Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 794: Second Target Achieved!

Saul looked up at the water spirit before him.

The being was entirely composed of water, without a trace of impurity. Therefore, Saul couldn’t see its facial features, only an overall silhouette.

It looked like a minimalist sculpture made of water.

But when Saul squinted to look closer, he could see the shadow of a pentagram within the Water God’s body.

Symphony of Fate, second target, achieved!

Saul smiled first, then could no longer hold himself up, sitting directly on the ground and leaning back against Mina’s small bed.

Despite being exhausted to the point of collapse, Saul’s mood was extremely pleasant.

Before the Water God broke free from the seal, he had connected his fate lines to the other party, forming a pentagram, and first transmitted the fate power he possessed to Floco.

When Floco successfully broke free from the deep sea seal by accepting his power, the other party’s destiny also underwent tremendous change.

A fifth-rank wizard’s fate had been altered by Saul.

This released an immeasurably vast amount of fate power.

Now, this power was flowing back to Saul through the fate lines connecting him and Floco.

Although this fate power couldn’t directly manifest as increased mental or magical power, Saul believed he would soon understand the benefits brought by the increase in fate power.

Just then, a tremendous roar suddenly came from the distance.

The sound came from the direction of the White Glass Castle.

At the same time, Saul discovered that the auxiliary formation he had set up at the White Glass Castle had also been destroyed.

“Worthy of a fourth-rank wizard—she got out so quickly!”

If Saul hadn’t first used the consciousness platform to hold her back, then connected to the Prismatic World and borrowed its power to temporarily strengthen the stars in the consciousness platform, she would have broken through the restraints much earlier.

But now, Saul had ultimately been one step faster, releasing the Water God.

He looked at the Water God, who had taken on a mermaid form, and said softly, “According to our agreement, I’ve rescued you. Now it’s your turn to help me deal with my troubles.”

Floco swished his fish tail in the air, some water droplets separating from his body before being absorbed back.

“Don’t worry. Since I made an agreement with you, I’ll naturally help you hold off Ophelia.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Floco’s figure disappeared from where he stood.

“Worthy of a former fifth-rank—instant teleportation ability comes standard.” Saul sighed, then turned to look at Mina, who stood there dazed, not knowing what had happened.

He rubbed Mina’s head. “Go to sleep. Everything you saw today was just a dream that will be quickly forgotten. Only when you become a true wizard will you remember the content of this dream.”

Mina had been looking at Saul strangely, seeming to want to ask why this dream was so vivid, but before she could open her mouth, her eyes closed first. Then her body went limp, falling back onto the bed with long, steady breathing.

She had truly fallen asleep.

Only then did Pei’er, who had been holding back for a long time, start clamoring in the diary.

[Quick, quick, quick! I want to go watch that guy beat up Ophelia!]

As Saul’s mental strength recovered slightly, he immediately teleported.

However, he didn’t go to the White Glass Castle, but returned to his temporary residence in Sky City.

[Huh? What are you doing here?]

As Saul ran toward the fish tank, he explained.

“Although the Water God Floco broke through the seal, his strength hasn’t fully recovered. Even if he can block Ophelia now, he won’t last long. Rather than watching the show, it’s better to take the opportunity to escape.”

[What? He’s that useless? Then why did you go through so much trouble to rescue him?]

Pei’er couldn’t understand.

“Because my agreement with him wasn’t for him to save me, but for self-salvation.”

[Self-salvation?]

Pei’er still didn’t understand.

Saul smiled slightly without explaining.

Now Floco was already the second target chosen by Saul’s Symphony of Fate, and his fate lines were interconnected with Saul’s.

As long as he lived, he could provide Saul with fate power.

And if his future destiny encountered many twists and turns, he could provide Saul with even more fate power.

To save Saul, he would inevitably clash with Ophelia, meaning his future fate certainly wouldn’t be smooth sailing.

From the Death Demon in the Prismatic World, Saul had understood one principle: only increasingly turbulent destinies could give birth to increasingly powerful fate power.

He wanted to save Floco, but he also couldn’t let the other party live worry-free from then on.

This was Saul’s open conspiracy.

To want freedom, one must accept the pressure that comes with freedom.

Floco understood this point clearly, but having been sealed for hundreds of years, he still readily made the deal with Saul.

Saul suddenly understood Kismet’s way of doing things.

Fate power was very similar to the death power involved with the Dead Wizard’s Diary. So back then, Kismet neither wanted Saul to die nor wanted him to live too smoothly.

“The dragon-slaying youth eventually becomes the dragon,” Saul shook his head, no longer thinking about these matters, and began searching for Kate, who still hadn’t appeared.

Saul’s teleportation coordinates had been the orange cat Kate, but when he arrived at the laboratory, he didn’t immediately spot Kate’s figure.

“Strange, Kate should be right here.” Saul turned around the room but still didn’t see that fat cat.

Only in the nearby fish tank, which had become clean again, was the ugly mermaid swimming up and down, apparently startled by the recent explosion.

“Where on earth did Kate go?” Saul was anxious to leave and didn’t have much time to search for Kate.

“Forget it, let me call the others back first.”

The Dead Wizard’s Diary appeared in his palm. With a thought from Saul, several black pages instantly appeared in front of the black pages where Pei’er and Nerela were located.

This was the diary’s current powerful feature.

Though the consciousness entities had clearly been dispersed by Saul to other places to set up auxiliary formations, with just one thought, he could pull them all back into the diary.

It could be considered passive instant teleportation.

“Everything went smoothly?” Saul asked Agu and the others.

[No problems. According to your instructions, the hidden lines have been laid.]

The consciousness entities all gave similar answers.

Saul was very satisfied.

Then he walked toward the large fish tank.

Saul had already stored other important items in his storage device before going to find Ophelia. But the mermaid in the tank couldn’t be put inside.

So he had chosen to come back once before leaving, intending to take both the orange cat Kate and the mermaid with him.

He just didn’t know where Kate had run off to.

However, when Saul was about to reluctantly give up on Kate and knock out the mermaid to carry her away, he discovered something seemed wrong with the mermaid before him.

“Wait, you’re Kate!” Saul finally discovered the anomaly in the mental energy fluctuations emanating from the mermaid.

This mermaid, who had little intelligence, actually had the same mental energy fluctuations as Kate. They were just very weak, so much so that when he hadn’t examined carefully, he couldn’t tell that the mermaid’s inner nature had changed!

“Kate, how did your soul end up in the mermaid’s body?”

First a cat, now a fish—Kate’s soul really had special preferences and could live anywhere!

The ugly mermaid pressed against the glass wall. Unable to speak, she showed an extremely sad expression. When she realized she couldn’t even talk, she began violently slapping the glass, then…

Wailed loudly!

“Forget it, there’s no time to study this now. Just stay still!”

Saul stepped forward, scooped the mermaid out of the water, tucked her under his arm, and ran.

Originally he had planned to knock out the mermaid and take her away, but now that the mermaid’s inner self was Kate, who was relatively well-behaved, naturally there was no need to beat her up.

Saul took out a vial of reagent and poured it into his mouth, then completely opened the door within his body, allowing magical power to surge continuously into his body.

The next second, Saul burst through the roof and flew directly above Sky City.

In the distance, two blurry shadows were battling above the White Glass Castle.

The powerful magical fluctuations had nearly shattered all the glass and ceramic items in the White Glass Castle.

Even several pointed towers had collapsed to the ground.

A few third-rank wizards were also flying in the air, but no one dared approach the fighting parties.

Saul took one last look at Floco, whose aura was already beginning to weaken, then turned and rushed toward the outside of Sky City.
