With a distinct feeling of being hard done by, Feng Yi shot a glance at the boy who had just kicked him while he was leaving, and then turned back with a rueful, wronged sort of glance that instantly sent the boy's girlfriend into fits of giggles...
Ever since he boarded the mecha, Feng Yi had assumed a new identity - Li Xiang, a male with a soft spot for females, born in Maraca Freedom Port.
He has no particular skills - his specialty is refurbishing traditional mecha installations. His IQ ranges between 55 and 160, which explains the upper limit of his IQ improvement. Don't let his plain looks and slow wits fool you - his reflexes can peak at almost 3rd level of 120 cards.
He has a dual-personality. Normally timid and afraid, he's among the lowest rung in society. He doesn't stand out on the street and doesn't attract girls' attention. But he can be ruthlessly determined when pushed to his limit and unexpectedly explosive too. He holds a certain pride and defiance in his Mecha transformation skills and doesn't let anyone question it.
He has plenty of weaknesses, like pretty women and gambling, among others... He has always had a soft spot for Zi Wei. They were schoolmates in Maraca Freedom Port, but as a goddess, Zi Wei didn't recognize this lower class guy. Nevertheless, he harbored a secret infatuation for her. In order to catch up to her, he worked hard and made great achievements in the field of Mecha, but in fact, he was even more adept in human biology. As a lower-class slob, if he didn't learn a skill or two, he might as well be dead.
The Federation doesn't have direct shuttles to Saudi, so his only choice was to start from the Maraca Freedom Port and make a second hyperjump at the Bermuda Dragon Gate space station. It's a long and far-reaching interstellar journey, but Li Xiang was prepared to do anything for love.
The White Pig slowly rose into the sky, accelerated, and disappeared...
Under the balancing effects of high gravity, the passengers didn't feel any discomfort from the speeding shuttle. It took three days at near-light speed before the shuttle could switch to warp flight.
When he once again set foot on Maraca Freedom Port, Li Xiang didn't stop. He didn't even think to stay a bit longer at Triangular Star. He couldn't find a shuttle going to Saudi, and in desperation, Li Xiang had a sudden idea. He decided to ask the Bounty Tribe for help.
But before he reached the stairs, he was driven away by an impatient-looking novice bounty hunter, who said only Bounty Tribe advanced members were allowed on the upper floor. Even he himself wasn't qualified.
A trespass like this could result in immediate arrest, but the bounty hunter decided to let him off with a warning as he didn't wish to put him through so much trouble and potentially create bigger issues. After all, that's where authorities like Mary and Francis occasionally showed up and no one can handle such a mess.
At this point, Li Xiang was simply taken aback. After scratching his head contemplatively, he had no choice but to queue up.
In fact, Feng Yi just wanted to see his friend and Sheng Qiangwei, but he couldn't risk messing things up for the mission, a strict order from the Military Department.
Fortunately, the Bounty Tribe was efficient. Despite the hundreds of people, it only took a few minutes before it was his turn.
Finding people or doing manual labor as a guide were usual tasks given by the Bounty Tribe, who would have thought of asking for a flight schedule? Why not ask at the spaceport or find a master? This was totally out of place.
The pretty information lady explained that the request was out of their service range. They weren't aware of any flight schedules either. As it was an E-class request, she suggested sharing it on Sky Network, assuring him that someone will respond shortly.
"I don't care, I want an explanation." He grumbled on and on as if he was clueless about the situation...
"What a fool!" Seeing his clueless face, the pretty information lady could only roll her eyes. But, upholding her professional principles, she relayed his unique request to her higher-ups.
In no time, a burly man with a beard approached him with an unpleasant expression.
"What... what do you want?" Li Xiang quickly scanned around, bracing himself.
"I'm here to answer you, let's go."
After uttering these words, the man grabbed Li Xiang by the ear and took him outside. "Kid, the Federal International Spaceport doesn't have what you're looking for. Try going to Bermuda from the One Spike Star Spaceport. Just a heads up, the shuttles on the inside are cheaper."
Excited, Li Xiang nodded his head vigorously and run off...
"Hey!" Seeing Li Xiang's retreating figure, the burly man suddenly called out but to no avail. A strange regret filled his heart. Sure, the shuttles were cheaper on the inside but there's truth in the saying you get what you pay for. That place was notorious for its lawlessness, rampant overcharging, and even straight-out robbery. This clueless guy was a sitting duck, bound to be taken advantage of. "Ah well, it's his own fault."
So Li Xiang, in his confusion, clumsily ran off to his destination, fumbling and stumbling along the way. He made his way to the inside of the One Spike Star, a passenger departure area, under the watchful gaze of countless strange eyes.
The number of passengers here could be described as few. Most of them were carrying suitcases and were accompanied by bodyguards, giving the impression of black market traders. Even the female passengers appeared intimidating and fierce.
"Hey, looks like we have a plump sheep here." a worker lounging near the platform whispered to his companion, "So, should we rope him in?"
Without waiting for a response, his older companion had already approached Feng Yi, asking enthusiastically, "Young man, going on a long journey?"
"Yes." Li Xiang replied with deadpan eyes.
"Come with us. Our shuttle is small, but it's the cheapest in the neighborhood."
Upon hearing this, Li Xiang put on an act, "Brother, give me a fair price."
"Heh, just 18 free tons, and it can take you anywhere." With that, the two of them half dragged, half walked over to their shuttle.
"Are you sure you won't regret it once you're up there?" A pleasant voice echoed out in the distance. Bellis thought to herself, what a fool, who gets in without asking anything?
"Miss Bellis, you may have a big ship but it's not right to steal customers in front of us," the middle-aged man fired back, holding onto his grudge.
Bellis didn't even look at him, "Our shuttle may be expensive, but at least we guarantee passenger safety." Said and done, she stretched lazily, turned around, and walked back into her shuttle without another word.
