Chapter 1762: 1619: Leaving the Heavenly Palace

Chapter 1762: Chapter 1619: Leaving the Heavenly Palace

In Sky City, a Totem Believer Woman clad in blue walked with heavy steps toward the depths of a white alleyway.

As she reached the end, the Totem Believer Woman suddenly collapsed to the ground. Immediately after, as though her soul had left her body, a graceful and alluring spirit drifted out of her form.

This spirit gradually condensed into a tangible state, presenting itself in a captivatingly beautiful appearance.

“Finally done. I wonder if Chu Mu can successfully escape from there,” Princess Jinrou murmured to herself.

While speaking, Bai Jinrou didn’t notice a crimson and holy blue Good and Evil Flower Stamen quietly emerging at her feet, weaving along the white walls on both sides and spreading rapidly, instantly enwrapping the area.

Bai Jinrou looked at the flower-covered vines and instantly turned her head.

Just then, a few petals were caught by the wind, swiftly converging and slowly sketching out an enchanting and seductive figure.

The petals scattered, revealing a stone-faced Yu Suo standing before Bai Jinrou. Bai Jinrou scrutinized her for a moment, unable to distinguish whether she was Yu Suo or the Good and Evil Queen.

Bai Jinrou possessed the ability to read minds. Although she did not use it on Yu Suo, she faintly sensed that something about Yu Suo had changed compared to before — both her demeanor and mentality seemed transformed.

“Were all the seeds scattered to their designated locations?” Yu Suo asked in a tone utterly devoid of emotion.

“Yes,” Bai Jinrou nodded slightly before asking, “Where is Chu Mu? Why don’t I see him?”

At the mention of Chu Mu, a flicker of strange emotion flashed in Yu Suo’s gaze. She tried her best to maintain composure and calmly replied, “He will be here soon.”

“You’re lying,” Bai Jinrou said, staring into Yu Suo’s eyes.

In front of someone skilled in mind reading, any wavering in one’s gaze while speaking could easily expose a lie.

“I’m not. Hand over the guiding seeds,” Yu Suo responded.

“Where exactly is Chu Mu? What did you do to him?” Princess Jinrou discerned troubling information from Yu Suo’s eyes and immediately glared at her with hostility.

“You’re so annoying!” Yu Suo snapped, raising her hand.

Vines instantly erupted beneath Bai Jinrou, quickly entangling her body. Paralyzing thorns began penetrating her, threatening to transform her body into a pallid gray.

Realizing the danger, Bai Jinrou swiftly shifted into a ghostly state, escaping from Yu Suo’s vines.

Yu Suo smirked coldly, chanting a spell under her breath. Suddenly, a massive blue sealing flower emerged within the alley, blossoming directly above Princess Jinrou’s head. Its petals dissolved into peculiar marks, which floated around Bai Jinrou’s ghostly form like a sinister web.

Princess Jinrou attempted to resist, only to discover that Yu Suo’s sealing power was incredibly strong. Even with the spiritual protection of a Magic Spirit, she couldn’t fend off the spell, which immobilized her entirely, down to her soul.

Bai Jinrou watched her immobilized form helplessly as Yu Suo slowly approached, forcibly retrieving the guiding seeds linked to the formation array.

Staring at Yu Suo, Bai Jinrou was profoundly shocked. Her strength had increased significantly, and her entire presence now exuded an alarming intensity!

“Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!!!!!!!!!”

Suddenly, a swirling blend of black and silver demonic flames ignited beside Bai Jinrou, burning slowly.

From within the fire, Chu Mu’s figure began to take shape.

As the flames subsided, Chu Mu stood there, his piercing gaze fixed on Yu Suo. He demanded, “What are you doing?”

Maintaining her stoic demeanor, Yu Suo casually gestured, causing the sealing flower’s bind on Princess Jinrou to dissipate.

Unwilling to engage with Chu Mu any further, Yu Suo turned around with the retrieved seeds and approached one of the vine-covered walls.

The wall’s vines slowly parted, revealing a pathway carved from floral tendrils. Where it led, no one could say.

“Wait,” Chu Mu said, reaching out to grab her shoulder.

“Don’t touch me!” Yu Suo shouted furiously.

At her cry, the once serene Good and Evil Flowers lining the walls suddenly morphed, their appearance becoming menacing as densely packed, fang-like poisonous thorns all aimed at Chu Mu, poised to release a lethal storm of venomous needles.

Bai Jinrou watched the terrifying thorns, a chill running down her spine. It felt as though they had fallen into the belly of a monstrous Flower Demon.

Chu Mu released his hold, prompting the venomous thorns to freeze mid-motion.

“The soul contract is broken. From now on, you go your way, and I’ll go mine. We won’t interfere with each other. But before entering the Heavenly Palace, what was it that you promised?” Chu Mu asked, undeterred by the threatening vines.

