Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 44: Glorious Victory · Acquisition of a New Holy Relic of Glory

As Su Li gave the command, a resounding horn echoed across the human army formation, and the entire army bet everything on a fierce attack.

At this moment, even the most foolish farmer knew that they must advance with all their might, taking advantage of the magical storm created by the Holy Relic of Glory which kept the enemy's eyes shut, unable to see clearly, to decisively crush the opponent.

Otherwise, once the storm ceased and the enemy, still numbering two to three thousand, engaged in a prolonged battle, the likelihood of their own side's defeat would increase considerably. Even a victory would be a costly one, with numerous slaves perishing and their death rate becoming extremely high.

Therefore, the army of the Hesse Territory, from knights to slaves, unleashed their full potential, charging fiercely at the monsters under the gusting wind. At this moment, no one thought of retreating, and in the storm, there was no chance of backing down.

Beast Slayer Jerald led the charge, rushing up to a massive Anaric Giant Spider and hacking down with his battle halberd. As the beast tried to block with its front legs, the storm caused it to wobble, misaligning its claw with the battle halberd, which then sliced into its abdomen, spewing forth a torrent of grease and green foul blood.

Although the half-meter-long wound seemed insignificant compared to the giant spider's towering seven to eight-meter frame, the pain made it thrash violently, letting out a terrifying howl.

It no longer cared for the firepower platforms and goblins on its back, immediately raising three clawed arms to strike at Jerald.

Its rapidly flailing claws were swift and savage, and under its fearsome onslaught, Jerald's horse had no time to dodge, quickly sliced into six pieces, blood spraying into the sky.

Jerald narrowly leapt from his horse, barely avoiding the horrifying claws. His heart was overshadowed by Yurik's violent will to kill, leaving no space for fear. He jumped up from the ground, swinging his battle halberd with immense force. If it struck true, the spider's abdomen would be carved open with a one-meter-long gash.

Roaring, the creature jumped back a step, dodging Jerald's assault, and swept its claws forward, deflecting Jerald's battle halberd away.

Evidently, the battle halberd hit the creature's claw, yet a massive clashing sound burst forth. Jerald, an elite knight, could not match the power of the Anaric Giant Spider.

His grip around the halberd cracked, blood splattering, his arms rendered numb from the reverberations, barely holding onto his weapon.

For an ordinary person, being deflected like this would leave little chance of resistance, the creature's claws poised to tear them apart.

But the powerful Divine Grace erupted within him, activating the passive trait of Divine Magic - Crushing the Weak. Yurik's will enveloped him like a tyrant. Before the creature could react, he roared and unleashed a flurry of strikes!

The battle halberd pierced through the creature's astonished eye, blinding one vivid green animal eye!

Protecting one's eyes was instinctual for any creature, but under the influence of the divine wind, the Anaric Giant Spider couldn't open its eyes, preventing any defense against Jerald's onslaught.

One protruding round green eye burst open, gushing out foul-smelling blood. The excruciating pain robbed it of its ability to think, causing it to roll on the ground crazily, flinging off the firepower platforms and goblins on its back, scattering them in pieces across the ground.

In its dreadful rampage, about a dozen green-skinned monsters nearby were crushed into mush.

Facing this rampaging behemoth, Jerald exhibited unparalleled courage, repeatedly launching attacks on the seven to eight meters tall monster with his less than two-meter-tall frame.

Should he manage to take down this colossal creature, their side's chances of victory would greatly increase. Knight Oerstein possessed a drop of the Blood of the Earth, and taking down an Anaric Giant Spider would be almost certain.

As for the remaining one, the other knights' bloody charge would also hold a considerable chance of success.

Once the three fearsome demons were disposed of, the remaining greenskins, mostly old and weak, would pose little threat.

Yet the unfolding situation astonished Su Li; the typically battle-craving Knight Oerstein swiftly sped past the monster!

This meant that before the storm ended, he had no chance to turn back; the three giant spiders could only be handled by the other knights of the territory.

Charging rapidly into the enemy formation, without hesitation, Knight Oerstein aimed directly for the goblin war general and Broken Toe Tribe leader, Gorkeir Broken Toe.

Riding a giant wolf and wielding a cyan scimitar, Gorkeir saw the unstoppable Knight Oerstein mowing down greenskins and goblins with his warhammer. Without a second thought, he turned decisively.

But he underestimated Oerstein's warhammer, which, when thrown, struck his steed.

This tactic was a classic - shoot the horse before the rider, capture the king first among the thieves.

The giant wolf let out a miserable cry, tumbling head over heels into the grassy ground.

The giant wolf lacked the might of a two-legged flying dragon, where the thrown warhammer could stun a flying dragon for a second, leaving the wolf unable to rise for a full three seconds.

Gorkeir, pinned under the giant wolf, struggled but could not rise.

Riding the gale's force, Knight Oerstein rapidly charged up to the Broken Toe Tribe's leader, raising his warhammer and slamming it down fiercely.

Gorkeir resisted with all his strength, but the power disparity was immense. His scimitar snapped immediately. If not for the giant wolf awakening and biting fiercely at Knight Oerstein's shin guard, Gorkeir would have been executed before the forces of the Hesse Territory's Military Commander.

