Chapter 1640 - 1633: You’re Very Warm

Chapter 1640: Chapter 1633: You’re Very Warm

"Cough!"

Chu Yihan coughed as he was bumped into by her.

Upon turning around, the red-clad woman in front of him flashed him a smile.

Her smile was so innocent, charming and sincere, emanating a beauty that even the splendid glow of the sunset behind her could not steal away.

She was even more dazzling than the glow of the sunset.

"Weren’t you enjoying a pleasant conversation with Chu Chengye just now?" Chu Yihan asked with a cold face, the evening’s glow unable to melt the chill radiating from him.

"When did I have a pleasant conversation with him?" Su Yingxue was full of question marks, "Just now, I was looking at you the whole time. He did come over to talk to me, but I didn’t hear what he said before he left."

She was puzzled as well.

Nevertheless, given the choice between Chu Chengye and Chu Yihan, she would certainly seek out Chu Yihan first!

Probably, Chu Chengye didn’t have anything important either.

"Is that so?" Chu Yihan raised an eyebrow.

Su Yingxue nodded earnestly, "Yes, I really didn’t talk much with him!"

She hadn’t had any feelings for Chu Chengye.

Indeed, Chu Chengye was very good to her, warm, respectful, and diligent, but her feelings were very clear.

Her heart was solely on Chu Yihan.

And that nobody could take away.

Chu Yihan snorted coldly and walked away expressionlessly, leading his horse.

Su Yingxue also took her own horse and left with him. They set off slowly, their figures under the sunset, walking leisurely back on the flat mountain road.

Perhaps because she was by his side, Su Yingxue felt a difference in temperature, no longer cold. Involuntarily, her smile arose, "Your Highness, it doesn’t feel cold at all when I’m with you, even the evening seems warmer than the afternoon."

"Is that so?" Chu Yihan asked calmly.

In his eyes, the light was soft, unintentionally filled with a touch of tenderness.

He had the same feeling when he was with Su Yingxue.

These days, he had indeed felt cold very easily.

At first, he thought it was because of his poor health. But when he asked others, they didn’t feel cold at all.

Only until Su Yingxue bumped into him.

Whether they were shaking hands, or in the same room, even in the wilderness, as long as they stood a bit closer, he would always feel warmth.

How wonderful.

As Su Yingxue walked, the warmth from the temperature wasn’t enough. She moved closer to Chu Yihan, "Your Highness, may I walk closer to you?"

"No," Chu Yihan flatly refused, and took a few steps back with his horse, keeping a distance from her.

Not pleased, Su Yingxue closed in once again.

"Su Yingxue!"

"I’m cold!"

"As a lady, what is this behavior?"

Su Yingxue pouted, "I’ve liked you for so many years, I’ve long since lost that sense of propriety, okay? Just let me lean on you for a bit!"

Chu Yihan felt a heat behind his ears, his cheeks grew hot. He stepped far to one side but Su Yingxue, caught off guard by his sudden movement, leaned in and fell straight to the ground.

"Ah!"

Su Yingxue happened to fall into a stone pit, twisting her foot.

A piercing pain shot through her, leaving Su Yingxue verging on tears.

She lifted her head, her doe-like eyes brimming with tears, "It hurts..."

She had indeed twisted it this time, and it was genuinely painful!

She sat there on the ground for a while, her ankle visibly swelling.

It was then that Chu Yihan realized she wasn’t pretending; she had truly been injured.

He hurriedly squatted down, picked her up, and placed her on a large rock, "How are you feeling?"

"I sprained it and probably can’t walk anymore."

Su Yingxue sniffled, managing to hold back her tears, but her eyes were exceptionally aggrieved, brimming with a pitiful redness.

Chu Yihan felt somewhat remorseful.

He had not anticipated that she would get injured from falling.

"Then get on the horse, and Your Highness will lead it for you," Chu Yihan conceded helplessly.

It was his negligence.

Su Yingxue glanced at the stirrup, then at her swollen foot, pouted her mouth, and said hoarsely, "It hurts so much, I can’t climb up."

"What do you propose then?" Chu Yihan surveyed the surroundings, "There’s no one living on this mountain, we can’t stop here to rest."

It would take him at least two hours to leave her here and fetch a court physician to carry her back.

By that time, it would be dark!

What if she, a woman, encounters danger while here alone?

"Your Highness, please carry me," Su Yingxue pleaded, her eyes rimmed red.

If it were the past, Chu Yihan would have flatly refused.

But for some reason, looking at her pitiful state, he couldn’t bring himself to do so.

He turned around with an expressionless face and half-squatted, "Climb on."

Su Yingxue covered her mouth, quietly chuckling, then leaned against Chu Yihan’s back.

The moment she leaned on him, Chu Yihan felt as if enveloped by a robust warmth!

This warmth seeped through his skin, permeating his body, ironing out every nerve, and rushing straight into his heart, wrapping it tightly and bolstering it with force.

"Su Yingxue," Chu Yihan called her softly.

"Hmm?" Su Yingxue’s face rested against his shoulder, keenly listening to the evening breeze in the mountains and to every word he uttered.

"You’re very warm."

As night deepened, Su Yingxue lay on Chu Yihan’s shoulder, letting out an involuntary chuckle.

All her confusion and coldness dissolved in his words.

As long as he felt warm, she feared not the world’s chill.

When she was returned to the Marquis’s Manor by Chu Yihan, her father Su Dingheng was anxiously peering out at the entrance, and upon seeing her return, he sighed a long sigh of relief, "My little ancestor, you’re finally back! Your father was almost frantic with worry!"

"Don’t worry, I’m fine."

Su Yingxue patted Su Dingheng’s shoulder.

"How can I not worry? Your mother has gone to Jiangnan, and if anything happened to you, how would I explain it to her!"

Su Dingheng wiped away tears, looking like a henpecked husband.

Su Yingxue pulled at the corners of her mouth with a slightly embarrassed smile.

Having put her down, Chu Yihan casually asked, "Your mother went down to Jiangnan to do what? Why didn’t she tell me!"

"I wouldn’t dare ask about your mother’s affairs. When she left, she just gave a notice, saying there was a serious issue with the clinic and the shop there, and she had to see to it herself, instructing me to take good care of you," Su Dingheng explained, supporting Su Yingxue’s shoulder.

"What happened to your foot? You didn’t injure it, did you?" Su Dingheng’s voice sharpened the moment he saw Su Yingxue not standing straight.

"It’s nothing, Father, don’t be too dramatic," laughed Su Yingxue, a tad embarrassed.

In front of Chu Yihan at that!

It made her seem so domineering!

Her father was that spineless.

But Chu Yihan seemed not at all surprised; he delivered her safely and turned to leave, without any hint of reluctance.

Su Yingxue felt a bit reluctant; once back in her attic room, she asked Zhilan to bring some medicinal herbs, and she handled the treatment herself after grinding them.

Zhilan stood by with the tray, looking quite distressed, "How could the Ninth Prince let Miss suffer a fall like this!"
