Chapter 3879: Religion
Slowly but certainly, everyone made their way to the correct path, which was actually the wrong one at the moment. Fortunately, Sister Orb’s mapping was used to predict the patterns of the shifts of the maze. That wrong path would turn out to be the correct one in just an hour or so.
Celis found Tanxan, who had just beaten up a cultivator who thought he would be weak. Celis and Tanxan pretended to have a conversation and formed an alliance, just like many others did, and only then did they leave that place together.
Kentucky and Zangeshu even pretended to fight for a short moment and recognized they ’wouldn’t win’ against the other before forming another ’alliance’ for the path ahead.
Roan was basically the only one left alone, although he was going to the same place.
-Lovijli Lukrur, Token 39 Acquired.-
Finally, everyone was in the right place at the right time. The maze continued to change, with countless paths closing and opening. Yet, Sister Orb had everything recorded and immediately told them where to go.
[Great! You have exactly 49 minutes to take this path, or the maze changes will end up closing it again, forcing you to go somewhere else. Now, move your butts!]
Sister Orb made sure they all kept some distance away from each other, using different corridors that would ultimately converge in the right and only exit. Traps, enemies, shifts, and such continued to appear more frequently. They were all quite nasty, and everyone was on edge, which explained why only 39 made it through so far.
Finally, the entire twins’ group entered the same path, just with some hundreds of meters of distance from each other. They could even see the other part if one of them stopped, but they didn’t.
But then, a problem appeared. Since there was only one correct path, taking it meant you could only go forward or backward. There were a few dead ends you could take if you left it, but those dead ends were short, and you would eventually go back to the right path again.
The difference was that the twins’ group was aware of this, but the other participants were not. Rean and Foliana were the duo furthest ahead, and they were forced to stop on their tracks. That’s because their Divine Senses caught the presence of three experts ahead: one Demon Beast and two Humanoids.
If that were all, it wouldn’t be a problem. The problem was their cultivation. They were all Saint Realm Experts, and they were moving towards Rean and Foliana. Why? Because they obviously didn’t know they were moving in the right direction just a moment ago, that’s why.
’Everyone, enter one of those dead-end paths. Otherwise, we will bump into three Saint Realm kids making their way back,’ Rean quickly warned everyone, pulling Foliana with him.
However, what if those Saint Realm experts decided to enter one of those dead-end paths? Whoever was there wouldn’t be able to avoid them.
Let’s not forget that everything happening here was being transmitted online. Everyone was watching. So... it wouldn’t make sense if any member of the twins’ group suddenly began to beat down a bunch of Saint Realm experts while they were only Nascent Soul Realm themselves.
That said, Roan stopped him. ’No, just stay there. We are closer to you than these guys, so we will catch up to you first.’
’Uh?’ Rean was taken aback. ’Wouldn’t it be too weird if we suddenly gathered here? No, wait! I know what to say.’
"Hey, Foliana," Rean looked at her. "Just the two of us will be too risky, and we don’t even know whether we are on the right path or not. How about we wait a little bit and see if we can find someone else to join us?"
Foliana immediately understood. "Although I’m not very eager to increase the variability, I guess there is no help there. There is still time, and there is also strength in numbers. I just hope we are lucky enough to find more experts at our level."
They exchanged those words normally, which were obviously transmitted in the live stream. Now everyone would know why they stopped there, waiting. Some were against it, others found it a good decision, and there were those who simply found it boring. Nonetheless, the excuse was created.
Roan was the first one to arrive, just a minute later. Then Celis and Tanxan, and finally Zangeshu and Kentucky. The seven looked at each other, seemingly on guard in case anyone there suddenly decided to attack.
But then, they all nodded, making it look like they reached a decision through Divine Sense Messages.
Rean stepped forward, finally speaking. "Then we have an agreement. Until at least 500 tokens are taken away, we will move together. Does anyone have anything else to add?"
No one said anything, and this new alliance of ’strangers’ was created on the spot.
Well, lo and behold, as soon as they began to move as a group, three Saint Realm Experts appeared ahead of them. Who could have thought that?
[All that acting was good and whatever, but remember, you only have 22 minutes until the maze changes again.] Sister Orb warned them, obviously not worried that the twins’ group would suffer anything in the hands of the Saint Realm group.
Rean and the others quickly took out their weapons, looking ’tense’ as they observed the trio that had just arrived. They gave the ’even if we die, we will do our best to make you suffer’ kind of feeling.
