorje's hair, tied it with a red string, and handed it to Sun Yan.

"Take this to the outside of the Vajra Temple, and you can attract the Suffering Bodhisattva. To defeat her, you must rely on the power of the Divine Spirit. This is for you; I hope it will aid you."

Master Sangji then took a square jade token from his bosom and handed it to Sun Yan.

On the surface of the Thangka Jade Token were two extremely sinister and terrifying skeletal figures, with entire white bodies. With one face and two arms, the right hand held high a human skull club, and the left hand supported a skull cup filled with fresh blood, posing on conch shells and shells on lotus sun and moon wheel mats.

"Is this... the Corpse Forest Lord?" Sun Yan asked in surprise.

Master Sangji nodded: "Exactly."

Regarding the Corpse Forest Lord, Sun Yan had some understanding; also known as the Lord of Corpse Forest or Tomb Master.

He is the unique Dharma Protector of Shengle and Dakini. In many Dharma protector Thangkas of Tibet, the Corpse Forest Guardian image can be seen.

The skeletal body of the Corpse Forest Lord symbolizes emptiness; the human skull club signifies the destruction of the wrathful mind; the skull cup filled with blood symbolizes drinking the blood of demonic enemies; the five-skull head ornament symbolizes the achievement of all attainments, ever-changing, and together with his retinues, supports the Buddhist teachings.

In the Vajrayana texts, it's said that the overpowering sound of "Om" by the mighty subdued conqueror of the Three Realms, Heyagriva Shengle, stupefied all living beings in the world.

As beings awoke, they saw the manifestation of the Corpse Forest Lord couple. The Corpse Forest Lord couple resided in Skull Mountain, where there was a Human Skull City formed in four directions, with the Corpse Forest Skull Palace and the Lotus Sun Wheel Seat, upon which stood the Corpse Forest Lord couple.

In the secret teachings edited by the practice of the Corpse Forest Lord, it is said that practicing the path of the Corpse Forest Lord can increase wealth, bring about blessings and longevity, eliminate great calamities, and ensure smooth reincarnation after death. Practitioners can achieve conditions favorable for Buddhahood, protect accomplishments, and specifically provide special blessings against enemies and thieves, and counter some ominous signs from cemeteries.

Don't be deterred by the Corpse Forest Lord's frightening appearance; he is indeed a proper Dharma Protector deity.

Sun Yan had only seen images related to the Corpse Forest Lord in the "Mountain Chasing Manual" left by his grandfather, and now he could directly encounter the genuine artifact.

"Jackson, I'll go with you. I was the one who attracted the Suffering Bodhisattva, and I can't let you deal with it alone."

At this moment, Damian Dorje immediately stood up and firmly said.

"Your strength is too weak to be of any help to me. It would only hamper my performance. Just stay safe inside the Vajra Temple, with Master Sangji watching over you, it will be safer."

Sun Yan straightforwardly refused. From any perspective, Damian Dorje was just an ordinary person, unable to provide any help, just a burden.

"There is a Mani Heap outside the Vajra Temple; you wait there. With Dorje's hair, you might attract the Suffering Bodhisattva. May the Buddha bless you."

"Thank you."

Sun Yan carefully put away the Thangka Jade Token, then walked out of the great hall towards the gates of the Vajra Temple.

No matter the strength of the Suffering Bodhisattva, it's time to face the real challenge.

...

The snowy mountains at night appeared even more eerie. Sun Yan sat beside the Mani Heap, draped in a red blanket, quietly waiting.

Mani Heap, also known as "Do Bang," means piled-up stones.

There are two types of Do Bang: those for averting misfortune and calamity, and for warding off evil. They carry the meaning of blessing, and in various mountain ranges, crossroads, lakesides, and riverbanks across Tibet, one can almost always see heaps made of rocks and stone slabs, carved with six-syllable true words, wisdom eyes, divine statue images, and various auspicious patterns.

Mani Heaps carry significant meaning in Tibet, and this is why Master Sangji asked Sun Yan to wait by one.

Perhaps he could better counter the Suffering Bodhisattva by relying on the aspirations contained within the Mani Heap.

The snow was falling heavily, and Sun Yan's eyebrows were covered in snowflakes, turning into two white lines.

Fortunately, the blanket covering him was made of yak fur, providing ample warmth so that he wouldn't freeze to death in the snow.

But even with a Martial Arts Physique, Sun Yan was ultimately human, unable to endure for too long a period.

If the Suffering Bodhisattva did not appear soon, he would indeed have to return to the Vajra Temple to wait for the next opportunity.

Goo! Goo! Goo! Goo!

At this moment, a strange sound suddenly echoed between the heavens and the earth, as if countless owls were wailing.

Sun Yan's eyes instantly became vigilant. This commotion... the Suffering Guanyin has appeared!

A shadow floated over from the distance, her body like a plastic bag drifting on the wind, rootless as duckweed.

In just a few breaths, she drew closer, heading directly for Sun Yan's location, clearly following Damian Dorje's trace.

According to Master Sangji, wherever the Suffering Guanyin goes, all life ceases, leaving a landscape of corpses, and those lucky enough to survive begin a process of rebirth.
