Chapter 1860 - 1957: Shattering the Mural

Chapter 1860: Chapter 1957: Shattering the Mural

The twelve murals, one blank, the other eleven each depict different content.

Even though it was Fang Lin’s second time seeing these murals, the shock in his heart had not diminished much. Moreover, after experiencing many things and seeing the murals again, Fang Lin was somewhat able to understand them.

For example, the sixth mural, on which four figures are carved, although the carving is rather rough, these four figures are clearly different from each other.

Fang Lin could now basically determine that the four figures on the sixth mural should represent the four Martial Lords of the Human Clan who appeared successively from front to back.

Though Mo Shouhe was not strictly part of the Human Clan, he had always been regarded as one, so he was also included in this mural.

Xuanyuan Ya, Mo Shouhe, Fang Qingye, and Hou Yi were the four Martial Lords born successively in the Human Clan. Perhaps Mo Shouhe’s existence spanned a longer age than the other three, but Xuanyuan Ya was the true human and the first to achieve the status of Martial Lord in the Age of the Ancient Wilderness.

Without Xuanyuan Ya, perhaps the Human Clan would not have the strength and prosperity they have today. He was the one who truly shouldered the sky for the Human Clan. Both Fang Qingye and Hou Yi were Martial Lords who grew under Xuanyuan Ya’s protective wings.

"Perhaps some murals here were left by Xuanyuan Elder, but it’s unlikely they were all left by him." Fang Lin said to himself inwardly.

After all, the things depicted in the later murals were yet to occur, and even if Xuanyuan Ya had the ability to see the future, he wouldn’t have seen so much, such as Fang Lin’s birth or the ten suns appearing during the great catastrophe’s descent.

Among these murals, Fang Lin could understand most, but the second and fifth murals left him quite perplexed without any clue about what they were expressing.

The second mural depicted a black and a white figure without anything else, while the fifth mural showed a person on a mountain. Fang Lin knew this mountain should be Mountain Tu, but who was the person on the mountain?

Especially the second mural, with its black and white figures, what do they represent? It was too limited, leaving no room for Fang Lin to use his imagination.

As for the fifth mural, Fang Lin could guess that the figure on Mountain Tu might be the so-called Ancient Spirit of Mountain Tu, the source of everything.

"According to Xuanyuan Elder, the Ancient Spirit of Mountain Tu is the first being born atop Mountain Tu. It is not an eternal undying existence, and at the brink of its demise, it divided into several incarnations to continue its existence. Currently, there may be four incarnations, or five, with only Mo Shouhe’s incarnation still active. The first Demon Saint relied on the Demon Clan’s Sacred Tree to extend his life. The ancient demon tree had something to do with one incarnation, but since the ancient demon tree has already perished, this incarnation should no longer exist. There may be two unknown Ancient Spirit Incarnations at present." Fang Lin thought inwardly, combining what he knew with the murals in front of him.

In his contemplation, Fang Lin thought of two people: one being the black-clothed, umbrella-wielding figure who appeared twice before him.

This umbrella-holder had always been a concern for Fang Lin. He seemed to know many things and appeared everywhere, mysterious and unpredictable. Fang Lin had no idea of his true identity.

It now seemed likely that this umbrella-holder could also be one of the Ancient Spirit Incarnations, but Fang Lin was still speculating. If that umbrella-wielder truly were one of the Ancient Spirit Incarnations, the situation would be dire. A person so unpredictable and enigmatic posed an unimaginable threat to Fang Lin.

The other person was the later Hidden Kill Hall Master.

This person had appeared once and used supreme methods to seal Fang Lin’s cultivation but did not kill him.

Previously, Fang Lin had never linked the Hidden Kill Hall Master to this whole affair, assuming he might only be an ancient remnant strong figure, just like the Sealing Sword Pavilion Master, Liao Can Sheng.

But Fang Lin had learned the true identity and intention of Liao Can Sheng, who was a disciple taken by Mo Shouhe at some unknown time. He established the Sealing Sword Pavilion, organizing one Sword Head event after another, aiming to awaken Mo Shouhe at the opportune moment for his descent into the world.

Thus, Fang Lin had to question the purpose behind the Hidden Kill Hall Master’s establishment of the Hidden Kill Hall and whether it was connected to the Ancient Spirit Incarnations?

Another point that concerned Fang Lin was that the demon beast in later generations was released by someone from the Hidden Kill Hall. If so, there must be a relationship between the demon beast and the Hidden Kill Hall Master.

In Fang Lin’s view, the demon beast could be seen as akin to the ancient demon tree, only the ancient demon tree seemed even more powerful than the demon beast.

"The Ancient Spirit Incarnations are a part of the Ancient Spirit of Mountain Tu. If one incarnation perishes, could the Ancient Spirit of Mountain Tu be revived in the world?" Fang Lin thought of the already perished ancient demon tree. Since it no longer existed, even if other Ancient Spirit Incarnations were gathered together, the Ancient Spirit of Mountain Tu might remain incomplete.

With numerous clues intertwined, Fang Lin thought for a long time, mostly speculating, as the information he had access to was still limited.

Fang Lin did not notice that the twelfth blank mural was now showing some faint and changing patterns, not just a single image.

The beast skin man, even more so, did not notice. He continued to kneel in front of the first mural, ignoring what Fang Lin was doing there.

Fang Lin suddenly turned his head, finally noticing the anomaly of the twelfth mural, his eyes reflecting surprise.

After watching the ever-changing patterns for a while, Fang Lin was able to make out some figures flashing by and some scenes emerging.

But as it remained a stone-carved mural, it was overly vague. Fang Lin couldn’t determine what those continually changing figures and scenes truly were.

Suddenly, Fang Lin’s mind buzzed, a feeling of resemblance surged forth. In the ancient cave of later times, Fang Lin had had the same experience, a sign of a thousand ages dream return.

This time, however, Fang Lin’s intuition warned him never to dream return again; otherwise, he would be trapped forever, unable to escape.

Resisting with gritted teeth, Fang Lin suddenly threw a punch, directly at the twelfth mural.

With a roar, the twelfth mural shattered into pieces, yet the beast skin man remained unmoving, kneeling there as if he had heard nothing.

The mural collapsed, and Fang Lin’s vision blackened, unable to resist the strange power dragging his consciousness to eons past.
