Chapter 583: The Third Trial
<Zafira Sutekh: Yep, though I can’t say it’s going so well for me…>
<Lilith Sutekh: Then you suck, because I already have 1% mastery in the Law of Time.> ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ novel fire.net
<Zafira Sutekh: Hm? Well, I have 5%. I’m just saying it’s nothing special…>
Rael sighed at their conversation. Some time down the line, it had turned from a greeting into a competition between these two women.
Of course, watching them bicker was pretty funny, so he allowed it.
However, the trial was only minutes away from starting, so he didn’t have much time left to talk to them.
But even so, he would make the most out of the last few minutes.
<Rael Sutekh: You two are following my advice though, right? Expanding your Time Domains is the most important part.>
<Lilith Sutekh: Unlike a certain somebody, we can’t control mana as easily. You said what, send the mana into the brain and hope for the best? No. Doing that would turn my brain into mush.>
<Zafira Sutekh: Same.>
Oh right… What was it again, mana pathways? Rael recalled. Vatyra mentioned something like that, but I mean, the two are surrounded by powerful people. I’m surprised they’re not getting guidance.
Or maybe…
<Rael Sutekh: You two did ask for help from the women around you, right?>
For a few seconds, there was only silence. Noticing that no one was going to reply any time soon, he let out a sigh.
<Rael Sutekh: Don’t be idiots and ask for help. The more pissy about it you are, the more danger you’ll be in. Have your girlie fight after you’re strong enough. At 10% Law of Time mastery, you’ll be able to turn back time by 24 hours. That’s what I want you both to work on. Now, ladies, this handsome fella is going to go into a maze and hopefully come out. See you later.>
The notifications of their replies popped up, and from the speed, they were either pissed at him or at each other. Either way, he really hoped they would take his words to heart.
Nonetheless, with everything settled for the time being, Rael quickly hopped into the Prophetical Realm and glanced into the future. As expected, the future he could see was even more limited now.
Before, the fourth trial was only partially covered. Now, he could only see the start of it.
Hmm… The smart thing would be to get my ass out of here, but that’s not really smart. If Solenne wants to find me, she will. Though, there is one thing I can do.
<Rael Sutekh: One more thing before I go. Lilith, can you tell Vatyra to get in contact with Kareth? If that’s not possible, can you tell her to contact Evelyn instead? She always replies, so she might have a clue as to where he went.>
<Lilith Sutekh: Sure…? You owe me a date then.>
He raised his brow at the message and closed the chatroom again. Just in time, he felt a soothing sensation wash over his body, and then his vision shifted.
Rael had been teleported elsewhere, and this elsewhere just so happened to be the inside of a giant maze. Its walls were at least 10 meters apart from one another, giving him quite a lot of space. Furthermore, the walls went so high, he couldn’t see the very top.
Notably, when he tried to fly up, whether with wings or mana, he felt something blocking him. He also gave directly climbing it a shot, which worked for the first 100 meters, but after that, the wall became slippery, sending him back down to the ground.
He didn’t fuss about it for too long, though, as he knew that this wall was a part of the trial.
And speaking of, the notification arrived right on time.
<The Third Trial>
<Description: You have been transported into the Maze of Beginnings. It is a maze known for its complexity and size, with its radius akin to five galaxies stacked side by side. There are ten exits in the Maze of Beginnings, and the only thing you can rely on is luck.>
<Objective: Find the exit of the Maze of Beginnings within 72 hours.>
<Current progress: Incomplete / 72 hours remaining>
Truthfully, I already know where the exit is. But is it really worth going toward it right away? Technically, if I do, I can get to the fourth trial faster and maybe avoid disaster.
But if he did that, then what stopped Lucien from passing this trial? His mother most definitely told him the location of the exit, so it would just be a waste of a perfect opportunity to make Lucien fail.
Well, it won’t hurt to try, but first things first… Let me map this bad boy out.
Rael closed his eyes and quickly spread out his Time Domain. Since he could control it in sections now, he could freely manipulate which areas his Domain took over.
And of course, if he only made it so his Time Domain took over the open area while excluding the wall, he got a nice little 60-million-meter radius mapped out in an instant.
Thankfully, Lucien wasn’t too far. He was only 33 million meters away, and with Rael’s current speed being 222 times faster than light, he could get there very, very fast.
So, after taking a quick breath, Rael kicked off the ground as his surroundings faded into nothingness. It was still very hard to get used to such speed since aside from locking onto people who had mana, he wasn’t sure how to control it.
But since he locked onto Lucien’s mana, he arrived there in less than a second, stopping Lucien in his tracks.
“Hi there.” Rael smiled. “Heading toward the exit?”
Lucien frowned.
“What you’re doing isn’t smart. You’re simply extinguishing your odds of survival by wasting my time.”
“Oh? Are you talking about Solenne?” Rael mused, and to his surprise, Lucien’s heart rate momentarily spiked.
“So you do know what’s going to happen. That makes things a little simpler then,” Rael added, and with a magnanimous expression, he cracked his knuckles and approached Lucien.
“Why don’t you give me a nice little rundown on what kind of stupid plan you two cooked up, hm?”