Yu Suo’s chest heaved with turbulent emotion. Her mind was flooded with unbearable, humiliating memories.

Yet this man had the audacity to stand before her unabashed, exuding an air of absolute indifference as he severed ties completely.

Fine. Sever it all.

She didn’t want to see him anymore, not ever again!

“The remaining Divine Dew can sustain her life. As for arranging the formation array, find Xia Zhixian. If you’ve got more questions, ask them all at once!” Yu Suo suppressed her seething anger. Even so, she couldn’t help but regret not simply killing him with her poisonous thorns in the Great Hall!

“Where are you going?” Chu Mu asked, his gaze locked on the floral pathway leading into some unknown destination.

For some reason, this pathway felt familiar. Flashes of memory reminded him it might lead to the depths of the dark abyss.

Chu Mu knew well what lurked in that abyss — not only the Ancestor of Good and Evil but also countless other unknown creatures, a haven for horrors threatening Sky City.

“It’s none of your business,” Yu Suo retorted, stepping into the shadowy depths of the uncanny passage.

“How do I get out of here?” Chu Mu pursued her, blocking her way.

Yu Suo clenched her teeth. Why was this man so infuriating? She had already decided not to kill him, and yet he wouldn’t leave her in peace.

“Go back the way you came. The prohibition there hasn’t fully healed yet!” Yu Suo told herself this would be the last, absolutely the last thing she’d say to Chu Mu.

“Are you staying here?” he questioned.

Yu Suo abruptly turned, her irritation boiling over as she glared at Chu Mu.

Chu Mu had one important question to ask her, but he didn’t know how to broach it. He decided not to press any further, fearing her barely restrained fury would drive her to attack him directly.

It could wait. Next time, he thought, stepping aside to let her leave.

As Yu Suo brushed past him, a pang of pain tore through their severed soul bond — an ache as if two halves of the same being were desperately seeking each other.

Yu Suo continued forward, her graceful figure vanishing into the eerie passage.

Watching her retreating back, Chu Mu felt an overwhelming sense of unfamiliarity and detachment.

“What did you do to her? She looked like she was on the verge of losing control,” Bai Jinrou softly asked as she stepped up beside Chu Mu.

“Nothing,” Chu Mu replied, shaking his head.

“You broke the soul contract?” Bai Jinrou inquired.

“Yeah.”

“Why? Aren’t you afraid she’ll retaliate?”

“I don’t think she will,” Chu Mu answered, casting a glance beyond Sky City. “Let’s leave this place first.”

“Alright,” Bai Jinrou nodded.

Chu Mu and Bai Jinrou left Sky City. High above the starlit expanse, Chu Mu glanced down at the stark white city that stood isolated on a giant plate-like landmass.

This alabaster Heavenly Palace had stood for untold millennia and would likely persist for eons more. Its residents, self-proclaimed as superior beings — the Imperial and Divine Clans — no doubt thrived within its grand halls, yet who knew how much unspeakable cruelty lay hidden within?

Through Yu Suo’s memories, Chu Mu had glimpsed this rigidly disciplinarian and somber palace’s distortion and ugliness.

Unfortunately, all he saw were fragmented recollections. To this day, Chu Mu still couldn’t grasp why Yu Suo had leaped into the dark abyss, knowing it was the ultimate hell for the Heavenly Palace, swarming with monsters and demons that saw them as food.

Looking at his palm, Chu Mu noticed a single Tear Crystal resting there.

That droplet undoubtedly encapsulated the most devastating moment of her pain.

Rationality urged Chu Mu to discard this Monument Tear and sever their connection entirely. Once the soul wound healed, she would vanish from his world completely, like a long, forgotten dream blurred by waking life.

After a long hesitation, however, Chu Mu placed the Tear into a vessel.

“Young Master, how was it? That woman must be the ultimate enchantress for human men, right?” Fox Elder’s vulgar and lewd tone mocked the scattered thoughts in Chu Mu’s mind.

“Do you want me to tear your mouth off?” Chu Mu retorted icily.

“You’re both Abnormal Humans. Technically speaking, neither of you counts as human anymore, so your union is quite natural… Alright, alright, I’ll shut up, I’ll shut up.”

“I have a question to ask you. You better answer me honestly,” Chu Mu demanded, his tone deadly serious.

“Young Master, feel free to ask,” Fox Elder replied.

After listening to the Fox Elder’s answer, Chu Mu sank into deep contemplation.

Bai Jinrou quietly observed Chu Mu, who hadn’t said a word for a long time. She refrained from using her mind-reading abilities, though she didn’t know why they no longer worked on Chu Mu. All she sensed was the chaos roiling within his mind.

She only suspected it was related to Yu Suo, yet she couldn’t decipher exactly what had transpired.
