Chapter 233 - 017: Angry Dragon Flame and Rules

Chapter 233: 017: Angry Dragon Flame and Rules

It all happened in the blink of an eye; Lilith didn’t even see clearly what had occurred.

By the time she regained her senses, the bandits in the forest had all fallen to the ground, their bodies charred black like coal.

Lilith could hardly believe what she was witnessing.

Is this… a miracle?

Have the gods… truly manifested?

Unable to dwell on these thoughts, she hastily pulled at her tattered dress and then helped Harak up, cradling him in her arms.

“Harak!”

“Harak, wake up!”

“Harak, we survived! The bandits are dead!”

“Wake up, please… sob…”

She called Harak’s name over and over again, but the young knight in her arms remained unresponsive.

Tears finally flowed uncontrollably, dripping down onto the young knight’s face.

“I admit my mistakes.”

“I won’t dare anymore. I swear, from now on, I’ll stay in the estate, work on embroidery, and learn how to manage it. I’ll stop dreaming about nonsense ever again.”

“Please, come back to life. Have mercy, I beg you.”

She collapsed on Harak’s body, crying hysterically, completely overwhelmed.

At that same moment, a hand suddenly cupped her face, gently stroking it.

Lilith sharply raised her head.

She saw Harak, who had been lying motionless, suddenly open his eyes. He was now wearing a faint smile as he looked at her.

He said, “You’re going to crush me.”

“Ah!”

Startled, Lilith hurriedly straightened herself. “Sorry!”

After a pause, overwhelming joy surged through her entire being. “Harak? Is it really you?”

“Oh, heavens! You’re alive!”

“No, I mean… are you okay? Are you feeling better?”

“Hold on, I’ll go find a doctor.”

Harak sighed helplessly and said, “It’s fine. Actually… I thought I was about to die, but I just felt a strange force flooding into my body…”

“I don’t know why, but it seems like I’m alright now.”

He moved a little and confirmed there was nothing seriously wrong. Though he still had many wounds, they turned out to be mere surface injuries. Even the arrow that had struck his chest earlier… only missed hitting vital organs?

He stood up and said, “Let’s leave this place quickly. So, where are you planning to go? No matter where it is, I’ll still protect you.”

Lilith retorted, “Protect? My foot!”

She then sighed deeply, gazing in the direction of the Putan Kingdom. “I just want to go home now.”

After browsing through Lorent, Lynch temporarily ended his journey among the Seven Kingdoms. Firstly, his mood had been soured by the influence of a Wizard from the Truth Church, leaving him little desire to continue wandering aimlessly.

Luckily, Avery had sent him a letter, inviting him back for a meal, so Lynch decided to put a pause on his travels and return to the Shadow Tower.

Shadow Land, the large estate, bedroom.

The bed rocked, the floor trembled, and the mingling of feminine moans and masculine grunts echoed endlessly, as the room was steeped in an air of passionate intimacy.

Reunions make the heart grow fonder.

Ever since they moved in together, Lynch and Avery weren’t much different from other couples—they indulged in their desires as routinely as eating or sleeping. Whenever there was free time, they clung to each other, expressing their boundless affection.

Having been apart for a few months counted as a relatively long gap, so naturally it had built up between the two of them.

After hours of continuous intimacy, and several rounds, they finally reached a temporary halt.

Lynch lay on the bed, radiating heat from his body, while Avery lay draped over his chest, her face flushed with an enduring rosy hue.

After resting for a while, Avery remarked with a bit of complaint, “You sure seemed to have enjoyed yourself. If I didn’t come to call you, wouldn’t you have stayed out even longer?”

Lynch replied, “Well, since you weren’t around, I didn’t see much point in hanging around by myself.”

For some reason, Avery had been extremely busy lately, occupied with family matters. Otherwise, Lynch had originally planned to invite her to join him on this trip.

Avery said, “It’s not like I had a choice; the family has had a lot to deal with recently.”

“Alright, let me show you what I was working on.”

With that, she rose from the bed and straddled Lynch. With a motion of her right hand, her Space Ring flashed briefly, and a book appeared in her grasp.

She handed the book to Lynch. “Take a look. I had to go through a lot of trouble to get this for you.”

Lynch paused in surprise.

He adjusted her body slightly so that she was seated on his lap, then sat upright and opened the book she’d given him to take a closer look.

Title: *Angry Dragon Flame*

It was clearly a…

Lynch said, puzzled, “A Deep Meditation Method?”

Indeed, the *Angry Dragon Flame* was a Deep Meditation Method, and one of reasonably high rank—it belonged to the Second Rank Mid-level tier.

It must be noted that within the Ancient Ruins, the most advanced Meditation Rules only reached the Third Ring. Second Rank Meditation Rules were considered highly valuable resources, controlled by a select number of organizations and families throughout the region.

Lynch asked curiously, “You got this for me?”

When an apprentice advances to the Wizard Level, acquiring the next tier of Meditation Rules requires submitting an application to the Tower. Lynch had filed a report to the Tower right after his promotion to Wizard, yet his Meditation Rules approval had yet to be processed.

Avery rolled her eyes. “What do you think I’ve been so busy with this whole time?”

Lynch pulled her into his embrace and kissed her.

Though Lynch already had Wizard Somda’s *Time Wheel*, which rendered his need for Meditation Rules less urgent, the fact that Avery had gone to such lengths to obtain this for him moved him deeply.

In the Ancient Ruins, Deep Meditation Rules were strictly regulated by a complex and extensive set of control measures that governed everyone in the Witch Domain.

These rules ensured that Deep Meditation Methods rarely leaked out. Without official approval, even apprentices who advanced to the Wizard Level couldn’t access Deep Meditation Methods to begin their next stage of cultivation.

Given that the Tower hadn’t approved his application yet, Avery had managed to secure a coveted Meditation Method for him outside the normal channels. Such an accomplishment must have been exceedingly difficult.

Lynch frowned and asked, “Are you sure this won’t be a problem?”

Though Avery came from a distinguished family, tampering with the rules surrounding Deep Meditation Methods touched upon the collective interests of the Ancient Ruins’ ruling class. Lynch couldn’t fathom the cost she might incur for doing so, but it was certainly no small matter.

For a fleeting moment, an unnatural expression flashed across Avery’s face. She shook her head and said, “…It’s fine. Everything’s already been sorted.”

Lynch didn’t think much of it and continued, “By the way, what’s going on with my Meditation Method? It’s been months since I advanced to Wizard, and I haven’t heard anything back yet. What’s the Tower doing?”

“Well…”

Avery hesitated for a moment before saying, “There’s still one crucial requirement in your approval process that you haven’t fulfilled.”

Lynch was taken aback. “What?”

He considered himself a model citizen who had diligently followed every rule over the years—on the rare occasion he broke any, he made sure no one ever found out. He was the very definition of a good boy.

So what could he possibly be missing?

Avery’s expression turned peculiar as she looked at Lynch and said, “You truly don’t know?”

Lynch frowned in confusion, looking back at her.

Avery shook her head. “Alright.”

After a pause, she softly uttered a single word: “Marriage alliance.”