A young woman looked at the guy in the front for a moment. There were seven participants in the twins’ group, while hers only had three, but she ignored the rest behind. The cultivation difference was so big that she wouldn’t be afraid even if she were alone. "Another bunch of ants banding together."
"Hey, don’t say that," the Demon Beast of her group spoke, a Demom Spider of some kind. "They might have some information, Fergaya."
Fergaya highly doubted that, but still asked. "Speak, have you found anything unusual in this maze? Any clues that could lead to the spire?"
Yet, at that moment, Kentucky came from the back of the twins’ group. "Sorry, beautiful friend, but we are as lost as anyone else. We do believe we haven’t taken this path yet, though. That’s why we are trying it. Who knows, it might be the right one since the maze keeps changing."
"Ah!" Fergaya immediately recognized the Minokawa. "Kentucky!"
Her two companions looked at her, their expressions weird. In fact, so did the twins’ group as they looked at it. No one expected that development.
Kentucky obviously noticed that. "Do we know each other? No, wait!"
Kentucky’s Fan Club was truly organized... even with its own website and a list of its ’official’ members! Guess who was a member of Kentucky’s Fan Club? "Hey, it’s Fergaya Fifinadio! You are one of the top members of my Fan Club, aren’t you? I believe I even had a short video call five months ago."
Kentucky actually didn’t remember any of that. Sister Orb was the one to tell him as he spoke.
"Yes! Yes!" Fergaya nodded, excited that Kentucky remembered her. "I... I never had the chance to go to your Liantrel Sect myself. This must be fate!"
"Fergaya!" Her male companion immediately shouted on the side. "What the hell are you doing? This is not the time for this kind of bullshit!"
"Ah!" Fergaya quickly composed herself. Sure, she was part of Kentucky’s Fan Club, but this was way more important than that. "Yes, yes. You are correct. But we don’t really need to attack them for no reason, right? Do me a favor and just ignore them. What could a bunch of Nascent Soul Realm experts do to us anyway?"
"They could end up taking the last tokens, leaving us with nothing, even if the chances are low," the Demon Spider said. "The best thing to do is to eliminate them here. In fact, we are already wasting too much time. They were supposed to be dead already if not for all this weird Fan Club stuff of yours."
Fergaya was a little conflicted, even though she knew they were right. Yet, at that moment, Kentucky said something that poor Fergaya couldn’t refuse through Divine Sense. ’If you let us leave, I’ll give you a full day with me, where you can sleep, talk, fly, and hug me as much as you want. An! Entire! Day! All the other Fan Club members will die out of jealousy!’
*Boom!*
Fergaya’s head almost exploded, and she immediately looked back at her companions. "Flanfa, Teridel, if you attack them, our alliance is over! No one touches my Kentucky!"
All over the Werdlen Network, only one kind of message appeared.
-Who the hell is your Kentucky?!-
-Your Kentucky, your ass!-
-Bitch, that is OUR Kentucky!-
Too bad their messages couldn’t reach Fergaya at the moment.
Flanfa and Teridel almost vomited blood, now looking at Kentucky in anger. They probably would join the Kentucky Hate Club after this as well.
"Fine!"
But then again, it would be a terrible idea to fight each other here since Fergaya was also a Saint Realm Expert. "Let’s leave this place before we change our minds."
’I thought I would die before I saw any use for that idiotic Fan Club...’ Roan couldn’t help but comment. Even he couldn’t believe what was happening.
Fergaya was relieved to hear that her companions had given up attacking, and they passed by the twins’ group without incident. Yet, just as they were about to go away, Kentucky sighed and spoke again.
"Wait, you three!"
Roan and the others looked at him. What the hell was he doing now?
Kentucky ignored them, speaking to Fergaya out loud. "Come with us. We actually believe we are on the right path."
"Uh?!"
Everyone felt like they had heard it wrong.
"Why the hell would you even tell them?" Roan couldn’t hold back anymore, almost taking his Scythe Out to cut the Minokawa into pieces.
Kentucky pointed at Fergaya. "She is an essential member of my Fan Club! I couldn’t just leave her behind! I will never betray a member of The Great Kentucky Fan Club!"
And there he goes again... spreading his word... or maybe it would be better to say religion? Because it definitely began to take that kind of form over the Surute Region Werdlem Network after his words just now.
