The encounter with Kismet was very brief.
After Ophelia’s mental force drifted over along the seawater, Kismet had Saul leave first while he stayed behind to face the Sky City Lord’s wrath in his place.
Though somewhat apologetic, Saul readily agreed to leave the trouble to Kismet.
He then took off again, heading toward his intended destination.
Long after his takeoff, no great battle between two fourth-rank wizards erupted behind him.
Saul looked back several times but saw no unusual circumstances.
“They didn’t fight?” He was somewhat puzzled.
Kismet had once disguised himself as second-rank, pretending to acknowledge Ophelia as his master, with considerable elements of mockery.
The conflict between these two people was certainly significant.
He hadn’t expected that they still wouldn’t come to blows even now.“It seems Kismet is eloquent and persuaded Ophelia to go back.”
If no direct conflict occurred, that was naturally best.
Ophelia was, after all, a fourth-rank wizard and the Lord of Sky City. Although her influence was relatively small among fourth-rank wizards, she wasn’t to be underestimated.
Being able to avoid escalating the conflict was good.
After waiting over ten minutes with no pursuers appearing behind him, Saul finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“It seems we’ve successfully escaped.”
The other consciousness entities all congratulated Saul.
Only Pei’er’s remnant spirit wasn’t quite satisfied.
[Look how pleased you are. You just got lucky meeting Kismet. Otherwise, according to your previous plan, you would have already been caught by that old witch. Thank your luck—otherwise you would have been devoured by the old witch, then literally devoured!]
But Saul shook his head.
“What cannot be controlled by people, what is ethereal and unpredictable—that’s called luck. What happened to me this time isn’t called luck.”
[Then what is it?]
“It’s called the echo of the Symphony of Fate, the feedback of fate power, and of course, it also includes a bit of the Cat’s Gratitude.”
Pei’er seemed to not quite understand, yet also seemed to understand a little, falling into confused silence.
Saul also said no more.
At the limit of his vision ahead, a winding coastline appeared faintly.
…
Saul thought Kismet had persuaded Ophelia not to pursue him, but he didn’t know that when Ophelia saw Kismet, she wasn’t angry at all. She didn’t even need him to speak before she actively gave up capturing Saul and descended to the back of the large fish Kismet was riding.
“Didn’t I tell you to come back in half a year?” Ophelia sat on the fish’s fin, her feet extending into the seawater.
The giant ray that had been swaying its fins to paddle instantly became obedient, not daring to move anymore, floating on the sea surface like a corpse, drifting with the waves.
“I think you imprisoned my master because you didn’t want me to come early,” Kismet sneered, though it was unclear whether he was angry.
Ophelia said quite openly, “How is it imprisonment? It’s just an experiment.”
“Aren’t you focusing on using the ancient Water God’s method to advance to fifth rank? How do you have the energy to experiment with my master?”
At this point, Ophelia’s expression finally changed, looking somewhat unwilling and somewhat resolute.
“Originally I just wanted to leave a split body as a backup plan. But after just fighting a water elemental being, I realized that I can never advance to fifth rank using the ancient Water God’s method!”
“Water elemental being?” Kismet was somewhat puzzled. How did he not know there were pure elemental beings in this world?
However, this wasn’t the most important matter at hand.
“Are you certain the ancient Water God’s method won’t work for advancement? You’re the only fourth-rank wizard in this world who majors in water elements. If even you can’t use this method to advance, then others have even less hope.”
Ophelia’s expression darkened. “It won’t work. I’ve been overlooking one point all along. The ancient Water God wasn’t human—he should have been one of the legendary Azure Scale Clan, a type of mermaid race. And the Azure Scale Clan could completely transform themselves into water-type beings. But I… no matter how close I get to water elements, I can never completely become a single-element being.”
Kismet showed no sympathy for Ophelia, even laughingly suggesting, “Or you could also transform yourself into one of the mermaid races under the Red Sea Trees?”
Ophelia glanced sideways at Kismet. “Don’t call the monsters created by the Tribunal the mermaid race.”
“True. I heard the Tribunal gave them a new racial name—Whale People.”
Ophelia was completely indifferent. “They’re just low-level beings living in muddy garbage. It’s remarkable they thought up a name.”
Kismet said nothing more, lowering his head to fiddle with his harp again.
Instead, Ophelia couldn’t hold back first. “Since you won’t let me go capture Saul, then let’s begin our original plan.”
Kismet suddenly looked up, staring at Ophelia.
Ophelia laughed lightly. “Why are you staring at me like that? Didn’t we agree to cooperate in contacting the former master of the Dead Wizard’s Diary—Lord Douglas?”
Kismet’s expression was blank. “Are you certain you want to contact him? He’s no kind messenger. Aren’t you afraid that once you contact him, he’ll turn around and eat you as a snack?”
The smile also disappeared from Ophelia’s face.
Clearly, when mentioning the diary’s former master, she also instinctively felt fear.
But Ophelia was someone with clear goals and considerable stubbornness. She quickly overcame her own fear. “Since I dare to contact him, I naturally have the confidence not to be eaten. Now it depends on whether you’re willing to be my intermediary.”
Kismet lowered his head, gently plucking at his harp.
The sound of the strings was crisp, but was drowned out by the surrounding sound of waves.
“Even if I’m willing, it’s useless. Now the only stargate is firmly controlled by the Stargate Council, not allowing anyone to get even slightly close. How am I supposed to contact Douglas?”
Ophelia’s eyes immediately lit up.
Her head suddenly flew up from her shoulders, stretching her neck extremely long, bringing her face directly close to Kismet’s.
Her face was full of excitement, so excited that her features looked somewhat ferocious.
“Who says this world has only one stargate?”
Without waiting for Kismet to ask, she volunteered the information.
“This time when I helped Saul communicate and connect to another world, while traveling to that world, I discovered an extremely small gap in the world barrier. Saul was also able to attempt connecting to other worlds through that gap!”
“Now we have our own stargate, and we no longer need to look at those cowards’ faces!”
Kismet was completely shocked, unable to speak for a long time.
After a very long while, he finally lowered his head, his shoulders shaking as he laughed continuously.
“Saul can also communicate with another world? Hehehehe… He always manages to surprise me.”
Ophelia narrowed her eyes, quietly waiting for Kismet’s answer.
The laughter stopped abruptly. Kismet looked up again, his gaze both ferocious and twisted.
“Since you’ve even prepared the gap in the world barrier, then I’ll help you contact my former master. It just so happens I have something stored with him!”
