Chapter 227: 011: You won! My friend!
After officially beginning meditation, Lynch also started learning his first Wizard-level spell.
Wizard-level spells are entirely different from Apprentice-level spells.
Apprentice-level spells rely on scattered applications of extensive foundational knowledge; a single formula might form a spell, while an arrangement could become the core of a model.
Wizard-level spells, however, consolidate and summarize that vast foundational knowledge, forming a complete and comprehensive magic system.
The spell models constructed upon such complete systems are referred to as Ring Models or Ring Magic.
The tiers of Ring Magic correspond to the Wizard’s tiers, ranging from the First to Fifth Ring, with each ring representing a distinct level of power.
Lynch’s first Ring Magic spell is named “Time Suspension,” a spell left to him by Wizard Somda.
This spell is different from other Ring Models; it is built upon the “Time Wheel,” a set of Meditation Rules. The knowledge and principles within this spell are deeply interconnected with the Time Wheel, forming a complementary relationship between the two.
Spells created based on a Wizard’s Meditation Skill are known as “Lifebound Magic” or “Core Magic.”
The greatest characteristic of such spells lies in their immense growth potential.
Once a spell model is completed, its functionality, power, and the energy it can utilize become fixed. While there may be some deviations, they are negligible.
For example, Lynch’s current Apprentice-level spells display little difference in power compared to when he previously cast them, as the energy input and output of a spell model are fixed from the outset.
But Lifebound Magic is entirely different.
These spells strengthen as the Wizard deepens their meditation and enhances their abilities—a spell initially based on the First Ring model will naturally evolve into a Second Ring mystical technique upon the Wizard’s ascension to the Second Ring, and so on.
Thus, Lifebound Magic often becomes the Wizard’s most important spell, their undisputed trump card, and the focus of their studies.
Returning to the spell itself:
Time Suspension, as its name suggests, has the ability to suspend time.
It sounds potent, and indeed, this spell is robust. It is a product built upon the principles of time rules. Once mastered, it can unfold a domain within which the rules of time are altered, suspending time inside the domain.
Currently, due to Lynch’s limited strength and the low level of the Time Wheel, this spell’s effectiveness remains fairly modest, with limited power.
The maximum domain range of the spell is only a few dozen meters, and the energy units it can control barely reach 100.
Since advancing to Wizard, Lynch’s spiritual power has experienced an earth-shattering increase.
Spirit: 102.3.
The growth is several times over.
With 100 units of spiritual power, the spell can output 100 units of energy, which means its energy conversion rate is practically zero.
It’s worth noting that even standard Apprentice-level spells have an energy conversion rate of about 1.1 or 1.2. Some High-level Apprentice Magic that Lynch mastered exhibits conversion rates over 2.
In terms of energy conversion rate alone, Lynch’s Ring Magic spell is even inferior to ordinary Apprentice-level spells, its only advantage being the broader range of energy it can mobilize compared to Apprentice-level spells limited to a few dozen units.
However, this is not concerning—it’s primarily due to the Time Wheel’s current low level. Once the level of the Time Wheel increases, the spell’s abilities will naturally improve.
From Wizard Somda’s description of the spell, its potential for expansion is extraordinarily high. In the future, as its domain unfolds, it will be capable of suspending time across a town, a forest, or even an entire kingdom… and these are not even the spell’s limits.
In conclusion, the upper bounds of this spell are immensely high. How far it can ultimately reach depends largely on Lynch himself.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step; there’s no rush.
[Time Suspension] Skill Level +16.

…
A few days later, in the Tulip Domain, Flower City.
After leaving Frost Cold Town, Lynch naturally made his way to the Tulip Domain.
In the human world, Lynch didn’t have many friends—essentially only Jamie. The differing dimensions of their lives meant the time they spent together was limited; thus, within this brief lifespan, he prioritized meeting him whenever possible.
He also used the opportunity to establish a temporal reference point for himself.
At this moment, in Flower City’s training ground:
“Clang!”
“Clang!”
Crisp sounds of metal clashing rang out continuously across the square, as two Cross Swords fiercely collided at its center. Two figures clashed in a heated duel.
One was Jamie Stock, the Kingdom’s formidable Knight of Blood-colored Flower, while the other was an unassuming young man.
It should have been a one-sided battle given the disparity in their strength, yet the duel unfolded in a balanced back-and-forth, with the young man even appearing to hold a subtle advantage.
Over the years, Lynch had never slacked in his Knight training. However, Knight training, which requires physical exertion, could not be conducted within the Time Hut, limiting its progression. Currently, Lynch remained at the High-level Knight stage.
Nonetheless, his swordsmanship had improved considerably. Grant’s “Direct Death Without Advance” had been cultivated to its max level, granting him complete mastery of this advanced technique.
With the support of an advanced swordsmanship skill, Lynch should theoretically find the fight more manageable. However, for some reason, his duel with Jamie this time was notably difficult, leaving Lynch breathless and somewhat fatigued.
After nearly a hundred rounds of fierce exchanges, a loud “Clang!” rang out as a Cross Sword was struck away into the air, spinning several times before embedding itself into the ground.
The sword knocked away was still the one Jamie wielded. The outcome was the same as countless previous duels between the two.
However,
This time, Jamie didn’t accept his loss with the same composure and ease as before. For reasons unknown, he stood in the training ground, staring at the Cross Sword in the distance for a long time, his expression filled with a sense of melancholy.
Beads of sweat soaked his long hair, trickling down his face.
The face that once belonged to the dashing Knight of Hundred Flowers now appeared aged, his skin roughened and marked with numerous wrinkles.
His physique was no longer the perfectly sculpted image it had once been, instead appearing slightly overweight, making his armor look ill-fitting and bulky.
After a while, Jamie finally came back to his senses.
Shaking his wet hair vigorously, he looked at Lynch and said in a slightly bitter tone, “You win, my friend.”