Yet the giant wolf paid a horrific price, gripping onto Knight Oerstein's leg without releasing, and Knight Oerstein's war mastiff pounced fiercely onto the giant wolf's back, savagely biting its spine.

```
Although the lion mastiff beast is a fierce war mastiff, its size rivals that of a male lion. It can easily bite through the spine of a giant wolf.
The giant wolf was writhing in pain, trying to shake off the lion mastiff beast on its back, while Gorkeir took advantage of the moment to escape.
When Knight Oerstein smashed the giant wolf's head with a warhammer, splattering red and white filth everywhere, Gorkeir had already fled to the riverbank.
This distance was not much of a challenge for Knight Oerstein; a swift charge would be enough to kill Gorkeir by the riverbank.
Among the green tide, only the giants could briefly hold him back; neither the young beastmen nor the goblins were his match.
But in the midst of Knight Oerstein's murderous gaze, Gorkeir suddenly pulled out a magical artifact from his crotch.
He yelled sharply: "Shiny Weapon · Eye of the Drowned, boys, the situation's bad, retreat!"
Upon hearing his shout, many goblins in flight rushed toward the riverbank like mad, leaping into the turbulent river one after another.
Thousands of monsters, despite the threat of death, eagerly jumped into the water, unafraid of the crashing waves.
The scene utterly stunned the pursuing knights; countless slaves and armed attendants rushed to the riverbank. As they looked down, they saw the dense horde of monsters suddenly vanish beneath the river, none swept away by the current.
Su Li was also shocked; was it really so magical?
Was it the Water-Repelling Pearl or the Water-walking Pearl?
Evidently, those green skin monsters jumping into the river were not swept away but rather hid at the river's bottom, successfully escaping.
However, the monsters that followed them in did not share their luck, as they were instantly overwhelmed by waves upon entering the water, struggling in terror and swept away by the roaring Brionne River.
This caused at least a thousand monsters to cower by the riverside, hesitating and afraid to jump in.
As the battlefield dynamics shifted with Gorkeir's escape, the situation transformed dramatically, and humankind's advantage surged to an overwhelming level.
Though Knight Oerstein failed to behead Gorkeir, his escape had a more remarkable impact than if he had been killed.
It was as if he led a fully equipped regiment to retreat from the battlefield edge, leaving behind soldiers whose morale instantly crumbled; as the knights charged forth on horseback, their courage collapsed, leading to a chaotic retreat.
The beastmen fled while angrily cursing the unreliable goblins, and the dim-witted giants continued charging, unaware that no one surrounded them anymore, leaving them as easy targets for the archer corps.
The most devastated were unquestionably the three Anaric Giant Spiders, oblivious to Gorkeir's language; they were abandoned by their captive goblins on the battlefield, focusing only on escaping rather than fighting desperately.
Fed on a steady supply of goblin offerings, these giant spiders grew more bloated and massive, developing a habit of staying within their dark, damp nests for extended periods, no longer needing to venture out to hunt. In times of famine, they merely had to hiss to summon goblins with offerings to feast on.
This increased their reproduction numbers but led to their loss of wild instincts.
When at a disadvantage, their courage diminished faster than other beasts. The knights pursued them like an ancient hunting party.
Su Li also retracted the Phoenix Wing Talisman in his hand; maintaining this Holy Relic of Glory was draining his spirit and energy dry, leaving him unable to stand upright, feeling as though a bewitchingly seductive demon had ridden him for three days and nights.
The battle was decided; standing somewhat obsessively by the water's edge, Su Li looked like a child who had lost a fish caught in the river, holding his basket and staring at the water with an unconcealed reluctance.
That was almost within his grasp, a Holy Relic of Glory! Could it just escape right under his nose?
How he wished that damned goblin would float up from the riverbed!
The name 'Eye of the Drowned' sounded so ridiculous. If Su Li had it in his possession, he would definitely rename it something more majestic and fantastical, like Water-walking Pearl or Water-Repelling Pearl!
Such an effect of the Holy Relic was truly astounding, enabling a race unskilled in water to move through it with ease.
Knight Oerstein, after slaying an Anaric Giant Spider, approached the riverbank and laughed as he asked Su Li: "Lord, are you still brooding over the escape of that Holy Relic?"
Su Li, eyes fixed unwaveringly on the river surface, nodded and replied: "My treasure, just like that, slipped away. And I'm concerned that Gorkeir might resurrect, posing further threats to the territory."
Knight Oerstein assured with a hearty laugh: "Absolutely impossible. Once the beastmen are defeated, they rarely resurrect, at least not this tribe, nor this leader returning. Perhaps they have other forces, but the Broken Toe Tribe can essentially be declared defunct. If you, Lord, pay slight attention to the intel, perhaps tomorrow this Holy Relic could be back in your hands."
Could the Holy Relic be back by tomorrow?
Su Li's eyes gleamed with uncontrollable joy, clutching Knight Oerstein's arms and demanding: "My loyal Commander-in-Chief, what do you mean?"
